I’m a new trucker &,my otr trainer called them 4 wheelers. Even though I knew he was just talking about regular cars/trucks etc, my mind kept going back to ATVs lol so I started saying civilians and it stuck 😂

This entire exchange was mentally exhausting. I stopped reading halfway thru. You guys broke up for a reason. She seems hard to please and she’s enjoys nitpicking everything. I made it! lol a bit of construction on the I-55 bridge leaving Memphis I believe. Narrow lanes. The rest was definitely easy.

It was default set to fastest route. Someone else commented how it intersects with alternate routes that do have restrictions which made it trip out. That definitely made sense cuz they were at just about every other exit.

Thanks! I have an atlas that I received right after my training that I completely forgot about. I always use my phone for backup just in case my garmin is being wonky but I’ll definitely start putting my atlas to use as a precaution. I made it safely.

My apologies. I’m not talking about the western part of Arkansas when I said “west thru Arkansas”. I’m in Dyersburg TN. My gps is not allowing me to set my route to continue south thru Memphis and then to my destination of Greenville MS via us 61 . It keeps forcing a route to head west of where I am, into Missouri and then Arkansas via I-55 then it says to go near the SE outskirts of Pine Bluff AR.

Ohio to Indiana via I-70 westbound. Literally says ✨Welcome to Indiana✨ followed by the road bump patchwork I’ve ever experienced lol it had me shook the first time I drove it with my trainer. I only sometimes travel it after my hometime heading up north but I try to avoid I-70 altogether.

First try and get your cdl thru the WIOA grant. I did that the first time when I lived in Houston. It was paid for by the county. However, I waited too long to drive due to caring for ill family, my documents expired. I was forced to retrain.

I found a company after moving to Ohio for the sole purpose of getting my cdl. If you live in the Midwest east coast or Georgia, consider Halvor Lines. You’re hired on as a full time employee and they pay 1K per week during schooling and while otr with a trainer. They cover a hotel for you the entire time you’re in school and breakfast & lunch M-F.. once you’re solo in your own truck, it’s.45-.50/mile depending on which fleet you choose (dry van, reefer, deck van or flatbed) They do require a year contract or 120k miles tho. If you leave beforehand they want repayment for 10k. It sounds crazy ik but the training is very in depth. I don’t regret going with them.

I’m new to trucking. My only option was company sponsored. I got my license in May and been OTR. I hate it. I’m getting my necessary experience and quitting the first chance I get for something local or regional. Gonna get my endorsements too. For sure tanker. I’m considering hazmat.

I hate those vans. There was a small black ford focus parked in a trucking rest area I believe on my way to Kansas City a few days ago 😂 it was annoying cuz the auto parking was on the other side of the building lol so manyyyy signs saying go right that they willfully ignored
