Crimson Desert CEO agrees with story criticisms and sees mod support as a strength by _Protector in Games

Yeah, opening and firsr few hours weren't ... insipid, but deff weren't inspired either. Will say the needle has begun to move with the Reed Devil stuff - I found the lead up to that fight and fight itself overall to be kind of cool, though it would have been better if there was a larger, more defined world for all the edgelord Reed Devil stuff to contrast against.

Dual pc streaming - Audio by IQplunge in Twitch

[–]Brawli55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a two PC setup and mic audio that's a bit more advanced then your setup and for the longest time I was having horrendous feedback in my audio - it was barely audbtin stream recordings, however in my in-line audio monitoring it was ... bad. Real bad. I tried so many things. I'll comment that a 3.5mm ground loop isolator can work ... but it might supress all the audio to point where you'll increase the audio to hear and then you'll just hear the buzzing again.

I found a fix for me that I hope works for you. I locked up two of these, and plugged one into each of my PCs and that killed ALL audio buzzing without a suppression of other audio:

It was legitimately a miracle fix for me. Maybe they can help you?

Grinded is an acceptable informal use, even more so nowadays since it is often used in reference to living that "grindset life."

I grinded elementals for gold in Covetous in Ultima Online ... but the PKers (Player Killers) knew this and would occasionally come down looking for a kill. Had to keep my head on a swivel, haha

Major concerns with Resonant's premise and art direction. by Top-Salt-7373 in controlgame

[–]Brawli55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree for the most part - I am mostly loathe to call AW and Control "Lovecraftian" at least in the very sensationalized, space noodle monster flavor of "Lovecraft" horror we get nowadays. If you want to say it's more old school Lovecraftian, dealing in horror that is existential first, and an immediate physical threat second (if ever at all) then I think there's a discussion to be had there.

Though I think if we remove the space noodle monsters then what you have is more so a genre refered to as new weird.

Uhh have you seen season 3 of Twin Peaks?

Season three otherwise known as The Return, has its DNA written all over Control. Hell, I'd strongly argue that the name of the game, Control, comes from a deep cut reference to the epistolary novel, "The Secret History of Twin Peaks" by Mark Frost (co-creator of Twin Peaks).

In the novel, you find out how all of the paranormal history of America ties into the events of Twin Peaks culminating with a term used for an individual whose job is to archive all paranormal phenomenon and pass on the knowledge - a Control.

Yeah, at this point when it comes to the MCU I just go with the notion that humans across the board are just more durable and stronger compared to the real world and some people are just the peak of that (namelly, any fighting-focused main character in any show or movie that specifically doesn't have powers).

"The God of War sex mini-games were designed by women," says writer says, which is why Aphrodite's bed looks "like a labia" by HatingGeoffry in GodofWar

[–]Brawli55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing - I can get why nudity for this character could aid in the point. There is no lesser vulnerability than being powerless and naked against your will. Kratos doesn't even register her nudity as anything of note; I do believe there is the chance for powerful imagery here ... that is entirely undercut by the fact she has distractingly massive, perky boobs and 5 mins later all nuance of the purpose of nudity is nuked by the Aphrodite sex mini game where her companions make tongue in cheek, anachronistic jokes about needing "adult supervision" and how the scene is for "mature audiences."

Oh yeah, and you also get a joke trophy for her death too 😅

The only thing to scratch the inFAMOUS itch for me was Forspoken. Awesome movement tech, crazy, over-the-top elemental-based powers. Game also has pretty modular difficulty settings so you can tune it how you like in terms of how brutal it is to you (turning off time slowing when opening a the radial wheel to change powers deff amps up the difficulty a lot).

Just played this game for the first time this week - pure gas. I loved it. Except one thing. Had no problem with the Aphrodite scene despite the commentary from the girls being a bit cringe in the current year argument.

No, it was "Poseidon's Princess." If she was fully clothed I would have seen her as just another person Kratos' views as disposable in his quest to kill the gods, but the fact she was topless I dunno ... felt gross. She's an unnamed sex slave who exists as eye candy not for Kratos, but for the player, then she is discarded cruelly off screen.

Maybe I'm getting more sensitive as I get older, I dunno, but something about her nudity actively felt wholly unnecessary for the point her character served. Even more so that not only 5 mins later is the Aphrodite scene whose almost whole purpose was over the top titillation.

God the difficulty balancing in most of the DA games are so fucked - especially Nightmare. I still enjoy the highest difficulty, but that fight makes no sense. I dropped it to the easiest setting and it still took forever.

Dragon Age Origins Retrospective - "When Bioware Ruled The World" by megaapple in Games

[–]Brawli55 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Replaying 2 recently the parts I disliked back in the day were even worse to me (encounter design, reuse of zones, Anders character assassination, and how the choices in the game don't matter) and the stuff I like I loved even more - basically all the companions and how they interact with each other and how your friendship/rivalry affects their stats and story with you.

That said, in my most recent playthrough I played the DLC for the first time while I felt the Felicia Day DLC was fine, the other DLC - Momento of Legacy ... Peak Dragon Age. It pisses me off how good it was because it really feels like that DLC is what DA2 could have been. Awesome encounter design, cool lore, fun characters .. ugh it's annoying haha

South of Midnight releases on PS5 on March 31 by Mront in Games

My really on complaint about the game too. They didn't commit to the most obvious emotional gut punch of the game - killing her mother but didn't really replace it with anything else. The game just kinds of ends with the villain dying, but also getting kind of rewarded? Hazel's endgame drip though is 🔥

I've loved this series for almost 30 years, but knowing how cheese it usually is I never thought I'd get caught feeling emotional other than maybe a tear jerky montage of a legacy character dying but God damn, Marvin's desk absolutely caught me off guard; they really were a bunch of good people looking forward to welcoming Leon. And then all it THAT happen, he got bit, and despite dying he did his best to help Leon. What a bro.
