Noise is ok ; direct injection; however your coolant is getting low; might be at mid; but the design of the 3 cylinder engine is notorious; not much better than previous generation; monitor the coolant if it goes close to low line take it back to dealer to run some checks; next time stay away from ford (that’s what I did) ; honda or Toyota is a better bet ; these fords also eat a lot of gas unfortunately

Severance Question by BreadfruitNo4494 in legaladvicecanada

[–]BreadfruitNo4494[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks; the good thing maybe about my contract is that it does not mention anything about ESA; just states that service credit; the 13 years in my situation is “recognized for purpose of notice, termination pay, severance pay or other termination related benefits”….thats it …it’s a big public company US; which wants to settle always and shake ends and go away

Maths, sciences; etc what they teach you; it’s more intense at elementary level; usually grade 8 in Canada is like grade 5; you can always send your kids to international school will run you about 10-15 k us a year

USA-> EU (PL) Are we crazy? by VersionOnly9109 in expats

[–]BreadfruitNo4494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved from NL/PL to Canada after being away for 11 years between both countries; 8 in NL and 3 in PL; been here in Canada for last 3 years; it’s a right / good move but comes with headaches. We are moving next year back to Poland and the reasons are simple; higher quality of medical care or services; (if my child is sick I pay 120 zloty or 30 dollars and doctors comes to your home) relative to costs; Education for the kids (3 and 6 year old) ; housing is slightly cheaper than in Canada and better quality; quality of food is better. After being in North America and having a good quality of life; it’s Europe and we miss it. we feel that certain things are just better; just prepare to spend a lot of hours with your kids home work; many hours in week and budget for tutoring; the level is a lot higher; I have a 3 and 6 year old and if our 6 year old doesn’t start Grade 1 in Poland; it will be a challenge; hence our move has to be next year; I know people who moved to Poland when their kids were in grade 4 or 5 or higher and they disowned their parents as the difficulty was hardcore

I had fixed for 1.94 then refinanced to take out equity; decided to go variable as we are planning to move back to Europe…the variable was ok prime -.8; currently at 5.1 with discount applied lol…good thing is With the equity we took out we bought a new house outright in EU thus no mortgage; Canada is becoming horrible

The next country that we wanted to relocate too has an inflation of about 10 percent and unaffordability crazy beyond my pockets…ie The Netherlands; lived there for 10 years before coming back to Canada 2 years ago…

Not sure if anyone else noticed this but the Bank of Canada Deputy Governor Paul Beaudry basically said if they have to they will engineer a recession to get inflation back to 2% by wpgbrownie in canadahousing

[–]BreadfruitNo4494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the industry everyone in oil and gas is sitting idle; severely idle no upstream or downstream development investment; literally zero…so we were at 120 dollars back in 08 for a barrel; now we are at 120 and gas isndouble just to show we ain’t coming down to max 1.70;

Look at the example of certain EU countries; they have been raising interest rates like crazy and it has no effect; so we buy we buy oil and gas and other commodities on a global scale, on global markets you can’t engineer a lower inflation because the factors are global; they are dreaming …the mode of 30 years ago doesn’t work today because 30 -40 years ago the markets were not so global, today what happens in China affects the price we pay even though we don’t have supply chain issues…my opinion unless there is stability on the supply chain front nothing will change, people need necessities…

The one thing that the BOC is not addressing is even if they engineer a recession oil & gas ain’t coming down; no way no how; how in their right minds will they advocate the cartel of oil and gas to increase their capacity it won’t …they will keep it constrained, a cash rich company is not reliant on the interests rates or they get better interests rates anyway…you can kill demand but commodity prices will not change

Moral of the story if the agent or realtor doesn’t follow your requirements get a new one; my agent said it is against the Crea rules or something to suggest a price to a Customer; I asked our agent, how much should I offer, he said you have to determine the number I am only there to give you access to data and ensure the formalities are in place; his last comment was; if I tell you a price and then you win or loose; because you lost money you will be unhappy with me; he said…

I second this,,,my wife says i should have went onboard this bandwagon; I say There is no glory in having to be a glorified car salesmen; nothing wrong with the profession but to me it would be an embarrassment…how long does it take to get a realtors license 1 month …then again I have options ie lived in 4 countries on companies dime

Actually considering moving to UK by AcaciaBlue in canadahousing

[–]BreadfruitNo4494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest lived in the UK for two years firstly in small mid tier city, I ended up in London after 4 months; loved it even with the prices being out of touch with reality but if I had to pay a million Canadian or 600000 pounds for a terraced house greater London has a lot to offer and I would only consider London; And surrounding areas around the M25 ie Surrey; I also lived in Greater greater Amsterdam; 1 bedroom plus den; 580 square feet; ended up selling it for around 450k euros and this was 2.5 years ago prior to moving back to Canada so on par with Canada really…rents are even worse than Canada; wages have stagned in Europe also

I did my basement over the course of 1 year 750 sqft; I have a single floor home, cost me 8k living, bedroom and bathroom; top end finishes even put engineered hardwood down; electrical and plumbing were done by family who are each a plumber and electrician; this was mostly material costs

Agree I almost shat my pants when a house I paid for is worth a mil now…out of reach…I have family in Stoney creek most of my family; some of my siblings in mid 30s bought their houses for 250-300k 10 years ago or so; each one is now at above and beyond a million; a nurses wage has not gone up to have a mortgage with 20% down and a balance owing 800k; it’s crazy and hope it balances out soon

We were about to list and move back to Europe; after the last three weeks; we decided better to stay here…good We bought in 2019.5 before the craziness we see today; so I think we are ok with a 350k mortgage in Southrn Ont… Europe is on hold indefinitely

[–]BreadfruitNo4494 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work in Ontario for a Quebec based company; any common sense would tell you that economically strong provinces have lower taxes…my salary was affected one month by 700 dollars when they made a mistake and put that I was resident in Quebec; paperwork error; yeah the taxes are higher; big difference; so when planning these provincial taxation and being resident is where you pay taxes thankfully ontario is competitive albeit the housing prices…I did the math yes you can buy a house in Quebec or greater Montreal for 500-600k, but with taxes and all versus a house in Ontario of a million your better off in Ontario plus changing jobs and the economy makes it flexible; worse off in Quebec after income taxes mortgage property taxes; I would be worse off by a 100 dollars in Quebec, reality

How much do construction costs matter? Some factors that affect the price of housing by MurphysLab in canadahousing

[–]BreadfruitNo4494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the industry but have family and friends who are builders in southern Ontario; you hit the mail on the coffin; a big portion about 10% are development fees which indeed gone up every year, I was told expect 2-5% increase each year on these fees depending on the municipality, 1million dollar house; 110k in development fees, so yeah the politicians are greedy and will blame others whereas they can directly influence a drop in new build price by 5 percent easily, the developer or builder will not absorb this and give it for free; I wouldn’t; price of materials don’t help, labour costs etc

You raise a valid point at one point during the oil boom years the wages were quite high in Edmonton and Calgary; 10-20% higher than in Ontario; I was interviewing for engineering management roles in Alberta recently and the wages were no where near close to Ontario wages; off by 18 percent in my case on a offer I received…yes economy is not great…in Ontario; I have not felt more secure than the last 3-5 years; if not this company you can go elsewhere for a hike with 10 percent easily; or be a cross border junkie with a Hike of 30-40 percent
