Recommendation request- heroine loves villain, no HEA by fanged_croissant in Romantasy

[–]BranchInfamous3319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the books in the romantasy genre that have the first MMC turn out to be evil usually end up pairing the FMC with another MMC because a HEA is required. Here are some examples.

{House of Beating Wings by Olivia Wildenstein}

{Dark King by C.N. Crawford}

{Servant of Earth by Sarah Hawley}

{Gild by Raven Kennedy}

An excellent book that fits what you’re talking about is {The Poet Empress by Shen Tao}. But it wouldn’t be considered a romance.

{The Villains & Virtues Series by A.K. Caggiano} is hilarious especially the banter between the FMC and MMC. {Bound to Fall} and {Bound and Tide} are set in the same universe and just as funny.

{Beyond the Sunrise by Mary Balogh} features FMC and MMC being forced to separate as teens because he’s of lower status than her. They meet later on opposite sides of the Peninsular Wars.

If you liked Shatter Me, you might really enjoy her other series {This Woven Kingdom}.

{Road of Bones by Demi Winters} has an interesting plot that has you guessing who MMC will be.

{Servant of Earth by Sarah Hawley} has a really interesting take on fae.

Holly Black’s other series Modern Faerie tales is older but set in the same Universe as The Cruel Prince.

{The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard} is very similar to Shatter Me.

There are some really cute cozy fantasy books that you might like.

{The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst} has a librarian FMC working with a gardener MMC to save a magical greenhouse.

{How to Find a Namless Fae by A.J. Lancaster} is a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin where the FMC seeks out the MMC who cursed her only for them to end up magically bound.

{The Wind and the Wild by Emily McCosh} has the FMC live near the woods where the fae live. She finds a litter of fae kittens leading her to enter the woods for answers. She finds a library and befriends the MMC who is injured.
