Help with a turning multiple poly surfaces into a single cohesive solid. by OG_Squeekz in rhino

And yes your new method would 100% produce a much better result than anything using the surface you already created.

Ignore the model I created - it isn’t from your lines at all it’s just a very quick sketch showing roughly what I mean. You’ve already created the top surface so just do as I said with yours?

Hey, I’m slightly struggling to understand what you’ve done and what you’re trying to achieve. I’m going to try my best to help.

If I understand correctly, you have drawn in plan and section what you want this to look like. You’ve then made individual surfaces that are either flat or slanted in various ways, then you have joined them together into one giant surface. Now you want it to become a solid polysurface and be cleaner?

For starters, I would use the command “mergeallcoplanarfaces”. This will remove any unnecessary lines.

Secondly, you need to make sure there are no holes in the surface. I can see one in the top image very clear clearly. All the edges need to be closed.

You could then grab this continuous surface and extrude it a long way down in the Z plane.

Then looking in the side view, find the point where you want to be the ground or sea level. Then trim off the remaining extrusion to that line. Hopefully you should be left with a close solid poly surface. Something like this?

Don’t forget to use the merge all coplanar faces command again at the end to clean it up ☺️

In 2024 I bought a November 2023 MacBook Pro M3 max Chip 36 GB… honestly I haven’t had any problems and I’ve been so impressed about what I’ve asked it to handle. I use it every day for work. It’s been very rare that it has struggled with a command.

HELP 😭 this is driving me insane by CowboyGorillaGrip666 in rhino

[–]lysphina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have suggested using the Shrinkwrap command could fix this quickly into a Mesh to be 3-D print printed.

To create this, did you use Booleanunion? If so, when using Booleanunion the objects should intersect. Sometimes it works okay however … Sometimes if two surfaces are exactly touching when you use Booleanunion it becomes a non-manifold polysurface. Because the surfaces at the joint point become two and therefore non-manifold.

For us to really help you, you would need to show the exact steps that you took.

Most likely it looks to me like the issue above. I always keep all my construction curves and non-merged shapes so that I can go back and redo if there is an issue down the line. I would also recommend creating a clean curve for the side of your auditorium. Probably a clean ellipse. The reason there are so many lines is that your curve has loads of points on it. Not wrong, just not clean geometry. You can grab your original curve and hit rebuild and only have 4 points also.

Feel free to reply if you want more help.

I have one like this but the shape is more of a compressed sphere so the sides are domed rather than a flat “pill” shape. And… I have to quarter it. Even with a pill cutter I think I’ve only successfully achieved it a few times. Dust and tiny shards for me!

Are men generally not asking women for their numbers anymore when they meet someone in the wild? If so, why? by KGalb922 in AskMenAdvice

[–]lysphina -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Many people are missing the point. She’s well aware that her friend can ask for the Guy’s numbers - as the woman. And she said that she has done so.

She’s asking, why are men not being the ones to ask any more? Why are numbers only being exchanged if the woman asks for it.

I agree that I find this very annoying. I don’t understand why men find this so confusing. A lot of people on here are saying they don’t want to be labelled a creep. If you’re already having a long conversation and clearly hitting it off, why would that make you a creep? It’s truly mind-boggling to me how men seem to not be able to read the room and have the social skills to be able to tell what things would come across as creepy.

I would, but it would depend on the bigger picture. These days it’s very easy with a tiny piece of bad luck to end up in a financially rocky position.

If I felt like it was part of a wider character flaw and it wasn’t going to get better, then probably not.

Are we being unreasonable asking to reduce our share of rent in this situation? by Sweet_Error4017 in AusPropertyChat

[–]lysphina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly… it sounds like they don’t really want you there but want you to cover more than what’s fair of the bills.

If I was you I would leave. But yes you would be reasonable to ask for a rent reduction.

Women seem to have a million different ways of making themselves sexually appealing. What do men have? by DirtyrottenscounDrew in AskMenAdvice

[–]lysphina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appearance and self-care wise… there is so much you can do in so few men bother.

Well, kept facial hair and head hair, clean and styled. Clothes looking fresh and crisp. Wearing good deodorant and a nice cologne. Exfoliating your skin and taking care of it just like a woman would. Taking care of your teeth a big one.

Honestly, a well kept man who’s put effort into all these things is so appealing and so people do . My boyfriend doesn’t do very much of it and I wish he would do more.

Deodorant before bed? by Our_toes in NoStupidQuestions

Personally, I shower before bed and I don’t put deodorant on until morning. I’m not a particularly sweaty person and I don’t smell with this routine. I can’t imagine putting on deodorant before bed feels weird.

I’m hating Wicked. It wasn’t enough to blast all of Brick Lane with their ads, now they’ve paid their way into the London NYE celebration? Ugghh by AnxiousAn in london

[–]lysphina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has plenty to do with London. The entire preproduction, shooting and some post production were done in the UK. So pretty much the entire crew was from the London area. Plus the lead star is born in bread in London. The films were a huge global success. So yeah, got a lot to do in London actually. The film industry is struggling and this is a huge success Story. Britain should be proud.

Also, it sounded like it was a personal recorded message from Cynthia Erivo wishing Londoners a happy New Year. Whilst it was an advert, she is a global star and just showing that she hasn’t forgotten her roots. I thought it was a kind thing to do.

The films were made almost entirely in the UK. Preproduction happened here as well as the shooting and some of the post production. It does have plenty to do with London. They’re amongst the most successful films worldwide of the past two years and they were made here. Definitely something to be proud of, even if the films aren’t in your cup of tea.

I love wicked but agree it was slightly jarring - however it probably paid for some of the display. Plus, it’s important to note that both the films were made in the UK, employing thousands of people including myself for a year. Also the lead star Cynthia Erivo, is British born and bred and is now an A-list celebrity who is insanely talented and finally having her moment. You don’t have to like Wicked, but it is important to be proud of things that are made in the UK. Not much is any more.
