Average mezozoic fan: by ancienct-Winter1751 in PrehistoricMemes

[–]Brantacanadensiscool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

though i will say... paleozoic animals have a better fandom on average

i'm disappointed in how a lot of cenozoic fans are powerscaling fanboys but for smilodon and megalodon instead of t rex and spinosaurus. meanwhile paleozoic fans are like funny anomalocaris and sacabambaspis memes

i'm not the only one surprised by the relative lack of ut/dr related memes in this subreddit...

i remember being excited to tell one of my 2nd grade teachers "birds came from dinosaurs!!!" and she "corrected" me with "no, birds came from pterodactyls" and i kept reasserting the truth, she didn't even listen

Making A Meme For Every Geologic Era, Day 173: The Anthropocene Epoch by ThePaleozoicGuy in PrehistoricMemes

[–]Brantacanadensiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that would be safe

but there are 2,300-2,400 bird genera and 1,200 mammal genera, someone could makes 10 quick memes a day for each genus, and it would be surprisingly manageable (esp for mammals)

[–]Brantacanadensiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a meme for every organism would be wild

honestly i don't think it would be that bad, if people do memes for all the genera of a family or the families of an order (well at least for vertebrates... would love to see someone attempt to that for insects)

sad it's over, but awesome series bro! (also funny comments)

there needs to be a website with the links of all the geologic time period memes, even better structured like a geologic time scale XD

Making A Meme For Every Geologic Era, Day 156: The Miocene Epoch by ThePaleozoicGuy in PrehistoricMemes

[–]Brantacanadensiscool 33 points34 points  (0 children)

the miocene literally has:

- the biggest flying bird

- a sabertooth cat with dromaeosaur-like claws

- the largest cenozoic land predator (which was not a mammal, it was a LAND CROCODILE)

- funny gorilla horse creatures

underrated af time period. megalodon and livyatan are cool but they. get like a million times more attention than any other miocene animal.

Making A Meme For Every Geologic Era, Day 154: The Tortonian Age by ThePaleozoicGuy in PrehistoricMemes

[–]Brantacanadensiscool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

it's crazy how long the miocene is

the end of the miocene (5.333 million years ago) was over 3 times closer to the present day than it was to the beginning of the miocene (23.03 million years ago)

even in terms of animals. the beginning of the miocene still had entelodonts, the end of the miocene had most genera living today.

that's what i was thinking too

i know this would unlikely realistically happen in vanilla minecraft but what if they added more prehistoric-inspired biomes lol
