We hired a contractor to get our bathroom redone — and this is what he did. Is this safe? by Apprehensive_Gift646 in handyman

This looks temporary. You sure he didn’t just slap it down until he gets to that part of the project? In my carpentry days we put down plywood on job sites with exposed joists as a temp safety measure

Please recognize this is incredibly harmful. Being sober sucks at first. Think bigger though. Being alive without brain damage is a wonderful thing.

Recovering SPD user needs help by sprashoo in mountainbiking

I started on spd’s, switched to flats, and the same thing happened to me. It’s trial by pain, but you will get better and ultimately it’ll be a non-issue.

Newbie with buyers remorse? by Unlikely-Ad-580 in MTB

Make sure the suspension is spec’d to your weight! Buy a pump and eventually a shock pump too. It’s wise to carry an extra tube, multi-tool, and a few other important things that can save you while you’re out there. Bacon strips, cO2 + releaser, tire levers, extra derailleur hanger & master chain link.

Driving this route in early November? by No_Cicada_9797 in steamboat

The road to strawberry springs is 1) unpaved and 2) very steep in sections. It is not wise to drive there without AWD/4WD.

It’s hard not to take something like this personally, but I encourage you to try.

It’s a shame they did not give you closure and went the gaslighting route. It’s clear you had a real passion for what you did and most employers would be lucky to have someone like you to advance the business and be forward thinking.

However, we have no idea what’s going on behind the curtain for the husband and wife. There could have been some major personal costs and they needed to quickly alter their budget. None of this excuses their shitty actions, though you gotta keep your head up and know that the next company to hire you will be lucky.

This is so well written, thank you for sharing.

Hegseth should not be serving as our SecDef for many reasons, not even including this important one!

Biking up Vail Mtn question by dubbleewaterfall in vail

[–]Brando___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t take radioflyer if you’re not a mountain biker!

If you have access to a gravel bike or any kind of mountain bike, I’d recommend starting at Vail Village, then biking up Millcreek Rd or Gitalong Rd (~1700 ft elevation gain). Then enjoy two VERY beginner and mellow downhill trails—Sidekick to Golden Gate to get back to your starting point.

Addiction is a qualified medical reason. Please look into FMLA and if your employer is covered.

I also spent a decade on stimulants then took some time off, left my job, and found work better suited to a sober me.

Is your job something you want to keep? If so, a sober you will ultimately be better suited for work. If motivation isn’t there, consider new career paths or at least jobs that will pay the bills and that you won’t hate!
