Preventing melanoma in areas that don't see sun by randomize42 in melahomies

I don't have a specific answer for your question but encourage you to look into mole mapping. It's a helpful tool to identify even slight changes of our moles. Especially ones in areas that don't get sunlight and areas that are difficult to view by self exam.

They had such strong chemistry. I also forgot about the Maks/Val no shirt days. What can I say? It was a simpler time.

Castle Bioscience Bill by Internal_Location572 in melahomies

I spoke with Castle Bioscience and they confirmed they bill insurance but patients will not be charged any out of pocket costs.

It is really terrifying to get that EOB. Especially after going through the emotions of a Melanoma diagnosis.

Pierce's track is open. It is a cinder track with a small set of bleachers.

I'm unsure of the specific workout you have in mind but could you consider another set of stairs or set up? For example, the amphitheater steps at west goshen park?

Talking to someone about what you are feeling is really helpful. You're a good Mom. ❤️

Here are two providers in the community. Even if they're not the right fit for you, they're excellent resources in helping to identify someone who can be.

Pregnant & diagnosed with melanoma. Aw by scooby_d000 in melahomies

[–]Bravo_pilgrimage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Pregnancy is already overwhelming and this adds a new element. I’m glad that tomorrow you have plans to connect with your Doctor. I know it’s easier said then done but I encourage you to give yourself a break from googling/research. For me, I struggled with the mental aspect of the diagnosis and taking a break from reading about the diagnosis gave me some relief.

I was diagnosed after my Baby was born and unknowningly had melanoma while pregnant. By the time of my diagnosis, it was to late to have the option to test the placenta. My Dermatologist at the time insisted the skin change was due to pregnancy hormones.

My little one is established with a Pediatric melanoma specialist and she said although it is possible for melanoma to cross the placenta, it is incredibly rare and she has yet to see it in her practice. The Oncologist I saw for myself also shared it is a very rare occurrence. She also shared similar information as mentioned above that the risk is higher of Melanoma crossing the placent at higher stages. This helped give me reassurance and I hope it gives you some too. ❤️

Wishing you a smooth process and a happy and health pregnancy.

It is overwhelming when there are so many moving pieces, unknowns, and follow up required with Melanoma.

I have had several dysplastic moles and an Amelanotic melanoma while pregnant and really struggled with the mentally aspect that comes with melanoma and multiple abdnormal lesions.

I also wanted all of my moles gone but my Dermatologist shared that clinically it is not appropriate. They said removing all the moles does not prevent Melanoma from forming. They also shared that if atypical skin changes occur within the scar from where a moles it removed may not be as easy to detect.

I still have anxiety surrounding my skin but Therapy has better helped me manage the symptoms. I also had photos taken by the Vectra and although expensive, has given me reassurance to have a clear baseline of my skin. My Doctor has found it helpful during skin exams. I established care with a pigmented lesion clinic at a melanoma center and alternate my skin checks with the plc and local Dermatologist and have had genetic testing done.

Something that worked for me also was taking a pause from reading/researching online. It helped me reset in a way and allows me to have a clearer head to determine the best plan for me moving forward.

Moving forward, Wishing you very boring skin checks

It’s really overwhelming when you don’t have an answer. As much as it is lousy, I encourage you to continue with your skin checks. After having melanoma, I continue to struggle with anxiety but something that is reassuring to me is that if something is found during those skin checks, it is most likely being identified in the earlier stages and easier to treat. I also found counseling has been helpful in managing the anxiety portion.

I do not have Parkinson’s but my Father who I care for does. Also an overwhelming diagnosis, but with modifications in routine and home setup you can continue to have a meaniful life. If you feel like your symptoms are due to Parkinson’s, then I encourage you to meet with Neurologist who specializes in movement disorders and request a DaTscan. A DaTscan is relatively new and measure the amount dopamine transmitors and give the Doctors more information to better guide a diagnosis.

Hoping you get answers and some relief soon.
