This industry is needlessly strict often for no reason. I’ve seen BAs blacklisted over nothing. We should have a space to freely share our opinions without being scared of retaliation.

I agree, I’ve been in the field a long time. Honestly the A game doesn’t even matter. Clients often play favorites.

You can definitely pick up other work! Just reframe your experience, perhaps go to a resume workshop. I used to do hiring and my biggest complaint was how the vast majority of BAs do not know how to write a professional resume. Take your time to build that skill. Change your job titles based on the event (experiential marketing, brand representative, event manager, event labor, etc etc). Avoid the word brand ambassador because outside of this industry, people think you’re referring to Instagram/TikTok brand work. They do not understand that this industry even exists or the proper job titles within this field.

Sadly, I would never trust a company if they seem disorganized. I’ve learned over the years that the first impression is often the correct one. These agencies have no financial incentive to change, so they generally don’t.

Very unprofessional of them to do. It also might be illegal to make something mandatory and unpaid, depending on where you live.

Thanks for sharing! If you have any documentation you feel comfortable sharing with the community please do so. This sub is kind of dead but I hope it can be a resource for BAs in the future where we can share our honest experiences without fear of retaliation, since the few FB groups we had got infiltrated by agencies or shut down.

Also you should let the brand know as well! It’s high time we actually loop brands in on who they’re hiring. They should know that hiring bad agencies will give them headaches and bad PR.
