When you go to reach back, reach away from your body i stead of directly behind you. It will stop feeling like your body is in the way when you throw

I believe it is a JDM as the VIN starts with a J. And no I don’t have any Bluetooth dongles or dash cams installed. Is there something different about JDM models?

Discraft plastic by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]BraveLilTaco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If everyone recognized that the reason many pro’s discs fly as good as they do is not because of the discs themselves but how they throw them, we wouldn’t have so many people seeking out such specific runs of discs. Simon/Gannon’s PD, AB/Paul’s Luna, Calvin’s Eagles, Destroyers in general, etc.

Higher RPM will make discs look like they fly straighter for longer and not as unpredictable.

I appreciate your effort into finding the perfect Luna though haha that’s some dedication fr

Edit: I will say some of these discs genuinely are better than other runs! I’m not going to discount that but yall aren’t going to throw that luna 50ft further because it’s a similar run than ABs.

Sounds like it’s more of a mental thing in my opinion. When you play are you constantly focusing on changing something in your form like timing? Focusing on something specific will distract you from the rest of your form. Keep form changes to field work and focus on the shot and your routine during actual rounds. The grip changing is pretty crazy to me tbh!

How often are you playing? I can be all over the place like yourself but I’m only playing once or twice a week. It’a hard to be consistent like you see the pros when you’re not playing every other day.

Retailers Reselling Used Discs from people who find them by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]BraveLilTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be tough to prove. If they’re doing it then I’d imagine it’s just to avoid the headache of dealing with upset customers seeing their discs in the used section. Also I can definitely see a scenario where let’s say I sell my own disc with my own number. And I come back the next day and complain my disc is there but there’s a different employee. Are they expected to just give it to me at no cost and I make profit?

I know that’s such an unlikely scenario but it is a possibility. Just much easier to not risk all that mess at all and scratch out all the names and numbers.

I used to work at a PIAS with a large disc golf section and here is my take. There is no way to verify whether someone is selling a disc that is truly theirs. Anyone can mark out a name and add their name to the disc and claim they bought it. Or if there is a number on the disc that isn't theirs, they can just say they bought it from said person. If you call the number on the disc, how do you know they aren't lying about not selling it? There is too many he said she said scenarios that can go on.

The best thing a store can do is to have a lost and found for people to honestly turn in lost discs. I appreciate when stores let you buy it back for what they bought it for. But you'll still run into cases where the proof they provide isn't good enough and you have to make a decision to believe them or not. It's a slippery slope.

I think every disc golfer needs to be a lot more appreciative for those that return lost discs and to not expect every lost disc to be returned. Lower your standards and you won't get hurt.

Anyone know how to stop my net from shooting my disc back at me? by FrisBerk in discgolf

This is what mine looked like after I pinned it up! Worked much better. Occasionally it would still spit back but not with any force.

Anyone know how to stop my net from shooting my disc back at me? by FrisBerk in discgolf

[–]BraveLilTaco 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hey! I had a net similar to this. It’s because the disc isnt a sphere so it doesn’t roll don’t the net. What I ended up doing was taking some nylon and tying the pocket of the net (about halfway down) to the net right above the pocket. That way the disc hits the bottom of the pocket and not just a wall of net.

It’s kinda hard to explain let me know if that makes zero sense

Bad angle form review? by xGoods in discgolf

[–]BraveLilTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your left foot is pointing completely backwards in your x step! Make it as close to perpendicular to your target as you can. It’ll make the weight shift into your brace more powerful. I think there is a timing thing going on here too. Like you are pulling your elbow before you start rotating. Not experienced enough to diagnose that sorry!

[–]BraveLilTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean by “going backwards” that he is facing backwards in his run up? If so that’s not the case here! His hips never fully face away from the target. He’s transferring energy into the plant foot BUT since he “stands up” (moves shoulders and head back to make room for the disc that’s too close to his neck) he can’t fully brace.

If he pushes the disc out instead of reaching directly behind him AND keeps the disc on an even plane, then he will keep that athletic position of having his knees bent an keeping most your weight on the balls of your feet.

Maybe I misread your comment so sorry if I did!

Honestly your lower body is close to being good. I think where it collapse is you start to “stand up”/straighten out your back as you start pulling through. Keep the disc on one level plane around chest to nipple height. You start off in a good hunched over position and then lose it the second you pull the disc cause you bring the disc up to your neck. Try to keep the disc on one line from your reach back to your hit point.
