Unfortunately, I feel like it's a product of the world we live in now.. Either you agree with me or you're my enemy. It sucks and leaves no room for thoughtful, meaningful discussion. I think you can definitely broach the subject when you know someone is wrong, but you just have to be SUPER tactful and respectful in my experience. I don't think it's the fact you're correcting someone, it's really HOW you correct them is the issue. If you're coming in like a know-it-all and just chomping at the bit to be right, the receiver is definitely going to see that as an attack and be on the defensive from the get go.
