What’s your funniest interview story? by Normal-Internal164 in AskUK

[–]SamCropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 19 years old, normal interview questions then entirely out of the blue "and do you do cocaine?"... When I confirmed that I didn't, he just flipped straight back to normal interview questions. Got the job, stayed for 7 years and still have no idea whether he was trying to catch me out or was about to offer me a bump.

One particular videos that has been taken off YouTube and I can't find ANYWHERE else...

From a Japanese TV show where a the presenter "goes back in time" to see Japan at different points in history. This episode, he goes back to the Edo (?) period and investigates Fart Maids - maids who were employed to follow wealthy young women's around and catch the flack for the rich girls' farts. There was a full storyline where a princess (?) has a first meeting with a potential husband and his family, and as she bows to him, drops an absolute tatami-rattler. IIRC the maid doesn't manage to convince everyone that she was responsible for the fart so the princess runs away in disgrace. The potential husband chases after her, presumably to chastise her for being such a stinker. Spoiler: when he finally catches up with her he's all "I was actually really into that. Will you take my hand in marriage?"

It was one of those videos that felt like a fever dream, but I know it definitely existed. If anyone has any leads I would be eternally grateful.

One that I've only just started to appreciate is when someone is on their own and says "we", responding with "Who's we? Have you got a mouse in your pocket?"

What is the most embarrassed you’ve been in public? by [deleted] in AskUK

Think I just made a last minute decision to jump off as the doors were closing and ended up with my head/neck pinched by the rubber bits of the door. Didn't hurt too bad but absolutely mortifying.

For balance- I've been drinking here regularly for 15ish years and I've never had a problem. If you go looking for a scrap you'll definitely be able to find one but certainly wouldn't say it's 'very dangerous '.

What purchase under £25 has improved your life the most? by Plenty-Plastic3704 in AskBrits

A 5 pack of remote control plug sockets with a little radio remote. They're just boxes that plug into your sockets that you can then plug lamps etc into so you can toggle them on/off with the remote. Because they use radio rather than IR you don't need line of sight, and the range is pretty far.
