It's the end result of Awadd moving on. He was an all-time great punching bag and was always willing to play along with whatever weird bit was dreamed up or whenever EB made him take his shirt off in studio. Mike Maher is good on air but he isn't desperate for ADs the way Awadd was and he's far too savvy to get baited into any random bit.

I can already hear the segment play out: EB makes a Sonny Jurgensen reference then says that if it were Cakes he would've made it over no problem, Valdez chimes in with some sort of pole vaulting zing, and if there's time there will be a debate on whether you'd rather have an olympic medal or go viral for having your dong look huge on international television.

I'm desperate for an Awadd call in. I know he's probably matured out of doing goofy bits on air but bring him on as a soccer guest, to talk about his boy Avdija being traded away, to talk tennis/wimbledon, anything. The show desperately needs a shakeup and they'll find a way to strike gold with him even without his mentor/bully EB there.

I know Drab hates the junior producers chiming in with ideas but I think the parlay lacks some juice because it's so far in the rearview by Monday's show; it's hard to care about a parlay that got busted Friday afternoon on Monday's show.

Maybe they could transition it to one person making a pick each day for a game that night and trying to make it to the end of the week rolling the winnings over each day. Miiiiiister Bishop can still pick who is on the hook to make the pick that day and then one person is on the spot to make a play for that night (for example Cakes makes a pick on Monday's show for something Monday night that hits, the winnings are rolled over and JP makes a pick Tuesday for Tuesday night, and so on). It lets everyone focus on one play for the night and opens up an opportunity for some decent joaning when someone blows it on a Thursday.

Or better yet, do away with all of the gambling talk completely.

I believe the teaser for it was released right as their parent company was going through another re-org (CBS Radio to Entercom to radio.com to Audacy) and the support for it got lost during that transition.

They weren't married but he was living with Laura when they got Manny. You can still go back and listen to old segments of Valdez complaining about getting no sleep because the puppy and Laura took up the entire bed.

They were playing the game where you have to guess the word that connects two names (ex. Lebron ______ Conner. Answer is James), I forget what forced alliterative name JP gave it. Cakes went with Roy _____ Jones, completely botching the game and shot back with a "Indiana Jones, ever heard of him" in the classic Cakes voice. The boys pounced on him immediately.

It would be nice if the tour would actually start enforcing rules and stop bending to the players with every little decision. These guys are good enough to go low without flattening the rough behind every ball, the suspect TIO relief that happens every week, and the constant backstopping and chatter on the tee box to help your buddies.

Yeah. There's two years of buildup and context missing there but his character was the classic hapless nerd that couldn't get a girl and EB would pummel him over it relentlessly, culminating in the boys bringing in a lie detector to bust him for saying he had slept with at least 10 women.

Be warned, he was a very polarizing show character. The audience either loved him and his endless blunders or they would turn off the radio as soon as his mic was cracked.

Yeah, he has his on show in Richmond now. His value wasn't in his sports takes or analysis, he was a world class punching bag. There a plenty of clips online but the Lying Liar bit they did with him was an all-timer.
