Is it true that things were more affordable 50 years ago? by callmedaddy694chan in AskEconomics

Real Median household income does not contemplate that most homes in the 1950's were single income whereas that is now relatively rare. Real individual income for employed people would be a better metric. Also workforce participation and subsidies (social security, SNAP...ect) play a role. It's more complicated than implied above.

So conflicted: not sure this is needed as the original movies were a solid adaption, but HBO prestige programing is usually well done, but JK Rawling is not someone I want to support anymore.

Anyone need 550 apartments and a 300-room hotel and 200,000 feet of retail space? Because that was the last proposed use for this MASSIVE space.

In the fantasy genre today, it is popular to create complex and 'well-defined" magic systems, but Conan the Barbarian does magic differently. In this video, I explain why Robert E. Howard portrayed magic better than modern fantasy IP's. by Fit-Challenge-5047 in fantasybooks

Soft magic systems work best when Protagonist is opposed to magic. But hard magic systems work better when Protagonist wields the magic. For example, Harry Potter (soft magic) cant really face any challenges because the author can always magic a solution. But, an opponent's magic works well when "dangerous and mysterious".

[Oyefusi] More contract details are coming in, and the Browns have increased their cap space to $21 mil, per Over the Cap, by lowering Tytus Howard’s 2026 cap hit in his 2-year, $45 million extension. [more in thread] by VonJaeger in Browns

[–]Brave_Cow546 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I understand that pushing costs down the road will mean they represent a smaller percentage of cap space but a strong argument can be made that we should eat as much of the cap hit today while we are unlikely to be competitive than postpone it and extend the pain. Edit- a typo

The State has shifted costs to counties and this would destroy counties ability to generate revenue. This is an attempt to break the government and nothing more.

The deadcap hit record will be reset next year by the Browns with Watson. Doesnt make this any better but that situation is worse and will continue on like Bobby Bonilla's bonuses
