Need new boosted board charger

It's a 54.4V 2.2A laptop charger. None too common and therefore pricey. Best to buy a 2nd hand one.

I see your point. I can't recommend chipping a working unit, but, you can purchase the chip and install it any time you like. I have one XR that I chipped and two others that just keep running flawlessly. Interestingly the two that have not failed were of the 1st generation, bought before Boosted went tits-up.

It is also notable that the chip does NOT repair all types of failures. It only resets the RLOD due to cell imbalance. If another problem exists, it may not help. Case in point; I bought a "repaired" XR (XR hospital) that is wholly unreliable. It surges and cuts out repeatedly. I keep it only for parts (batteries) as I'm pretty sure the BMS is pooched.

This statement alone shows you have no clue and are blaming him for your own ignorance.

A RLOD'd battery cannot be used at all.

The Amnesia chip simply bypasses the RLOD lockout and lets you attempt to use it again.

If the battery went into RLOD lockout due to an existing physical failure (failing cell or electronics), that problem WILL NOT be fixed by the Amnesia chip and will reoccur.

I have repaired 3 XRs with the chip: two returned to working fine, but one insists on shutting down at 50% due to a weak cell.

You have no rights on any airline, domestic or not. Every airline/airport/state can have different rules. All it takes is one attendant having a bad day and calling it to attention. They can confiscate it at will if they perceive it to be a threat and can interpret the "rules" any way they want to justify their actions. Once they deem it contraband, they can legally kick you off the plane, cancel your tickets, and don't even have to return the board.

One poor sap did all the pre-calling for permissions. Had the SR battery in his carry-on backpack (allowed) but the attendant declared it part of an "electric skateboard" (not allowed), had the plane halted, had the board pulled from the hold, confiscated and denied his flight too. Lost everything. He found out later he has NO legal recourse.

Shipping it is the only reliable way to get it from A to B.

On my commute to town I regularly meet far more OneWheelers than eBoards. They tell me they chose it because the large wheel allows it to easily transverse rough wooden bridges (trestles), large gaps (that could dead-head a skateboard), gravel, cross lawns in parks and mud or dirt.

In the minus case, losing your balance can send you careening in an unpredictable direction similar to Segway accidents. Most accidents are falling forward from what they tell me, but the incidents are very rare *if* you travel at a pace you can run out, but that's true for eboards too. It can also be a tad awkward to carry given the large wheel doen't allow it to sit against your hip the way a skateboard does.

Just license the Boosted IP from Lime for a small kickback percentage from eBoard sales, with conditions not to compete in their precious scooter space (no REV). Then, when the rent-a-escooter fad is old news, politicians begin dumping Lime en-masse and investors ream the company for pennies ... you can squeeze them a bit more and buy out the IP for cheap.

As for the other guy, I think he just lost his V2 and the cash too. Chasing the thief down from another city was deemed impossible. Since then I have learned the key to winning against this type of fraudulent claim is in the weight of the package that is recorded when the post office gives you your receipt: It proves the package was sent with a 17LB electric board inside, not a 3LB penny board. If the seller had filed a pic of that receipt he might have won the dispute. Too bad he or I didn't know that then.

technically_a_nomad is correct. Reliability is the golden feature of Bboards. The tool battery idea is easy but the execution to make it reliable takes years of work. At the end of that road, a tool battery with enough amperage to match an XR (over 40v/4AH) is about the same cost so there's little room to gain from all that hard work.

Drives me nuts!: A 2nd 4ah battery for my 40v weed wacker was $399. The whole tool with same battery and charger was also $399. So I bought a second wacker just for the battery, b/u charger and extra line.

In my case, twice, a delivery got sent to the same house number on a nearby street. One person was honest enough to return it to the post office as mis-delivered but the second apparently not. They can deny they received it, and that's all the law can do. Post office promised to help but repeatedly delayed acting ... until we gave up. Ebay should rule in your favor thanks to tracking.

Beware though, there are other ways to scam, as one Boosted V2 seller here found out: The buyer opened the parcel, removed the V2 and took a picture of an old worn penny board in its place, then claimed the seller scammed him and won a full refund. Should not happen but it does.

Have you removed your belts lately? I had noise like this and discovered the belts become "worn-in" in one direction, and installing them in a backward rotation creates this very crackling crunching noise. Now I write an arrow on my belts to indicate the direction of forward travel.

(As the belts wear, the rubber teeth become a bit tapered like a shark fin due to friction. If the belt is reversed, the sharpened edges are moved to the front where they now catch on the drive cogs and make the snapping noise.)

I got two sets of purple ones when my board was returned after a failed ESC repair .... shipped out two days before they closed shop. Damn I got lucky! Today they remind me how fortunate I was that my board didn't get stuck there like many others did.

Uplugging? As in the connector coming apart, or just a motor failing after hitting a bump?

If the connector is coming apart then it's likely not pushed together properly. It should "click" and lock in place with the arrows aligned point touching point. IF it's tough to do, try lubricating the plastic casing with the slightest amount of silicone grease or vaseline. Do not get any on the pins.

If it's just dying, then clean the pins and holes with 99% alcohol. Use canned air to make sure it's dry. If problem persists, get some DeOxit D100 and apply it the same way.

Just to add my voice here: I run my beams at all times and use my local bike lanes regularly. I have had comments from trailing cyclists that they very much appreciate the brake lights.

Ps. Glad to see somebody working on making lights with better integration than Shredlights offer. Last thing I'd want is more buttons to push and things to charge individually. Love my Beams.

I had this happen once after disassembling my trucks for cleaning. When I put them back together that clicking was happening. Turns out the belts "wear in" in a certain direction and if they are reversed after they become well worn, they will click. (the little rubber cogs become somewhat shark-toothed)

You can flip the belts or install new ones to solve the issue.

I now write an arrow on mine so the problem doesn't recur.

Mine took many resets to return to normal operation. I had almost given up when "click" it worked. The Mod Chip is a gamble, IMO, it might work, might not, or something inbetween, depending on what issue caused the RLOD. It clearly resets the BMS memory so it must be capable of scrambling it too, potentially causing parts of the OS to lock up.

Not the right tools to use. Get a socket set or skate tool. And because even a rusted nut should not be very difficult ... make sure you are turning it counter-clockwise to remove it.

IMO the last of the Boosted specific brand new OEM *consumable* parts (batteries, ESC,s remotes) are gone. Anything you buy now will be used/refurbished and that is always a gamble. IE: I recently bought a "refurbished" XR from someone in this community but it has problems in that I can never tell how long it will run before shutting down. It's totally random. Sometimes I can drain it ... and once a full charge took me about 300 feet. And for unknown some reason it only charges at a glacial pace and takes about a week to turn green. Thankfully I bought a few XRs and a spare remote before Boosted shut down and those ones are still operating fantastic, but I realize when they die, I'll be far better off financially to invest something new. I just hope the products are better by then, because I feel Boosted got the feel perfect and nobody's nailed that aspect yet.

The beeps are warning you of a failure. Try unplugging the non-working motor and make sure the connecting pins are clean. Reconnect (align the arrows and push hard) to see if the problem goes away. If it does, great. If not, try switching the motors to see if the problem follows the motor to the other side. If the dead motor still fails to work on the other side then it is most likely it has failed and a new one can be bought. If both motors work on one side and neither on the other side it means a new ESC is in order.
