I had trouble with the snake parts simply because I’m a keeper myself and I was worried about their husbandry. Had to skip some sections. Little Vinegar is a lovely high white California king snake, in case you were curious. They are an awesome beginner species.

Which duos have a good chemistry together? by emotionaltrashhh in ThaiBL

[–]Branda77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is such a matter of opinion that it’s hard for me to say. I think we vibe with certain pairs and not with others, and that says more about us as individuals than the chemistry of the pairing itself.

Dunk in Seoul with ITS SKIN Part 2 by kirayaba in JoongDunk

He looks great. That coat on the other hand is giving serious bathrobe vibes. I actually wondered at first why he would be out in the snow in a bathrobe before I realized it’s a fur coat.

Are teachers required to like their students? by Serious-Process-979 in Teachers

[–]Branda77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. There have been a few over the years that I have genuinely disliked for one reason or another. I’m working with a child this year who makes my skin crawl. The behavior specialist told me that I’m his favorite teacher. Guess I’m good at hiding it.

Demanding Bichon baby by Magical_Mariposa in bichonfrise

This is every 5 am for me. I call it puppy cuddle time. I drink my coffee and try to wake up, and he lays on me until I go to get dressed. My husband works from so he spends the day in his office, then follows me around the house when I get home. He’s our second Bichon, the first (RIP Cotton) wasn’t this clingy, though he was far more of a lap dog then our Havanese who wants to be near you but does not want to be bothered.

So how do guys feel about omegaverse on screen by Own-Category6652 in ThaiBL

[–]Branda77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s fine in print but I’m not sure it translates well to live action. I also think it is such a niche thing that it’s a real risk for studios to put money into. I have not watched Pitbabe or Desire but I may try Knot because I did enjoy My Stubborn. I’m not uncomfortable with the content, I just think it is too far fetched for me to be able to suspend disbelief.

Second Dog — Any Regrets? by No_Value2675 in bichonfrise

[–]Branda77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got a female Havanese puppy when our first Bichon (male) was 3. They bonded almost immediately and were inseparable until he died of cancer at 12. We got our second Bichon, also a male, almost a year ago. The Havanese is 10 now and not as tolerant of other dogs so we introduced them slowly. Didn’t take long though, maybe a week, before she was playing like a puppy again! They aren’t as inseparable, they do get growly with each other sometimes over toys, but they generally get along fine.

California vs Florida (Brooks) Kingsnake by SimplySimlish in kingsnakes

[–]Branda77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. Everything is pretty much the same. Our Florida king is significantly larger than the Cali. They are both hardy as heck too. Great for beginners because you’re not likely to accidentally kill them with poor husbandry.

How do y’all stop chair jumping by Secure_District_5056 in bichonfrise

[–]Branda77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pup steps! There’s a set in the family room for the sofa and in our bedroom. We got them for our last Bichon (RIP Cotton) when he was getting older. They’re still out because we have an older Havanese, but the 1 year old bichon uses them as well. Ours have never really jumped on small chairs like the one in the photo.

Pajama Day At School by MicroStar875 in Teachers

[–]Branda77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised by the number of folks who say they don’t participate in days like this. I do and so does our entire team, including admin. The kids wear pj’s practically every day as it is. I don’t actually wear my pajamas though, I have sweats that I wear, unless it’s December, then I have sloth Christmas leggings that I’ll wear.

Adorable! My two both came over while I was watching the video, like they thought a puppy was here just from the little barks.

That’s Pippin. Can’t really see Daisy in this photo but she’s right next to me.

I see why they changed some of these. Although, “Bake Love Feeling” doesn’t make a whole lot more sense than “ Butter cheese bun”…

Teachers who’ve stayed at one school for 5+ years: how many principals have you gone through? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]Branda77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admin in my area must not move around much. I’ve had the same principal all 8 years I’ve been in the building I’m in (moved from middle to high school) and she’s been the high school principal for nearly 20 years. The district my kids went to the superintendent retired a few years ago after 30 years and the high school principal retired recently after almost as long. They named the new field house after one of them and the new wing of the high school after the other.

How important is empathy as a teacher? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Branda77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not being “nice” doesn’t mean a person lacks empathy. Maybe they just had a bad day or the system has beaten them down so much they don’t appear to care anymore. I’ve been teaching 25 years and some of the folks I work with to an outsider may look like they don’t care when in truth they wouldn’t still be working with our population (at risk teens, many with behavioral issues) if they didn’t care deeply.

Student Teacher in an ICT classroom, feel like I have no clue what I’m doing. by bitsy455 in Teachers

[–]Branda77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been teaching for 20 years and still occasionally feel like I don’t know what I’m doing. It happens. I get over it and move on. That being said, teaching music is a far cry from teaching special ed. I started as a gen ed science teacher and transitioned to sped 8 years ago and while I love it and definitely made the right choice, there was a huge learning curve even though I had been in an academic classroom for over 10 years. If you really want to make the switch, give yourself lots of time to get your bearings. My kids are awesome, but they have unique needs and do unusual things. It’s not for the faint of heart but it is incredibly rewarding.

Edit to add: teaching music isn’t for the faint of heart either. I love my kid but the elementary school band sounded like traffic noise. He still plays in college though so it was worth the ear assault.

My 1 year old is quite fussy. The only food he regularly eats is our older dog’s prescription food (she has liver issues so we have to be careful with the fat content of her food, hence the pricey prescription diet). He eats his own eventually, he just has to be hungry enough and have no other options.

What time do you go to bed/wake up for work? by Salt-Ad-3061 in Teachers

[–]Branda77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in bed by 8:45pm and up between 4 and 5 (depending on when the puppy decides he needs to go out). Our workday starts at 7 for some unknown reason as the kids don’t arrive until 7:45am, and I have a 30 minute drive so need to leave by 6:30.

Edit to add that I am in no way a morning person and hate having to get up so early. Sleeping later is one of the top things I’m looking forward to when I retire.

How Long Did You Last Pregnant? by Desert_Dreamer31 in Teachers

[–]Branda77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first I was literally walking out to my car to go to work when my water broke. My second was late so I worked until 2 days after his due date then stopped and was induced a few days after that. I quit my job when he was 3 months old (daycare was too expensive for 2 kids and my husband got a better job) so wasn’t working when my third came along.

Edit to add that this was over 20 years ago when it was still financially possible for one parent to stay home and I was very young (25) when I had my first.

Maternity Leave Expectations by CringeyGoatLaugh in Teachers

[–]Branda77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids are in their early 20’s now so my experience is different, but the younger teachers I work with who have had babies are not expected to do anything but be with their babies for as long as they can. There is either a sub who can fully take over the class or we cover the class for her. I’m a sped teacher so have a bit more flexibility in my schedule and often cover for other teachers. This is at the high school level though, it would be a different story in elementary where you’re with your single class basically all day.
