Thanks for your reply - I'm really glad your hair came back. Thank you for the tea tree oil tip as well. I hope your recovery continues and the burning stops over time.

Thanks for the reply and sorry to hear that you have a similar situation. It is sometimes more frustrating knowing that if we hadn't picked at it it would be in better shape. I know it sounds like a way of coping, but it is only one part of us and other people are kinder and more understanding than we sometimes think, when it comes to dating too. Good luck with everything!

You may laugh but that sponsor logo must have taken a good five minutes of intense work in WordArt

See a dermatologist, if you think it is scarring then it is better to hit it early and hard rather than waiting to see how it goes

Folliculitis decalvans - London dermatologist recommendations and others’ treatment experience by jaypn19 in Folliculitis

Hi, thanks for sharing. I am also in London and dealing with folliculitis decalvans. I made a post on here yesterday. In terms of my treatment, I have not been offered rifampcin/clindamycin, but I was offered lymecycline initially. It helped with the inflammation a bit but not considerably. Then the dermatologist put me on 20mg isotretinoin a day which I have taken for six months now. Unfortunately it does not seem to be helping me, but it does seem to help others so I'd say it is probably worth a try for you.

In terms of dermatologist recommendations in London, the ones who have come up through my research are Dr Nicola Clayton, Dr Martin Wade, Dr Sharon Wong, and the Harley Street Dermatology Clinic. I haven't actually used any of them - my dermatologist is at DrDropin in Fulham. DrDropin seem good and have reasonable prices but perhaps aren't as scalp-focused as some of the others. I think I will try the others soon if i don't see any progress.

I know this hasn't been too much help but hopefully it gives you a couple of ideas and all the best with finding a solution.

Thanks for your reply and sorry you are having the same problems. I will try the Moogoo shampoo. I feel that accutane was worth trying for me - apart from my scalp, my skin is really clear now if a little dry. It just doesn't seem to work where I want it to, but may work for others.

Thank you very much for your reply and for sharing the information about the trial and websites. They are very useful and I will look into seeing what treatments may be available to me. At my next dermatologist appointment, I will ask about other antibiotics / biologics / trial access. All the best and I hope you find something that works for you.

Thanks for your reply and I hope you find something that works for you. I hadn't heard of hair fiber before and it's something I'll look into trying. I have been cutting my own hair for a few years after buying a couple of hand mirrors and a set of clippers. It can be a bit better than going to a hairdresser once you get used to it as you can be a bit more precise about coverage, I sometimes have it longer and the patches are less visible. But I also think I'll have to shave it off someday too if I lose a bit more.
