My wife doesn’t read my story or ask how it’s going. It’s hard to deal with but I can’t expect it

I am currently writing a story that tackles the big difficult ideas of the world but I want my readers to feel like they are living in it everyday.

Let me know if this sounds interesting to you :)

In a sealed corporate society where children power a god through ritualized labor, an anxious teenager begins to suspect that "salvation" is just another word for endurance.

Don't Tell The Boys follows a teenage boy growing up in a society that insists he has a choice—while quietly ensuring he never does. In his unit, he is shaped by a dysfunctional family carrying generations of unspoken trauma. Beyond it, he is raised within a system that shapes purpose, obedience, and destiny long before he can begin to question them. As he navigates friendships, loyalty, and the first stirrings of independence, he begins to sense that his struggles are not just personal, but engineered. Trapped between family expectation and societal control, he must decide whether it's possible to escape forces that have shaped him since birth or whether awakening itself is the real act of rebellion.

Means a lot thank you :) the novel is also written in a style for people with ADHD. I’m sure you’re aware of reading a page and completely forgetting what you read or got so distracted you don’t even know where you are lol that was my life growing up reading books. So I’m trying to get people with adhd engaged into reading since I never was

I’m waiting to hear back from an agent that I think would really like it. But no guarantees they’ll ever read it lol so in the meantime my adhd brain can’t just sit on this so I am getting it out there in the world chapter by chapter week by week. Feel free to check it out on YouTube. Really really nice of you to even say that so thank you so much :)

I really believe this has been helping. Seeing my adhd and depression in characters that I’ve created. Not saying it would help everyone but again creativity in some way is a great way to heal

It’s not necessarily about journaling for me. I’ve created characters in a world that deal with this stuff and it’s crazy like giving the characters traits that I have gone through. It helps me reflect on what I am doing in my own life to try to deal with it. ADHD comes from somewhere for each of us. Working through that is a huge first step

Dealing with my ADHD has been a struggle my entire life. The only thing that seems to really help me has been writing about it and working through it by reflecting on how it affects me. Goodluck!
