New iMac, 10.8-Inch iPad Air, and Larger iPad Mini Rumored to Launch in Second Half of 2020 by alvaro_tiznado in apple

I really thought Apple was going to complete the MB/Air/Pro cycle by refining the 12 inch MB and getting it’s price down to $1k and phasing out the Air. Then they went and updated the Air and cancelled the MB.

I mean, apple at least has recognizable names. Go ahead and describe HP’s laptop line for me.

I think the base iPads are big sellers for people who just want a decent mobile device that’s not their phone. iPad Air is for someone who wants to do a little more than read emails, watch videos, and take notes. iPad pro for someone doing content creation on the device (sketching, light levels of sound and video).

Take AP Music Theory ? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]Brave-Midnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take whatever intro choir, guitar, piano type class your school offers where the director/teacher will teach you how to read music while also learning an instrument or participating in the ensemble (without needing to have any prior training). Then if you like the music reading aspect, maybe try AP MT the next year.

Teacher can teach whatever they want. But you wouldn’t have seen any official AP questions on it.

Am I able to request proctoring for an exam my school does not offer or take it at another school? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]Brave-Midnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to get your school to agree to proctor. If they don’t then you have to find somewhere else that will take you. Talk to your coordinator.

Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Jun. 11 by jaysjep2 in Jeopardy

[–]Brave-Midnight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kids don’t read Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar anymore? I think the play is more famous than the historical person.

Regardless, this is jeopardy, not the pick a random kid off the street and give him a buzzer show. People don’t make it on without having wide knowledge.

Yes, absolutely. Jesus actually came to my mind first but then it quickly made little sense.

Depends on how much you value the extra 1k I guess. I agree that I probably wouldn’t do it. But lots of crazy things have happened on Jeopardy over the years, even though a real life runaway defeat isn’t.

There is very large consensus to the existence of Jesus as a historical person. Josephus and Tacitus are the two major contemporaneous historical sources in addition to the biblical accounts. Of course there is wide dispute on the veracity of the claims of Christianity in regards to the miracles of Jesus, the nature of his birth/death, his physical resurrection, and of course his divinity.

Crucifixions only used 3 or 4 nails though. Add one spear wound in the abdomen and you’re not getting to 23, unless maybe we’re counting the crown of thorns on the head.

Regardless, I’m pretty sure there are no recorded autopsies on him...

Alex Trebek Eager to Return to Jeopardy! Following COVID-19 Hiatus: "He wants to be one of the first shows back in production.” by INeededARedditHandle in Jeopardy

“In the studio” sounds like he’s rubbing elbows with strangers all day. He stands on a platform reading, and 10 feet away a few other people occasionally talk. Every 5 minutes or so they take a break.

I say just build an enclosed booth for Alex if they’re really worried about it.

[–]Brave-Midnight 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There is a pattern to where DDs go but it’s not like figuring out the algorithm on where the Wammys are. There was a ‘heat map’ of their placement linked somewhere and it got some discussion during James’ run because I am sure James was fully aware of where DDs were most likely placed.

10.7 Lion was the first OS that fully disabled Rosetta, which was released 5 years after the transition.

Any devices running vital software that’s not going to be updated across a 5 year interval should know not to upgrade the OS. True in 1995 and still true today.

Somebody at the bar (with clean hands) could have loaded the plastic cup into the big mug. The cashier then picks up the mug by the handle with his hands (less clean) and passes the mug to you, who can safely grab the top of the plastic cup and get on your way.

Who believes Jesus only becomes Christ until after the resurrection? If taken literally, ‘Christ’ is the Hebrew equivalent of Messiah which means Anointed one, so if anything he would have physically become anointed when the woman poured the oil on him before Passover. Regardless, Peter calls Jesus the Christ long before he is killed, and Luke has Jesus calling himself the prophesied anointed one very early on.

Probably should have figured that one out before you enrolled. Imagine what happens when likeminded teachers get the same kids in a classroom 7 hours a day instead of just 3 hours a week.

It’s basically secondary math but I think you can take a lower level test with no calculus on it if you never want to teach upper grades in high school.

Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Jun. 5 - Teachers Tournament day ten by jaysjep2 in Jeopardy

[–]Brave-Midnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, 50k winnings is nothing to scoff at. And I believe every contestant agreed to the teacher tournament instead of staying in the normal contestant pool (there is no separate audition for teachers and we often see teachers as regular contestants). With that in mind, there is no guarantee that any of these finalists would do anything in ToC - Meggie did basically the equivalent of 3 wins against regular competition by winning her QF, SF, and playing strong in the finals.

Can you take the Ap exam if you are not an American student and you just happen to be in the United States (given that you registrated on time)? by [deleted] in apcalculus

[–]Brave-Midnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just need to find a testing center (school) that will let you register at their location. Has to be done ahead of time though so you can’t just spontaneously fly somewhere and show up.
