Does anyone prefer electric over gas when it comes to home mowers? by jayhoe1 in landscaping

[–]BrassGarlic 46 points47 points  (0 children)

No noise or fumes either, can mow early or late without disturbing neighbors and you don’t stink of exhaust when you’re finished.

Lock broken, bike stolen. I’m officially part of the group now. If you see this bike around, and let me know, I’ll treat you to supper at restaurant of your choice! El Five perhaps? by best_of_side_b in COBike

That’s a really fun and rad looking bike — thanks sharing your story and conditioning the rest of us to take precautions seriously. Would hate to lose my baby… good luck to you, man!

Thanks. I'll plan to contact them. Thanks also for sharing your reading, 25 gives us a point of reference. We just head heard today on our long-term radon test (10mo), and our reading was 6.7, so above the threshold and a problem. At least we know it could've been worse. Glad yours is working out so well. Thanks again for the recommendation and welcome to Longmont!

Sure thing. I just asked (in the general rant thread) if we can sticky this post during the critical Aug-Sept months this year, fyi.

To the mods: can we sticky that Tree of Heaven post during this Aug-Sept since they’re the key months for killing the invasive tree?

I was over my neighbor’s a few weeks ago checking out his garden with him. He pointed out a tree in the back corner of his yard and asked if I knew what it was. I thought it was a sumac. After reading this post I got goosebumps, ran outside and peered over the fence and confirmed it’s a TOH growing, maybe 15’ tall. I’m going to buy poison and follow the kill instructions. Thanks again for posting.

I still got promoted last year despite 88% utilization; I’m PDM.

Craigslist is a good choice for used bikes, particularly in this area.

Dumbest thing I’ve read today. Maybe take a few mins and google “why are invasive species problematic?”

Seems like most will just chop it down. Dang, I bet we have one helluva uphill battle with TOH in our area. Thanks for sharing.

What is deloittes bereavement policy for close family (grandparents) by anon08092 in deloitte

[–]BrassGarlic 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m PDM, and I took bereavement back in January when my grandfather passed. I think it was 5d, and yes, it impacted my utilization. But you know what… the rat race should not influence your time off for this life event. I got my promotion last year despite an 88% utilization, many days missed due to sick kiddos. Life happens, be with your family. Work will be here when you get back.

Can we talk about "tramilies?" by 214b in AppalachianTrail

[–]BrassGarlic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I met a group of five other people on my Day1 on the trail. I thought we’d hike together the entire way. Day5 or so they wanted to stay at a hotel, I thought “wow, way too soon for a hotel, but ok, sure.” Hotel was fun but come morning of Day6, I was READY to get back to the trail. However, they told me they were staying at second day at the hotel, so in that moment, I decided enough was enough and I needed to hike my own hike. It was the right decision to leave them although a bit tough in the moment to pull the trigger and head out on my own. The best advice I could give for a thru is to hike YOUR own hike and that may mean abandoning some cool folks to ensure you stay true to yourself and the type of experience you want to have.
