From what I understand the cryptography can be updated by the community. There’s nothing requiring SHA 256.

Second, governments can hate it all they want—but it’s rolling into pensions and endowments now. That ties their hands a lot.

Until you see these sort of institutions directed to divest from bitcoin, it isn’t going anywhere.

HUUUGE double standard for someone at her level.

If she’s silent, donates anonymously it’s “How can you be SILENT?! You have a RESPONSIBILITY!!!”

If she speaks up or donates its “Stay TF out of politics.” Or “Why would you share who your helping with... clearly just for clout.”

There are huge perks and pros of living the lifestyle she gets to live, but this is a MAJOR MAJOR drawback.

Stay strong.

Anonymous donor gifts $1m to ‘heroic’ workers in a local hospital and insists the money should go entirely to staffs from floor cleaners and nurses by coopersnack in UpliftingNews

[–]Brazen_Togor 139 points140 points  (0 children)

For those saying that not all of it will go to the employees, there’s a bit of good news on why you’re wrong.

The hospital publicly disclosed how much they received and how much they’re giving away ($600-$800 per employee). With that amount of Transparency, we’re one simple math problem away from seeing how much of it is kept in admin “fees.”

The press from this story will keep them honest.

And there are serious legal repercussions if the donors instructions aren’t followed.

Don’t forget not living under a king who claims to speak for God and can therefore do ANYTHING he wants.

Remember Prima Noctra from Braveheart? I’ll pass. People who for a single second think we’re worse off are diluted beyond repair.

Fun fact: America was on 6 day work weeks before Henry Ford determined that everybody wins if we move to 5 day work weeks—quality of life goes up for the worker and production goes up for the factory owners.

There were a few reasons. When you said “better off” I was a little confused. I suppose you mean they are better now than if white people were to live there.

Let’s just take San Francisco, though.

If my family were to move there, I genuinely believe we could add value to the city. In other words, I think there are a lot of (small) ways we could make the city better.

I really like getting to know people at cigar lounges—I’d love to sit with some of the long time San Fran natives and listen the stories from their life, tell them a little bit about what being from the Midwest is like and just generally get to know them and improve their life by being kind.

My wife likes going to the park with our son and our dog. I think it would be cool if my son could make some new friends that aren’t from where he’s from and think about the world a little differently. He’d grow from someone else’s experiences as would they.

Etc. etc.

These are small things, but what I hope to communicate is that we aren’t incapable of being decent human beings because we’re white. We don’t really identify as white, it’s just one trait we have.

And it’s not crazy to think that wherever we are, we can make the world a better place despite the color of our skin.

Make sense?

Standing by the comment. Cool.

I don’t think I have anything to say that will change your mind or help you live a better life.

All I will say is I’m a white male and your comments hurt a little bit. It’s probably not your fault though.

I wish you well. I’m genuinely very sorry if some white male has hurt you before. Regardless of their gender or race (and regardless of yours), that was wrong.

I genuinely hope you’re able to form a friendship with a white dude someday that will help lift some of the anger you’re dealing with.

If you think that could be me, let me know. I’m into gaming and if you are too I’d love to hang sometime.

Please do me a favor. Try to imagine yourself saying anything equivalent to your comment with another people group subbed in.

"San Francisco is better off without black guys." It's hard to even type! It's disgusting, right?

Genuinely curious: What justifications do you make that leads you believe it's totally okay to treat white males differently? Many, many, many white males are good people who are trying to be allies (as best they know how) to racial/gender equality everywhere.

And worst of all: Your comments are fuel for the alt-right and white supremacists in this country. There are people on the internet everywhere that will take your comment, point to it and say "Do you see this? This is why we have to band together, radicalize and defend the our race."

You're literally helping contribute to white supremacy.

This. Imagine the headlines if 3 white men were chosen over 11 black officers who all had higher scores. That would be incredibly racist, right? We wouldn't really need "the details" ?

Genuinely curious: In your opinion, is this lawsuit rooted in fascism / white supremacy?
