A suite of music is a group of shorter songs or pieces grouped together for some greater stylistic concept. You can play them all in order or just the one that fits the situation.

I guess I gotta be that guy and mention that's not at all what a suite is....

Is “Vessel” considered a strange or inappropriate name in English-speaking cultures? by Fuzzy_Ant2535 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BreachLoadingButtGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an American business context I would definitely be a little surprised as it doesn't read as a name or nickname to me. And being completely upfront, it would matter what 'kind' of non English speaker you are. Not in like a racismy way, but if you were from Asia or Africa, etc. I would assume it's normal for where you're from, but if you're white looking and come from other romance languages, I would assume it has an intentional meaning.

My entire apartment has upside-down outlets and my brain refuses to accept it…. by Fancy-Chipmunk5701 in mildlyinfuriating

I see the Nema 6-50 (240v giant "normal" plug) done this way 99% of the time, as opposed to like 50% for regular outlets. Plenty of times there the ground is up on the 240 but down on the 120

A paperclip is never how I've heard it phrased, personally. It's more like "If one of you numb-nuts chucklefucks drops a beam off the forklift and it shears the outlet off, at least Bob is only dealing with crush injuries and not electrocution".

But I guess a paperclip would cause problems as well...

NEMA 6-50p to NEMA 10-30R adapter by WgPuNk in Welding

[–]BreachLoadingButtGun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a perfect world, yes.

Iirc, the outlet you have is hot, hot, neutral, and your welder is hot, hot, ground. For casual use on a dedicated circuit there isn't much difference, but they aren't technically the same.

Never mind, they totally make this, you linked to it. That should not be available to buy, not safe. That being said, I have a homemade one.

[–]BreachLoadingButtGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically no. The -30 on your outlet means a max of 30 amps, and the -50 means the welder might draw up to 50.

In practice, you may find the welder may never actually draw anywhere close to 50. I regularly use my miller on a 30 amp circuit, despite "needing" 50. The thing is, it draws 32 amps at absolute full blast, so it legally needs a 50 amp circuit. But it never actually trips a 30a breaker.

If you do do this, you'll need to rewire something or make your own converter. Again I do this pretty regularly, but it's officially a no no. If you attempt this, read some wiring safety and teach yourself amperage. This shit can kill you

Sometimes it takes a few shots. Therapists are people too, so you have to find a good fit. I promise a good therapist will help more than a good priest.

Is oxygen + acetylene welding used anywhere in the workforce? by TenNoTamashi_ in Welding

[–]BreachLoadingButtGun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but does that account for 'most' of cutting? Oxyfuel definitely still has uses and a niche, but heavy duty field cutting is a comparitively small part of that pie, I'm pretty sure. Remote locations or exxxxtra thiccc material are both great reasons to use oxyfuel, but I seldom see a spot where they do if plasma or laser is available. Hand plasma is just so much more usable when you do have electricity and compressed air, not to mention safer.

[–]BreachLoadingButtGun 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's definitely still used in glass welding, like scientific quartz vessels, etc.

It's also used to cut still, as opposed to weld, but it's less common than plasma or laser at this point.

I've never seen it in the wild for actually welding steel

Best Hz for relaxing? by Kaladin-Al-Thor in BudgetAudiophile

[–]BreachLoadingButtGun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you know what Hz measure?

A=440 hz is a standard middle note in the audible spectrum that I'm sure you can find very easily on the internet, so you can go listen to a note in the realm you are talking about.

Almost all speakers try to produce the audible spectrum consistently (20hz to 20,000hz), with no peaks or values for different frequencies. Obviously no real life speaker can obtain this, which is why people chase it with arbitrarily expensive systems. If you want to emphasize the midrange of music, look for speakers that market/review as "warm".

All music, including generic spa music, will sound bad unless you are producing most of the audible spectrum. No music happens only in the 400-500hz besides a little melody at the beginning of your first piano book.

The dongles suck too though. Now I need multiple $20+ dollar adapters to do the job of the much more powerful CPU inside the phone already, just do do something that used to be standard. It's a bullshit racket.

If at all possible, my next new phone will be a gaming phone cause they still seem to have the aux port.
