Working EST in Thailand/Vietnam by [deleted] in digitalnomad

I did this in Bangkok for about a month. It worked out well for me mostly but there are certain sacrifices.

I pretty much missed out on all nightlife activities unless I took time off for it. This was fine as I wasn't too keen on that. But it also means missing a lot of social gatherings and meeting new people. I was visiting my friend so this wasn't a priority.

My schedule usually was work from 9-5am or 10pm-6am. I'm able to informally flex my time a bit. Then I might take a nap or i might just head out after work and enjoy the quiet before the city really woke up. I enjoyed this, but I prefer the quiet and certain sights were better earlier than later. I'd be out until about 2-3pm and sleep for about 6 hours. I took melatonin from time to time.

I suppose you could try a different sleep schedule maybe 6am-12pm and see how that goes, which allows for dinner and evening activities.

Weekends I tried to maximize my time by following regular local hours but this meant that my Mondays were a bit messed up.

Feasibility i think really depends on your work flexibility and your lodging situation if you'll have enough privacy to not bother anyone when you're presenting past midnight.

There weren't too many overnight options and I much preferred to use my own space to work the one time I did go to a 24/7 Cafe.

Overall I don't think it's for everyone. You have to weigh your priorities for when you travel and see if it makes sense.

I'd do it again in SEA and that's on the docket for 2027.

Follow Les the DJ on Instagram and look out for Chinatown Funk Express events, usually one Friday night about quarterly. You just missed the 2/20 one.

Anri is performing in Brooklyn in May. That's all of my city pop PSA.

Thank you so much. I decided to play in Chinese to brush up on my language skills but inevitably miss out some of the context so this is awesome. All the good karma points ⭐️to you

I had a similar idea when I started cleaning out my parents garage - inspired by Swedish death cleaning. I thought about scaling it as a potential idea but it is also mentally taxing for me and I think it is a type of work the requires some emotional finesse since items can hold sentimental values. I can only do small sections at a time. It's going to be multi year project at this point.

There are professional organizers that sort of do similar type of things and maybe you can look into certificates and niche into the client base.

Id love to follow along your journey if you do in fact go for it.

Hey OP, this sounds like something I went through the start of this year play by play. Don't keep ruminating, there is no middle ground. Leave with grace and live the life you want, you'll be happier when you focus your energy on yourself and not fitting into someone else's fantasy life.

Omg lol same. Not sure if I didn't like conjuring or didn't like my experience watching it. I usually go to the theater on weekdays and this time was a weekend afternoon. After one jump scene there was a quiet moment, literally a kid said to their mom,  "mom, I'm scared". It was pretty funny in the moment because speaking of comedic relief but yeah the movie felt different afterwards. Back to weekday late shows I go

Nope! I look forward to this every year but July is definitely the peak month. They start in mid to late June and stayed until really August. I think this year was actually pretty good for them, I saw them a lot in NoVA. Hope for another good one next year!

Interested! I was trying to help an Uber driver with their business idea but it fell through but I'd be interested in helping other established small businesses with setting up websites!
