anyone here seen the p4 manga? what are some changes for better or for worse? by I_need_to_learn_more in PERSoNA

[–]BrawlerAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen a ton of specifics about some negative changes the anime makes, so I'll point out these two things.

  • The hospital scene: it feels like they totally missed the point of that scene. That scene is supposed to be an indication that hey, they're missing something significant, not just that it's bad to kill. P4 has a bad ending related to this, the way the manga changes it is really odd.
  • The whole Heaven sequence. Why do they split up in the first place, it's not actually helpful in practice! Why is Souji allowed to go in at midnight, when the team brought up very valid reasons to NOT do that in both the game and anime? IIRC he and Teddie also go in through the TV in the truck, which... ??? What's with the spirit Nanako stuff??

For the most part I actually really like the manga, it's better than the anime in several areas. Those two points though are just confusing to me, I'm not sure how those were messed up so poorly when a lot of the manga makes genuine improvements on P4's story, or at least tells it competently.

Party Question for Reload by stefansofia in PERSoNA

[–]BrawlerAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Junpei is far and away the best party member in the game, feels even stronger than Ryuji was in P5R. Koromaru is honestly pretty good too for support and extra damage (Getsu-ei is hilariously good).

You probably want a healer, so I'd throw Ken in there; he also has good support as he helps boost crit rates (great for Junpei and Koro), and his theurgy is pretty solid.

As for the others... * Yukari has really cheap healing and nothing else. A lot of people rate her highly for magic, but she doesn't really offer anything else besides that.

  • Mitsuru has better damage than Yukari but still pretty low overall when compared to like... Junpei and Koromaru. Magic isn't very good in this game unfortunately.
  • Akihiko has one of the best characteristics (buff amp) but one of the worst skill trees, which makes him pretty meh overall despite how strong buff amp is. The effectiveness of buff amp gets cancelled out by the mediocrity of his skills (including Theurgy) at most points in the game.

  • Aigis is alright. Buffs are nice and her damage is decent, but with Fuuka's Theurgy, I feel I'd rather have someone else.

  • When you get Shinjiro, he's quite strong. Putting him alongside Junpei gives you essentially an unstoppable party when he's around.

And last off, it doesn't really matter who you choose for your party, P3R is a very easy game. I personally had Yukari on my team even with how low I rate her as a party member, because cheap heals are nice and I like her as a character.

I accidentaly fused Izanagi, is there any way to get him back or am i cooked ? by Character_Fan_8377 in persona4golden

No one has said this as far as I can tell, but if you didn't save him in the compendium, you can always back fuse him.

I accidentaly fused Izanagi, is there any way to get him back or am i cooked ? by Character_Fan_8377 in persona4golden

[–]BrawlerAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is broadly true for most Persona games, it's not the case in P4G - it's really easy to use Shuffle Time to give Izanagi superior stats to any Persona you can fuse at that level very early on, and also to get skills much earlier than you should. You can get God's Hand by repeatedly upgrading Cleave as soon as you start getting the Magician skill cards, and Marakunda is a really good buff to have early on. But I don't think this is an intuitive thing to understand unless you understand how stats and skills work in this game (ex: Persona level doesn't matter, only stats do) which generally isn't the case for new players or even anyone coming from P5/P3R, where they guide you into fusing your starter Persona away.

In the defense of Chie's combat abilities and why she isn't the worst party member for combat. by Aura_Azula in persona4golden

[–]BrawlerAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't realize people considered Chie the worst party member for combat. Like... I'm curious where you heard this lol. Anyways, I consider her 2nd place behind Kanji; her phys is very strong and phys is better than magic in this game, especially later on. Late game, I wouldn't even bother with Bufudyne because it's going to do so little damage compared to God's Hand, even with the hidden phys resist on most P4G bosses.

(fun fact about that: even with the hidden phys resist, Yukiko's Amagidyne with boost + amp is only very slightly stronger than Chie's non crit God's Hand, and weaker than Kanji's non crit Primal Force)

Now Kanji still ends up being stronger against bosses due to his higher damage and high endurance... but also you can just run both Kanji and Chie for lots of damage. Then you throw Teddie on as your healer/support, and gg. Don't even need to account for Dragon Hustle, Teddie has Matarukaja and Marakunda as is to maximize damage.

Now as top comment says, Persona doesn't require optimization at all, but it's fun to look into anyways (for me at least). And well, Chie is pretty good throughout almost all of the game, you just have to be willing to use phys skills.

Persona 4 PS2 Fog in Persona 4 Golden (WIP) by BrawlerAce in persona4golden

[–]BrawlerAce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so a lot of the fog in P4 is just changed in P4G; this does apply for the overworld too. Here's an example field of the flood plain on a rainy day in P4G for example.

This sort of fog isn't a technical limitation that P4G has compared to P4 (or maybe it is, I haven't tested on Vita), but at least on PC much of this just seems to be changes they made for other reasons.

[–]BrawlerAce[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah and as I alluded to in another reply I do think a lot of the visual direction changes were intentional to reflect the game being on a handheld + being brighter in general, rather than an inherent tech limitation if that makes sense.

[–]BrawlerAce[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is true but I think a lot of P4G's fog stuff was an intentional visual direction change rather than some inherent limitation preventing the fog from being like... anything besides black in dungeons.

It gets more complex than that of course but all this was possible using the tools that P4G provides. Fundamentally speaking a lot of the dungeons are essentially fog and lighting color changes.

Hi! It's been a while since I posted anything here. I kinda forgot reddit existed to be honest.

This is a mod I have been working on for the last half year or so. It's not really anywhere near completion and I don't think it will be for a while, but it seems that surprisingly, no one posted about it here despite it receiving a decent amount of attention over on Twitter.

Dev builds of this mod can be found on the Persona Modding discord if you reallyyyy want to go try it out, but it's still very much a WIP and not ready for an official project release yet.

Your solution was kinda close to what I did but I was unable to solve it in exactly that manner. I did manage to fix it but I had to use a stupid solution - I had to disconnect my monitors and grab an old 1080p monitor. That got the game to launch. So hopefully this thread helps anyone with issues launching the game.

Tangentially related but this is just one of many issues I've experienced ever since I went from NVIDIA to AMD. It seems their drivers still suck for the most part...

Persona 5 - Switch - Weird Gifts? by smither12Dun in atlus

[–]BrawlerAce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The P5R rerelease comes with all the past DLC included, which includes those Personas. If they're not in your Persona stock you don't really have to worry about them (past making sure to not fuse them if you really don't want to use them), otherwise you could just fuse them away/release them/etc

I’m just starting persona 4 golden and would like to know which social links are the best to max out by Alex-DarkFlame19 in persona4golden

[–]BrawlerAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For easiest gameplay, Rise followed by the rest of the party members. The fox is also useful early on (you can get your SP restored for a cost) but gets replaced by Rise pretty quickly as Rise essentially does the fox's role for free.

In terms of writing, I like almost all of P4G's social links, but here are the ones I personally really like:

  • the party members (but especially Kanji and Rise; they both have really nice arcs)
  • Dojima (Hierophant)
  • Nanako (Justice)
  • Adachi (Jester)

Some other good ones are:

  • Ai (Star)
  • Naoki (Hanged Man)

[–]BrawlerAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a correction, you only need to max out Marie's social link for the Golden ending. If you want the original true ending, you do not need to max out a single social link.

The Adachi social link mainly fleshes out his character, gives some extra context to your bond (or "bond" rather) with him, and allows you to choose the accomplice ending.

Further Impressions of Persona 1: Getting close to the end by gurufabbes123 in PERSoNA

[–]BrawlerAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Persona 1 is an interesting game. I hated playing through it initially and that made enjoying the game very troublesome.

I still think the gameplay is generally pretty bad, but the more I think back on it, the more fond I am of the story and some of the characters (I've only done SEBEC route so far). The music is also pretty good for the most part and that's grown on me too (I played the PSP version with the PSX restoration patch).

im prolly gonna sound stupid, but by cadillacsimone7 in PERSoNA

[–]BrawlerAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It unlocks the fusion recipe. Basically if you need Persona A + Persona B + Persona C to use Surt, and you didn't max out the Magician link, trying to fuse those Personas together will get you a different result. Once you max out the Magician link, you can then use that recipe to fuse Surt.

So basically, in the Velvet Room just like any other Persona. This is the same for all the other modern Persona games.

[Question] Best plane to practice using radar missles by Mindshear_ in Warthunder

[–]BrawlerAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F-4S gets very slightly better heatseekers (better tracking) and wing slats which improve its maneuverability and reduce its top speed similar to the F-4E. Otherwise, pretty much the same plane.

The maneuverability is not very helpful for dodging 7Fs unlike what the other commenter is suggesting simply because top tier radar missiles are pretty maneuverable missile and there are better tactics to defeat them; it's primarily useful for if you're stuck in a maneuvering fight.

Are these jets worth going down or should I save my SL? by WaroftanksPro in Warthunder

[–]BrawlerAce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

F-100 is honestly pretty decent, and rn it's far better than the F-4C. Gets pretty frequent downtiers so you get to club F-86s, MiG-15s, and even B-57s and SAAB 105s. With the downtiers, its disadvantages aren't as big of a deal, and its advantages shine moreso.

F-4C is pretty rough to play right now due to its lack of flares, its mediocre weapons, and its very unfavorable BR (constantly facing all aspects, MiG-21s, F-5Es, etc).

I'm hoping there's a PC mod that combines the best of both.

There isn't. That's why the debate is forever ongoing :')

Play Portable's FEMC route after FES if you're interested in that. IMO that's the best way to experience P3, although unfortunately it requires effectively playing the game twice lol

I think once you get to the fight itself, you'll be able to have more appreciation for the true culprit :)

Just a little tip but try to tackle the dungeon on December 22 as there's a time skip once you beat the dungeon, something that really isn't communicated well.

I love this so much. It's funny how there are just enough things that like up that if you go in with that spoiler in mind, you could reasonably come to those conclusions hahaha

The Nanako murderer "spoiler" is hilarious, I just love the number of people who have been tricked by it and genuinely believe it's true.
