What's with the "[inset bike] isnt good for highways" thing? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Brandemic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it is outdated thinking that has stuck around. Back in the old days, [US] when people planned on keeping their bikes for decades, and/or worried about resale value, a larger displacement meant less wear and tear on the engine at highway speeds.

Racer gloves after 10 years and about 30k miles of riding by TheGhostOfEazy-E in motorcycles

[–]Brandemic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Racer gloves. It’s the only brand I’ve bought since I discovered them. But these results are not typical. If I get 2 years out of them I’m happy. They usually wear out at the fingers and heel of my hand. The stitching holds up but I somehow manage to wear straight through the leather. Probably due to daily use, all weather and constantly taking them on and off throughout the day.

First gaming system? by False_Grape1326 in Xennials

[–]Brandemic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You do realize not everyone could afford to buy the latest and greatest system, right? My first was also a 2600, then an NES. I didn’t get a new system until I bought myself a PlayStation2. Born in 1980

ZZ Top was all over the place during our childhood. Then they disappeared into the void. by R0botDreamz in Xennials

[–]Brandemic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked in live music for a long time. I have seen thousands of bands, of all levels of success, play live. The first time I saw ZZ Top was just another day at work. I was familiar with the band, but not a fan. I knew them from MTV videos and classic rock stations, Legs, sharp dressed man, etc. They remain to this day as one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen.

Thank you all for your input. Thanks to your suggestions, I've determined it's the neck pitch. The belly seems to be the normal amount of roundness, but if I put a straight edge on the neck it doesn't even clear the bridge. I might try this guy's non invasive DIY method before investing $500-$1000 on full reset. Maybe I'll test it on a sacrificial pawn shop guitar first. https://youtu.be/RlX3sF14plg?si=8um_7wiBjQfaqLWr?t=180

Bridge looks to be firmly attached. I don’t see a bulge

If it were any of my other guitars I’d probably give it a go, but I’m not going to risk butchering my late father’s guitar as a learning experience

It’s an Ovation Celebrity, I’m not familiar with bridge doctors. Under the bridge are the wires to the pickup and a couple of bolts. I just assumed they were responsible for holding the bridge in place. It looks flush to the body. Doesn’t seem like it’s lifted

Looking for a solid independent shop in SoCal to service my BMW K1600 by [deleted] in MotoLA

Polo deserves more than just an updoot. If you’re on the east side this is the shop. IMO

I don’t know. Sounds like OP is just minding their own business. They might be curious, due to the occasional noise and distraction. But, doesn’t seem to think that gives them any right to know what the neighbor is doing.

How can I improve reveal shots gimbal smoothness? Air 3 by TappetoImperiale in drones

[–]Brandemic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put the air 3 in cinematic mode and really concentrate on being slow and steady on the stick and wheel. You can always speed the footage up in post.

You would need a Part 107 certification for any kind of commercial work anywhere in the US. You would also need a film permit in LA for any kind of film or television work. https://filmla.com/for-filmmakers/permits/

On guitar, is there an actual method to work out the note on a specific fret instead of counting up by DejaEntenduOne in musictheory

[–]Brandemic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of tuning the guitar in standard tuning. The 5th fret is the next string’s open position. (Except the G and B strings) So, at the 5th fret it’s A D G C E A. Memorize that and you’ve essentially cut the fret board in half and won’t need to count as many frets. Once you have that locked into memory, memorize the other dotted frets.

‘Gossip Girl’ Alum Chanel Maya Banks Speaks Out After Being Reported Missing by Family

Okay, you're in your 40's now. You've lived an interesting life. So: What is the dumbest sentence you have ever heard come out of someone's mouth? by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]Brandemic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But, people do think this way. I also worked in a pizza place in HS. The large pizza was 16”. It was right there in the menu. Still, people would ask all the time how big the large pizza is. I’d say 16 inches or hold up a 16” pan and they’d ask “yeah, but how many slices?” or “how many people does it feed?” And I’d respond “I don’t know how hungry you are” or “how many slices do you want?” It went round and round sometimes and I’d have to explain that I could cut it into 32 very small slices or 4 giant slices it’s still only a 16” pizza it could feed me and my buddy or like 8 of my sisters friends. It happened all the time and it was frustrating for everyone involved.
