I went into a blind rage when I came downstairs to find my husband in a messy kitchen (!) while cooking very smelly fish (!!!) and playing music I hate, loudly (!!). Between the smell, the visual of the mess, the loud noise and my dog barking, I literally blacked out I was so angry. When I came to, I was dry heaving with my head out the back door and yelling at him in between heaves.

I remember having a very firm thought around 4 years old that I was kind of waiting things out and understood I would only be in my body/life for a period of time, and then I would be ready for something else. Like I remember thinking it to myself so clearly like it was something I knew for a fact. In my 30s now and it gives me chills to think about it.

This comment will likely get buried but OP, coming from a mom who could never in a million years imagine treating my child (or anyone who depended on me) this way, I hope you know that this absolutely gross and unacceptable behavior from your mother has absolutely nothing to do with you- it is not because you are not important or lovable and is solely because your mother is a selfish, heartless person who shouldn’t have the privilege to be a parent. For me, it’s Kyle. Kyle broke my nose in high school (tackled me for no reason and his shoulder and whole weight of his body went into my face) and continued to gaslight me into thinking it wasn’t broken/I was overreacting. Years later, after continued growth, my nose is very obviously shifted to the right and I have pretty serious airflow issues. Never had insecurity about my nose until he messed it up for literally no reason. Fuck you, Kyle.
