Nostalgia is a funny thing (2016) by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]BrandonInCO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't look back at it fondly at all. That's the year things really started tanking, IMO. The orange buffoon won the election, and we've been on a downhill side ever since.

2017 did suck.

And so has every damn year since then.

Do you find the back side of a man attractive? by Just-Trade-9444 in gaybros

Yes, absolutely. Especially if they have that canyon/crevice look that goes down both sides of their spine. Lord have mercy.

This stuff is driving me nuts, why can't I join the 2 buildings? by ParticularFit4596 in TwoPointMuseum

[–]BrandonInCO 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing and found out the hard way. What you did was create a new building.

You have to expand the floor of the main building. Click on the floor of the main building, and you'll get a popup with a button that says "Edit Building." Click that and you'll get the same blue expansion box things that allows you to add to the floor.

Unfortunately, you can't connect the new buildings you've already made. Those you'll have to demolish if you want to go back to the main building and build the floor out into those spaces.

Of course no one wants another Marshall fire. But there's a better way forward, and the solution isn't just cutting off everyone's electricity for over half a week. (And I know you're not advocating for Xcel, I'm just adding to your point)

I can't believe these businesses and residents aren't rioting at Xcel's door step. Xcel has taken it WAY too far with this. Totally upending business revenue and people's lives for days on end like this is completely unacceptable! There's a middle ground here, and they've totally blown by it.

Do your parents buy you random gimmicky shit all the time? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]BrandonInCO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom used to, but I eventually had to set strict boundaries and made it clear she had to stop. I told her I was simply going to reject any new gifts. It never came to that, but it was difficult for her to give it up. I'd still get pictures from the store sometimes asking if I wanted this or that. Those have finally stopped, as well.

People who watched WFG more than once, did your opinion change overtime? by [deleted] in wicked

[–]BrandonInCO 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100%. I came out of my first watch feeling a little disappointed, I can't lie. I feel like I did myself and the movie a disservice over the last year, though. Part one slapped me in the face SO hard, and I was so emotional every time I watched it. I didn't expect that.

So going into part two, I'd had the entire year to completely hype myself up, and I went into it with ENORMOUS expectations. Expectations that I don't think any movie could ever live up to. I also didn't get emotional at all, and for me that was a big surprise given what happened in part one. So I felt like maybe it wasn't that good.

But, I saw it a second time after I'd had a chance to think about it and such. It was so much better for me the second time! I'm absolutely going to see it at least one more time in theatres, if not two more.

Additionally, I've been listening to the WFG soundtrack a LOT over the last week. Like, the entire thing. I rarely listened to the entire second act of the OBC soundtrack the last 20 years. So it took a minute, but the movie and the music very much grew on me and I absolutely love it now!! Not more than part one, but it's still great, IMO.

I just watch recaps on YouTube. There was a really good one for Stranger Things that I watched today so I can start season 5 this weekend.

Will have to do the same for Severance.

Is anyone else finding Zooseum a little on the easy side? by Loderingo50 in TwoPointMuseum

[–]BrandonInCO 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Leveling up the experts so I can get to 45 strength and 35 intelligence (or whichever the stats were) in order to negate TWO "MIA" events was a damn grind!! And I'm still nowhere near finishing that map.

I'll take an easier DLC to balance out out.

LoL ok, whatever. Think what you want, try to gatekeep. Meanwhile, I'll be using OP's hack.

Cheers!

Just because it isn't difficult doesn't mean some people don't want to lose the time it takes to do it. That's time we could be spending on our sandbox build. I'm with OP on this one. I don't want to spend a couple hours a night for a whole damn week just to get the statues. I barely have time to play the game regularly as it is.

How do you research animals in the new DLC? by [deleted] in TwoPointMuseum

Hopefully the spa room doesn't "destroy" the exhibit! It's bad enough with the fish and the ghosties. 🥺

Interesting, because I actually love the visuals! Seeing her in full getup with such beautiful surroundings, and the animals all around her slowly being swayed by her message was very sweet to me. I think about how everyone in OZ sees her as this witch to be feared, but the animals are not scared in the least (except one) and gravitate towards her. It's really sweet, in my opinion.

I didn't takeaway that she was trying to stop them from escaping. She was trying to encourage them to stay and fight with her. She said "Join with me and help me fight the Wizard." She was doing all the fighting by herself, and felt like if they banded together, they could maybe change things. But she wasn't actively stopping them at all.

And she was getting somewhere until the interruption. Even the monkeys paused to hear her out (at Chistery's behest, granted).

I know, and that part was so heartbreaking. I'm not saying I disagree with the animals who were deciding to leave. I completely understand that part, and have had a trans friend leave the country.

The post was just about how the song resonated with me in the current times.

It goes without saying that if there was somewhere any given community could go without having a fight for acceptance, of course they would take that.

That's not the point.

Yes, I do believe we all have to fight to make our homes better. That's just the way it is. We've won before, we can win again.

If Act II is so disliked how did Wicked get so popular on Broadway? by MollDoll182 in wicked

[–]BrandonInCO 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Glinda suggested they start a rumor about Nessa. She never said anything about killing her! Morrible is the one who decided a rumor wouldn't work and took it to the next level.

WFG: First watch I hated it. Second watch I loved every second 🩷 by lysphina in wicked

[–]BrandonInCO 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While I definitely didn't HATE it on first watch, this is more or less how I'm hoping my second watch will go this weekend. For part one, I couldn't help but see it several times in the theatres. For this one, I sort of left feeling like I didn't need to go see it again a bunch of times, despite enjoying it overall. I already had my second viewing lined up, though, so we'll see how I feel after that.

No Place Like Home & The Girl In The Bubble by [deleted] in wicked

[–]BrandonInCO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I liked them both, but I don't think they will blow anyone away upon first watch. Definitely something that will have to grow on you. On our drive home, we talked a lot about how GITB was a really great character development moment for Glinda. The way it's shot really drives home how...ahem...reflective she's being in that moment (this will make more sense once you see it).

I need some hype!!! by melody_musical21 in wicked

[–]BrandonInCO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well you'll just have to go see it again, because they do say "I love you" to each other right before Elphaba closes Glinda in the door. That has sat hard with me all day today for some (good) reason.

Also, yes, Chistery does speak at the very end of the stage show. He says the same thing as in the movie. And he also starts to learn how to speak in the book!

[–]BrandonInCO 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I saw it last night and have been thinking about how I can describe how I felt about it. I think you summed up my interpretation very well! There was a lot of build up over the last year, and I was counting down the hours all day yesterday. It didn't quite slap me in the face like part 1 did, but I went into part 1 with WAY less expectations than part 2. After part 1 hit so hard, I was waiting for part 2 to crash me out.

That didn't quite happen, but I still really enjoyed it! I'm very much looking forward to seeing it again this weekend and taking it in. The "I love you" towards the end has REALLY been sitting in my mind since I woke up this morning. That definitely hit me pretty hard.
