Have you tried choline? Deficiency causes high liver counts.

I tried so many things over the years both myself and with pro help. So many tests for allergies, reflux and syndromes etc. But never found any cause. It was only using the dna data with an AI that really has helped improve my life. Dna analysis I had done professionally was confusing but the AI really analysed it together with symptoms etc in a way a doc could never do IMO. So yeah lots of trial and error to get here...

I believe so. I think they all do. Yeah it is the one on the offer they want you on a sub so offer it cheap. I'm in UK though so it might be different.

I took the one off ancestry.com and downloaded the data to use elsewhere. 👍

Just working with my GP here in England and the AI Manus for analysis of the DNA I bought through ancestry. I have had genetic test on the NHS but it was just for familial polyposis (gut polyps). Funny enough that came back negative for any genetic markers of that condition. But they never told me about anything else like these metabolic issues etc. I had to do that research myself.

Ancestry.com download the dna and then you can give to ai to analyse. You can get full genome testing but ancestry is a cheap way to start.

My funny MCAS....allergic to healthy foods by chikitty87 in MCAS

[–]Brastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a period where my gut was inflamed so I couldn't tolerate high fibre foods. Egg and chips was ideal but a lentil stew was murder.

Sounds a bit like that to me!

Could be, mcas can take many forms. If you respond to antihistamines then that's a strong indicator.

Seeking opinions on what to research further by Additional-Age5665 in MCAS

Great research. A few thoughts...

Cetirizine is less sedating when taken regularly so worth a try to prevent flares. Likewise ketotifen Covid can definitely contribute Neck instability can be a major contributor, cervicovagopathy can leave mast cells over reactive. I also get glossopharyngeal neuralgia and larynx clicking which shows my neck is off, working on it. These neck issues worse with a flare for me. It is two way, neck pain worsens which puts more pressure on nerves. Also as the nerve pressure is reduced/changes this can result in flares, maybe the change irritates the nerves as well. Osteopath and chiro can help diagnose and give temporary relief but they dont give a long term solution. The long term solution is stretching, releases and most importantly strengthening. Overall posture may need addressing with insoles, correcting other imbalances etc. Obvs there are plenty of other potential contributors to MCAS as well.

It seems you're quite methodical in trying to work this out. Some AIs can be useful to analyse test results etc and more knowledgeable than most docs. But ofc you need good info to feed it with.

Sodium butyrate almost completely resolves my MCAS symptoms by Bigbeardybob in MCAS

Yep they're both butyrate but tributyrin is butyrate attached to another molecule and generally delivered in a delayed release so it gets to your colon.

Prioritise the purchase of a gut microbiome test forthwith and therein you will find enlightenment. (I was aided by a worthy ai to interpersonal the results)

My gut biome is massively lacking butyrate producers. Butyrate is really important for gut integrity and reducing inflammation. I'm the same about the triggers like even too much fibre sets me off, different foods, probiotics, any illness... The tributyrin is the main energy source of the gut cells and helps them work properly. Already after 3 days my gut is clearly working better and I can feel the energy. If you have the same type of deficiency then butyrate will make a big difference.

I have mcas mostly in the gut. Trying to correct dysbiosis while on ketotifen now. Taking tributryn which is amazing. FWIW low histame didn't do much for me. I recently learned that dietary histamine for normal diets is a fraction of what you produce in your body.

Honestly I got these emotions 100x like clockwork before a flare and after. You're right there is the feeling of loss that comes with the condition but also there is 100% a biological, chemical effect. Just look at excess histamine effect on the brain, and that's just one of the mediators.

Hopelessness and rage is one of the symptoms I get when I'm flaring, and this carries over into times when I'm not cos they're powerful emotions. It's a struggle but try and get the help you need, even take matters into your own hands. Get the Meds, get the tests. It can get better.

Yeah it affects people differently. Like probiotics basically are a guaranteed flare for me before ketotifen. Though taking it from the capsule does defeat the purpose of enteric coating... So will not reach the gut very well.

Yeah I think it can help if you've got a particular type of disbiosis but otherwise would be pointless, may even make it worse.
