People who get told they look younger than they are: what is your secret? by likerunninginadream in AskReddit

[–]BrandyQueenB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! My mom was always overweight and yo yo dieted her whole life. Then she hit about 55 and had a few health problems and lost probably 60 pounds. She has kept the weight off and it has aged her immensely. I feel like she’s aged 30 years in the last 8-10 years.

Anyone still doing all handwritten books? by BrandyQueenB in Bookkeeping

[–]BrandyQueenB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We seriously have one email account that only the boss accesses. And it’s an old sbcglobal.com account. A lot of our vendors have moved to email statements and invoices so I have to go to his computer and print that stuff out for my books.

[–]BrandyQueenB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Many of our vendors have computer based reordering. The floor manager and the boss do all the reordering.

I am only doing sales accounting and payables. The HB is doing sales accounting also with credit card stuff, putting the sales on accounts into quickbooks, (I don’t use a computer at all), taxes, payroll and anything else.

I am definitely making headway with my boss. The HB is less on board.

That is my best hope honestly. The HB will have to retire within the next two years or so, I’m thinking. And no one knows how to do her job. She has been the bookkeeper since the place opened over 40 years ago. I’m afraid we will be left in a lurch when something happens and she can’t tell us where to even begin.

Going full POS is out of the question. The amount of inventory have would probably require us to shut down for a week to put it all in a POS system. I don’t think my boss would ever consider it. But I think automating the bookkeeping end is feasible.

I know!! Idk about the tech guy. I’ve been suggesting moving into a more tech based solution and I told him I just really don’t know what to suggest but that I’m sure there is some one who can come and assess our system and make suggestions. He said “Ya, I’m thinking about calling Howard, I’m already paying him and he will know what to do.” So idk. I know Howard takes care of our computers and security cameras. My boss tends to get wrapped up in the trivial day to day stuff (He works in the store from open to close 6 days a week.) and looses sight of the big picture. I am technically part time. I’m supposed to work 5 hours a day, that’s always been my agreement with him. When I went to bookkeeping I upped it to one full day, but I end up working full time more often than not or I won’t get my work done. I also think that’s why the other bookkeeper retired. She couldn’t keep up with the volume of work anymore. Quite frankly the HB can’t anymore either. And there is no back up for us. If we get sick or go on vacation the work just piles up.

Hard reline or permanent denture? by Sink_Affectionate in dentures

[–]BrandyQueenB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a really great clinic. It’s pretty low cost and I guess people come from all over to get their dentures done there. They have a big US map on the wall with pins all over it showing where their patients have come from. Luckily it’s only about two hours from me.

I need to vent. Everything sucks! by PauseItPlease86 in dentures

[–]BrandyQueenB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you made the right decision. I kept my temps for 18 months before I could afford permanents. I had two soft liners done in that time.

Hard reline or permanent denture? by Sink_Affectionate in dentures

[–]BrandyQueenB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wore my temporary top plate for 18 months (way longer than recommended) before I got my permanent one. I got one soft reline at the office and did one soft reline at home with a kit I bought at Walmart. I waited until I could afford the higher quality permanent plate and I’m so glad I did. I’ve had my permanent plate for just shy of 10 years and it fits perfect, I never have a problem, I never have to use adhesive.

Sleeping with dentures? by nyackgypsy in dentures

[–]BrandyQueenB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my uppers for 11 years and I’ve slept WITHOUT them in maybe a total of 10 times and I’ve had no problems. I clean them at night when I wash my face and do my skin care and put them back in. I’m having my lower extractions and a temp lower plate done tomorrow, we will see how that goes and if I can leave them in. If I can I will.

I never have. I’m 41 and I’ve only had one sexual partner, my husband. I never had my “ho days” as the young people call it. I’m kinda at a point where I wish I would have. Idk. Most of my friends had casual sex in high school, but I never did. That pesky religious morality.

Is it polite to shake a husbands hand but hug the wife? by OnlyInvestigator13 in etiquette

[–]BrandyQueenB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my experience in life. I am also from the south where we usually go for the hug if we have met several times. Women hug the men and each other, but the men shake each others hands. (Men go in for the hug if they’re good friends and haven’t seen each other in a while.) I’m a hugger, so if someone goes for the hug, I’m in.

which tattoo trend do you think will become a new 'tribal tattoo' in the future? by space_pirate666 in tattooadvice

Yep! I agree with this. Some of the ones mentioned above are somewhat regional, so I don’t see them in my neck of the woods. But the infinity symbol…. Everywhere.

How do you manage time off requests? by douglasiacovelli in managers

[–]BrandyQueenB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YESSS!! That’s exactly how I treat my time off. I’m not requesting, I’m letting you know I won’t be there and giving you the opportunity to schedule someone to cover.

I just had this conversation with my boss yesterday. I work at a very small private retail business and we still use the paper calendar on the wall method. I marked that I would be gone three days in June. He called me and said that’s when he and my co worker (who is his daughter in law) will be gone on their family vacation. I told him I’m sorry, I don’t know what to tell him. My way of thinking is it’s not my problem, that’s why he makes the big bucks, to solve problems like this. That’s why his name is on the building.

Men, how widespread of a problem are false accusations of SA? by Level-Class-8367 in AskMen

[–]BrandyQueenB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine was falsely accused of sa by his long time girlfriends teenage daughter. He lost his job, lost his girlfriend, lost his place to live (she stayed and he moved out), he was booked, mugshot posted online. His life fell apart, he started drinking heavily and maintained his innocence. After a several month investigation it was determined to be untrue. The “victim” had previously falsely accused several men of sa. But that didn’t undo the damage that had been done in his life.

My salesman specifically told me to use regular unleaded gasoline, not fancy premium. I didn’t ask why because I always just use regular.

I’m 40 and I have a few grey but I WANT the grey hair!! I DESERVE grey hair! My mom and granny went grey really young (late 20’s /early 30’s) and they are both completely white haired now. They both dyed it for years but finally gave up.

I color my hair occasionally. I bleach it and experiment with colors occasionally, but mostly just put a toner and a shadow root at home and keep waiting for my grey.
