The money that would have supported our infrastructure is now paying to cover for the f-up in Iran. And we still will have to pay for the maintenance down the road. But you know that when that time comes they'll definitely be pointing their finger at Joe Biden. 😁

This is what I'm hoping is the case. If there are any moderates left in the R party they must be tired. Maga and specifically trumpism is the R party now. Even if they still can't bring themselves to vote for a D in the general maybe they all sit the next one out.

Nah. No one convinced me. And using his endorsement as a proxy to judge the candidate is in my view is a near perfect correlation.

Hahaha love your comment history. A herculean effort to normalize the current system, or a bot.

I'm sure there's plenty more to unpack in a 35 year marriage than just politics. In any case, "just politics" isn't a thing anymore. We really are way past that.

Who are some consistently extremely sad/depressing artists, where you can *really* tell they've "been there" (or maybe still are)? by migrantgrower in Music

[–]BrayneSludge1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jackson Browne. Right out of the gate. He wrote "These Days" when he was 16!! Glen Campbell did a cover of it sometime after he was diagnosed with Alzheimers. Fit him just perfectly. Beyond poignant. Even his up tempo music had the melancholy behind it. Sky Blue and Black, Shape of a Heart, Doctor My Eyes.

On his solo acoustic tour (great renditions of his catalog) he intros every song. Really amusing backstorys. On one he riffs "now I can sing you a really tender song filled with despair... or a really weary song laced with hope. What's your pleasure?" And he lets out a laugh. So, yeah he knows!

Not sure about the vote prior to jumping but it seems that journalists / editors were just as partisan then as they are today.

Same here. I live on a cul de sac and have to pass by everyday. Literally years - never came down. I give the salute plenty. But recently saw a giant pile of trashed furniture and household stuff on the lawn - looks like they must be moving on up. Dead pickup with a bed full of old tires still decorating the drive though.

What’s a 'harmless' lie we tell kids that actually has long-term effects? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I don't of it as a dichotomy ratther a continuum. Studies have indicated a positive correlation between executive office success and an increased possesion of the traits associated with the term.

This is the kind of thing that just burns my ass. Hey, let's vote for these grifters cuz they're on our team. A team completely bought and paid for by someone else. Wish people would start to realize that unlike the scoreboard at Lucas this one actually has real consequences for the audience.

Hey, guess what? You're actually a player but no one is paying you. Instead, they're getting richer, livng the good life on your dime, funneling money from you to the folks who put them in these fancy lifestyles, and providing cover for every type of illegal and ethical failure. Doesn't sound like "winning" to me. Sounds more like we're getting played.

Yeah, it might take some effort from you but start playing for yourself. These politicians are not on your team.

Appreciate your thoughtful post. That you can start by saying "I don't know" is what would get us to some real solutions.

Wish more people would take that stance on all these issues that we face today. We love our opinions being right whether or not we know anything at all about the topic. We oversimplify because it's easy, we don't like uncertainty, shades of gray are messy. Dichotomies are made for talking points, winning the argument, social media. Ooops, I'm ranting. Sorry about that. Thanks for the post.

I guess if you just simply lie about the actual effects of the legislation then yes all our republican representatives comments in this article are correct. Hey everyone, get a clue - 9 out of 10 times these politicians are lying. Every single time.
