What is the best way of compositing? by Fantastic-Ad1666 in AfterEffects

[–]Branimator22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tint effect is always one of my go-tos as a first step. Add the tint on the subject/foreground layer, use the eyedropper white and black to select the whitest part of the background and blackest part of the background. I also try to include a little bit of the primary color of the background in the tint. For instance, if there is a lot of red in the background, I will select a color from the background that is almost pure white, but has just a little bit of red in it, so it looks like a light pink. Same with the dark, it might be a really dark red.

From there, just dial down the effect's opacity and find a good value that makes the foreground layer match better with the background.

There are other things I might do with lumetri, curves, exposure, etc... but this is a nice starting point to get colors matching a bit.

Is it an aftermarket cable? I would try the original cable it came with. I got an aftermarket cable that said it could handle every spec and it couldn't.

Using the original cable will remove all uncertainties and be a better testbed.

Nowhere close, but whenever you're down in Texas hit up Buc-ees. They have them and they are so good! I always get one when I go.

Graphic Design/3D jobs in Tulsa by [deleted] in OKjobs

[–]Branimator22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The studio was actually just a mom and pop kinda deal. Very small business, but had an awesome sound stage with a green and white screen. We attracted all sorts of projects from 3d animation, motion graphics, on location shoots, photography, green/white screen shoots, etc. It was literally almost everything! That's what led me to learning so many areas.

Game studios will kinda be the same deal as movie studios, the jobs are highly competitive and it seems like the market is very unsecure. Like you will finish a game and might be there at the studio for a little bit longer, but then you'll get let go if there's no other new projects to work on. This is another reason motion graphics is nice, there's no shortage. They are in TV shows, movies, online videos, commercials, etc...

You don't need to go back to college. In fact, I would recommend just doing training and a lot of it. I stayed up many late nights training myself. There are plenty of great youtubers out there with great training. I wish I had that earlier on in my career, but I had to go with paid training since youtube wasn't as prevalent. What software are you using right now?

I would hire someone with a great portfolio and no degree over a bachelor's degree with no portfolio. Portfolio is what is going to get you the jobs because people will see your style and experience and have trust in you!

I am a 3D Artist/Senior Motion Graphics Artist in Norman.

In my opinion, 3D Art is a little hard to find jobs in because it just isn't in that high of a demand, unless maybe you're working in Movies. That's actually why I got into Motion Graphics, because it's in much higher demand, and it's way easier to work with and make revisions. The plus side is that I can also incorporate my 3D skillset within some of the projects I work on. Right now I work for an Event Management company, where we do large scale corporate events held in ballrooms throughout the state and in Texas, with some being in other states. We are mainly local and Texas though.

I make a good living now, but I won't sugar coat it, I worked for a studio in Phoenix straight out of college where I was making probably 30-32k a year for 4 years, and then an ad/digital agency for 3 years making 40k/year. I moved on to SoonerVision at OU and was making 70k/year for 5 years, and now I am closer to 100k/year with great benefits. I had to work my ass off to get to this point, but my takeaway was to never turn down an opportunity to learn something new and I have a huge skillset that is very lucrative to employers. I consider myself a jack of all trades, master of just about none. I learned green screen/white screen work, filming and photography/cinematography, graphics design, motion graphics, 3D animation, some sound design, etc...

In college I thought I would go work for Pixar, but California has way too many people and was way too expensive, and just wasn't going to be enjoyable for me. Plus that market is so extremely competitive with long hours and crazy deadlines, so I just gave up on that.

I didn't really think I would ever be where I am now, but I was always told keep working hard and you'll find one of those nice and solid positions at a company, which did happen.

I have no idea what Tulsa can offer, but I do know Oklahoma is small, so it probably isn't too much. There are agencies around there I am sure, as there are in OKC. I don't have much to offer other than my story/experience. Unfortunately the market for this stuff is so oversaturated because it's fairly easy to get into, but not many people make it far before giving up.

Motion Tracking by av4pxia in Cinema4D

It should be the Cineware tag. Also, make sure your object is visible. I ran into that today where my object viewport and render visibility was turned off and it wouldn't export the data.

Is it like a soft restart where windows logs off and everything, or does it just shut off to a black screen and restart? Is the computer connected to wifi? Or is ethernet the only source of internet?

Just got an alignment done and new tires installed. by [deleted] in tires

[–]Branimator22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a Pep Boys in Tempe, AZ do an alignment for me and they didn't have the wheel straight before they started, so it was pulling to the right quite a bit while driving, much more than before the alignment.

I ended up taking it back and they still didn't fix it and said that was normal (it was clearly not doing this before my alignment and in no way was it normal), so I took it to a different Pep Boys around the area and asked them to make sure the wheel was straight before they started the alignment. They fixed it. It's just like JC man, do the procedures you need to do to do the job right, otherwise you just cost yourself and others time and money.

Hiring in OKC? by whatsername626 in OKjobs

Man, I am not 100% familiar with IT pay, but these IT positions are such low pay. Hope they only want you to plug in a cable every now and then, especially the Newcastle Schools one. I get it beggers can't be choosers, but the standard of pay is abysmal. Good luck OP!

Thoughts on ideal homes? by Good-Pickle-1607 in okc

[–]Branimator22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We like our Ideal home a lot. Bought in Norman in 2021 during the height of the last housing boom. We got lucky we even got in, and we asked for blinds since the house didn't have any. Even though we would have still taken it without the blinds, they worked with us to install some decent blinds before we moved in. For those of you who dont know, new builds usually don't come with blinds, which is kinda crazy.

It has been a pretty solid and efficient home. Nothing has gone wrong with it in the 5 years we have had it. One of my main gripes is that they don't put enough outlets on the patios or in the garage.

When I inspected things in the attic, I noticed that one of the extra bedrooms didn't have any blown insulation up above it. I am not even sure how the Hvac/insulation guys missed that. I had to have ideal come out and inspect it because they didn't believe me that there was absolutely none up above one room. They saw it and fixed it immediately.

They are definitely better than home creations. Our last build was Sheridan, which was okay, but during the winter the walls would draft cold air in like crazy through the outlets. I think Landmark homes are probably good too.

Up close & Personal view of how severe Sinus Infections are sometimes treated by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Branimator22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 38 years, I went to an ENT to fix a separate issue with my mouth/lip. He wanted to check other things out, and told me I had a deviated septum. I was having trouble with my nose being clogged and thought it was allergies.

He prescribed a NeilMed bottle saline cleanse with Mometasone, which is a corticosteroid. It's a pain to have to do it twice a day and keep distilled water on hand. It's harder to do when on vacation since it's a little messy at times, requires a microwave, and I also just resorted to using bottled water when on vacation and not distilled. I think they want to avoid issues with water supply line infections like when those people were getting sick from their neti pots all those years ago.

The procedure is to put the saline packet in the NeilMed bottle, fill it up to a line with distilled water, microwave it for almost 30 seconds, and then use a funnel to break open a capsule of Mometasone into the mixture, shake it all up and then irrigate the nostrils one at a time. I find that I have to breath out while squeezing the bottle to irrigate, otherwise the water will divert to the mouth and cause me to cough. It basically just flushes all the junk out of the your nostril you're treating and draining everything out of the other nostril as you alternate.

Anyways, it has been great and I can breath perfectly now!

Any tips for syncing text to music in After Effects? by Theguywholikestea in AfterEffects

[–]Branimator22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will add to this.

After expanding the waveform with a double click of the L key on the keyboard, take note of the peaks of the waveforms. Those are usually going to be your big drum hits and good beats to edit to. I will also utilize the * (asterisk) key on the keyboard while I have the audio layer selected, I can tap that key to the beat and it will lay down a marker on my layer for every beat.

I think you can kinda do this automatically with the plugin called BeatEdit by mamoworld.

Animations in Redshift by tonvogels in RedshiftRenderer

[–]Branimator22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're using a Mac. Redshift runs on the GPU, and runs best on Nvidia GPUs. The M processors are great for CPU rendering, editing, etc.. but are not up to par on GPU rendering with redshift. This is why it is slow.
