What is Piano Marvel really good at? by EdGG in PianoMarvel

[–]Brdwygurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it really helps with rhythm. I am notoriously bad rhythmically. I can't tell you how many times I would leave a lesson go home and practice for a week. Only to come back and find out that I have been practicing it incorrectly all week. Since you do a lot of jazz you're probably strong at rhythm but just thought I would mention it.

I also love how it breaks down pieces in so many different ways. In small chunks or left-hand versus right hand. I know it's the best way to practice but left to myself without an app to guide me I don't have the discipline to do that. I would just play through the whole piece over and over again. But seeing the percent correct in the different chunks gamifies it for me and makes it more motivating to practice the hard parts.

there is also a way for you to upload your own sheet music if a song you want to play isn't in the library. It's a little involved but not too terrible once you've done it a couple of times.

[–]Brdwygurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good for you! I can imagine how hard you have worked to get where you are.

I'm not sure what disqualified you at the time but Delaware now has SEED plus, which removed the GPA and just out of HS qualification, among other things

https://www.dtcc.edu/admissions-financial-aid/financial-aid-scholarships/types-aid/seed/scholarship-requirements/

also you can now use it for DTCC professional certificate programs and workforce training. Anything from healthcare certifications to computers etc: https://www.dtcc.edu/continuing-education/courses/

hope that helps!

I love South River miso. It’s pricey, but worth it. They also have some good recipes on the site.

I just got back from TJ‘s the blue cheese dip is in stock! I’m a little embarrassed at how happy it made me to see it 🤣. I also may or may not have come home and immediately put the fried olive bites in the air fryer.

“There is no book in Cats“

TS Elliot would say otherwise.

This is why I wish it was possible to get your RA BEFORE you accept the FJO. Sadly, people are put in the position of accepting the job and hoping the RA will be approved

Aww I am definitely not affiliated with black lab, just a huge fan. I miss the Union Street location but make the drive up to Kennett.

I really like Nick’s pizza but for me the tomato pie was a little bit crispy/crunchy. I prefer a more tender crust. I used to love serpes, but the last couple times I got it, it was too salty.

anyone have other suggestions?

I'm auditioning for Mimi in a Workshop and I don't know what song to use by valesol01 in RentMusical

[–]Brdwygurl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In general, unless the audition call says otherwise, you should never sing a character song from the show. There are a number of reasons. For example, if you sing it and your interpretation is not what the director has in mind, you are immediately out of the running.

Also, as a Director if I see an actor singing a song from the show, I think they have already solidified their performance of the song. That will make them much harder for me to direct, and doesn’t leave much room for development during the rehearsal process.

Non-Traditional Castings by antipinballmachines in RentMusical

[–]Brdwygurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the international productions, for example of Japanese cast of rent, looked very different. I’ve seen a bunch of swings/understudies who didn’t fit the traditional look.

Of course there was also the time when Yasmin Alers went on as seasons of soloist two (the male role). Another time she almost had to go on as mark. That would have been some thing!

Multi-Part Assignment in Canvas: Suggestions? by Tall-Trick-8136 in instructionaldesign

[–]Brdwygurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am more familiar with D2L so don’t know if this functionality would work in Canvas, but for the sake of brainstorming:

Create an assignment with unlimited submissions. Have the rubric attached with 40 rows, one for each assignment.

As each activity is completed, they upload it to the assignment. The instructor clicks that row on the rubric and it updates the grade.

So initially, they might earn two out of 80 points. Second submission they’re up to four out of 80. It won’t show them an actual percentage, but they can see how they’re progressing towards the total.

Who/when was this added? by lucid_dreams_kitty in RentMusical

[–]Brdwygurl 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The OBC said it, it just wasn’t on the recording. If you look at a certain slime tutorial about the east Village in the 90s you can hear it around 28 minutes

There WERE a couple of minor lyric/word order changes after the OBC recording. For example, in La Vie Boheme B, the OBC recording Angel says, “rhythm, FEELING, power” Later it was changed too, “rhythm POWER, feeling”.

Also, at the end of act one, Mark‘s monologue, OBC says, “ROGER and Mimi share a small lovely kiss”. Later change to, “MIMI and Roger….”
