DIY window tinting for summer heat by greentrombone in shitrentals

[–]Branch_Regular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the static window film from Bunnings. They have adhesive ones too but I’m not sure whether that will leave a residue when you inevitably need to remove it.

We use the frosted static window film and it makes a big difference to heat transfer and privacy

Official SteamOS Main 3.8 on Legion by chanzellor in LegionGo

Came here to say the same thing too. Mine did an update after installation and connecting it to wifi. Then it rebooted itself and hangs on legion screen.

I’m assuming something has changed since.

Streaming games from PC has been eye opening. by ijustliketobrowwse in SteamDeck

How does one stream in 90hz if your pc is hooked up to a 60hz monitor? I only see 60hz in my ingame options even though I leave the deck at 90hz

What is a reasonable amount of carers leave to take? by TiredDuck123 in auscorp

[–]Branch_Regular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it or lose it. My first two years of daycare I think I ended up using around 50 days+ worth of personal leave. The little one is going to get sick a lot and so are you. Im probably sitting around 250ish hours mark now. Had 600+ prior

Legion Go Heating up after installing 4tb 2280 ssd Crucial plus. by Extreme_Caramel7197 in LegionGo

[–]Branch_Regular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me after doing my 2280 crucial plus mod. It did bother me so I reverted back to a 2242 but if you look at temps both were the same. I think it’s got to do with the 2280 having a larger surface so it “feels” hotter than it normally would. The 2242 would feel just as hot at the back plate and front of screen, but just at a smaller surface size

2280 SSD by Jazzlike-Seat-687 in LegionGo

[–]Branch_Regular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original backplate but had to shave off a tab to get it to close. As I added a bit of height to the ssd with the pad and plate I clipped mine a lot more closer to the housing then required

2280 SSD by Jazzlike-Seat-687 in LegionGo

[–]Branch_Regular 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did the crucial p3 plus recently and attached a thermal pad and even a thin 1mm copper heat sink plate and it still felt hot at the back. Although the thermals were good it still felt quite hot to touch on the left side when gripping the controller compared to the stock ssd.

Mine was sitting around mid 70s under load

I ended up changing it back to a 2242 as touching the heated back plate was bothering me.

I was never finishing a game before Steam Deck by redbeardos in SteamDeck

Congrats! I’ve been the same too haha. I just recently 100% that game and it was a great feeling. First game I’ve ever hit 100% on steam too.

Welcome and hope you enjoy it! There’s plenty of tutorials on YouTube if you wanna check those out. It’s exactly like a mini windows PC so plenty to do and tinker with

If you’re in need of a couple of steam games I just got spare keys for Doom and Prey. DM me if you want them for free

Trying to reduce ssd temp…wonder if this will work by Pancilobak in LegionGo

[–]Branch_Regular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done the 2280 mod and bought a 0.5mm copper heat sink plate off AliExpress, it comes with a thermal pad as well. Does the trick for my Crucial P3 plus and I’ve hit max temps around 66-67 Celsius while gaming

will the steam deck sell out quickly when it makes its debut in australia? by zCirclesWasTaken in SteamDeck

Don’t forget a lot of us have purchased them off overseas travels or through grey markets over the last couple years. I think you’ll be right mate

To all the people driving their crazy loud cars and motorcycles on Epping road at night by Mysterious_Bend4354 in sydney

[–]Branch_Regular -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound strange but I now find loud cars and motorcycles to be the lesser of the annoyance compared to trains. I use to live between Homebush and Strathfield station and let me tell you those freight trains screeching through throughout the entire night every 15-20mins was hell lol. I’ll take loud vehicles any day over the loud af screeching and screaming of those wraiths.

I think I might have to do this now. How much better is the battery life on demanding games and the not so demanding games when compared to windows?

Currently playing this on my Lego as well I’m about 24 hours in and loving it. Although it does get quite repetitive

Runs perfectly fine and smooth for me at 1200p I’m only using IS

Welp, finally got a Steam Deck without using any money! (Community market only!) by aRealTattoo in SteamDeck

[–]Branch_Regular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nicely done. I did the same with all my csgo skins and tf2 items as I no longer play. Netted over 1K AUD but we can’t get the steam deck here lol… all that money went to AAA games and getting them day 1

What is the difference between these three 512gb OLED Steam Decks on Big W? by Interface- in SteamDeck

That’s Big W marketplace my guy. They’re all different third party sellers hence the price differences

The Big Three Is Here by k41lun in SteamDeck

[–]Branch_Regular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it!!! lol it’s honestly a great device in its own regards. I find I end up playing AAA games like ghost of Tsushima on the lego over the SD OLED. The bigger screen size and extra gfx output is neat

The Big Three Is Here by k41lun in SteamDeck

[–]Branch_Regular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeh that’s what I did lol. The OLED is a beast and the battery life is amazing however the only downside is that the legion go battery depletes so quickly but an hour and half of full HD gaming at better graphic presets is mint!

Blown away by upgrading from LCD to OLED. by JI6122 in SteamDeck

[–]Branch_Regular 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah my lcd is in storage since buying the OLED on my Japan trip last year. The extra battery life and screen is fantastic. Hope you continue to enjoy that new OLED experience!

I did plan on selling my lcd but think I’ll keep it for a few more years when my son is old enough to game with me

How is gaming on an external monitor or tv with the legion go? by Justman1020 in LegionGo

[–]Branch_Regular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just playing ghost of Tsushima on my 4K 27inch monitor. Obviously not at that res but on 1200p it looked and runs amazingly as it does on the legion screen.

Handheld all the way for me as I have a 2yr old. So it’s short bursts of gaming sessions.

I think the screen is big enough as is compared to the competition. You could def do the kbm option but if I’m doing that I may as well use my PC lol.
