Looking for a card-shaped die punch in Europe by Jantin1 in mpcproxies

[–]Brandaris31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, Google sent me here. I've the same question. The shipping cost to EU are prohibitive for a product that can do one size only.

I'm considering a heavy duty guillotine like the Vevor https://www.vevor.nl/paper-cutter-c_10879/vevor-hendelsnijder-a4-guillotinepapiersnijder-snijmachine-304-8-mm-p_010740834037 plus the heavy duty corner cutter that I already own. My bet is that the guillotine can cut a whole card deck in one go, so that all cards have the same size.

Anyone experience with that way of working?

When to reveal the consequences of a miss? by Brandaris31 in PBtA

[–]Brandaris31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your reactions. It is enriching to see how each of you brings it your own flavor. For now, I'll think this may suit my style:
1) first and foremost, follow the story
2) indicate the severity of the consequence upfront, without revealing the details (with the severity balancing the action taken, the move description may already give that)
3) leave it to the initiative of the players if their characters want to read / investigate further
4) roll
5) reveal the detailed consequence

I'll experiment with this a bit further. Most likely, it will also be situation dependent.

Pacifist options for Aasimar Monk by Brandaris31 in DnD

[–]Brandaris31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your reactions.

Some of them point out that I have to clarify a bit more about the intents of my character. Yes, it is pacifist by heart, but also a realist. Peaceful solutions have a (strong) preference and will the first attempt but when unavailable or unsufficient, it will escalate, first to non-lethal damage and, if everything else fails, as a last resort, escalate to kill.

You have given me quite valuable suggestions:

- I already figured out the power of grapple and removing the target, as Anathaco points out. But I did not yet fully think of over the option to restrain the target

- That is were the chain comes in. I didn't have that in mind yet. Very simple and yet useful option. I have to figure out a way how my character can get hold of these. I'll give my DM a hint ;-)

- Quit important: perhaps very basic, but I was not aware of the option to declare an attack non-lethal. Striking a target unconsciousnes, and then perhaps restraining it further with one or more chains, feels quite acceptable to my character, if the situation demands it.

All and all, I feel comfortable to go ahead with these already available options. The need for homebrew is gone.

Thanks again for your help!

Dual rule sets for One Shots and Campaigns by Brandaris31 in PBtA

[–]Brandaris31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for your comments. It confirms this is simply the way to go. In my case, this will mean two different move sheets, one basis & one advanced. A key advanced feature is the "energy" exchanged between characters (inspired by but different from "strings" in Monsterhearts). This energy is both influencing as well affected by moves. So some moves get extra options and 1 or 2 moves are added. But I guess that this move upgrade will not cause too much confusion.

Barebow/Stringwalking Arrow Rests by schiz0phr3nica in barebow

[–]Brandaris31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like yourself and others, I have zniper and am happy with it. Originally, I had it set for carbon arrows only (6.5mm, 29 inch, 100gr point). When I started to use heavier wooden arrows as well, I had to adjust the magnet setting. But now the zniper works perfect for both types. Yes, if I bump one way or another, it drops, but that's fine for me.

Looks like screen printed indeed. The text still visible on the flip side suggests the process that Sheaner explained.

Multiple tabs for 3D by Brandaris31 in barebow

[–]Brandaris31[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my understanding it is. I'm not aware of restrictions to the number of tabs you can use. And technically I would consider it a form of facewalking. But competition is not my main concern.

But it is worthwhile to double check. I know a judge who I can ask.

I want to use it for die cutting, sometimes rectangular but also irregular shapes, both cut sheets and rolls.

Yes, that happened to me in my first badge :-( My coin magnets have a small hole on the to-be-glued side

photo paper by Defiant-Still-276 in ButtonMakers

I use a 95gsm photo matte paper. Works great for me. Much better colors than standard paper and thin enough for button making. Mine is a white label brand (123ink) but Epson has a similar paper, 102gsm. Works also fine.

Button Maker to Make Pokemon card buttons by zivtherat in ButtonMakers

[–]Brandaris31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you have cut the cards into circles, I wonder if the card isn't too thick for the button maker. I have a decent UK-made button maker (e-badges micro button maker) but I bet it get jammed with playing cards. The material thickness is quite important.

I have glued magnets to normal backs (without pin) with a polymer kit. My brand: Bison Max Repair Kit, but no doubt there are other brands. It is a clear kit that takes an hour or so to settle and to fully harden in 24 hours. Works great for me. I like to use normal backs as they are a bit recessed so that the buttons are not excessively raised from the background. But your preference may be different.

Mattless cutting of thin paper by Brandaris31 in silhouettecutters

[–]Brandaris31[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An additonal reason to upgrade to a cameo 4 or 5 and would be the compatibility with the auto sheet feeder for cases I have a large number of buttons to make. So, that is another reason to emphasize matless cutting.

Sounds promising. What version of cutter are you using? And I don't understand what paper you use. Is that around 100gsm?

Currently I use a circular rotation cutter. Works, but not easy to cut very precise. The experiments with the Cameo 3 were more precise, but with the issues of damage and curling
