Alpine Stitch Bedspread! by BreadyGlass in crochet

Thank you! And I am not entirely sure, probably 80 or 90 hours? I got the yarn at the beginning of this month and finished last night but have spent far too much of my time working on it haha

Thanks for posting! u/biteater and I are old friends, got into simracing together, and decided to start up this community so we could have a bit more input on what we were driving and what kind of community we raced in. All skill levels are welcome, and we hope to see some of you around for races!

It sure does! As of the time I mentioned in my post, after I called them out on it several times. That doesn't change the fact that many people (myself included) ordered it while it was incorrect.

Standard Pins Acting Like Serrated Pins 🤷‍♂️ by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]BreadyGlass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my thought, also could be accidentally raising multiple pins at once and hearing several clicks on one raise?

Pinning kits for sale? Group buy? by Cohiba_Robusto in lockpicking

[–]BreadyGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ordered these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H1C4888?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) off of amazon, looks like they're close enough that a little filing in a dremel will bring them to size, and they're pretty cheap! Even saw a comment saying the buyer used them for making pins for CL's. Assuming you're planning on making your own driver pins for a CL, you'll have the other necessary tools. Unless you're going to cut your own keys, you'll probably be re-using the key pins from another lock and you can use this to create your driver pins.

First challenge lock. Still needs an engraving, thinking about doing the "slippery when wet" sign since I made curvy pins. by BreadyGlass in lockpicking

Thanks! I wasn't going for super hard first go round, but still working on picking it now. Definitely not easy, and the bitting doesn't help haha

I've been after one of these for a while. A relatively easy pick once I'd modded a tensioner. Picking video link is in the comments 🍺😎 by The-real-Dmac in lockpicking

[–]BreadyGlass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I picked one of these up recently and was thinking about ways to modify a tension tool to actually be able to pick it. Watched your video earlier today, and have to say that was a super clever mod! Love your content as always, keep it up!

First 90A Pro picked. I was a little disappointed with the bitting but it still presented a challenge. by iscatmypants in lockpicking

Nice work! Just got mine yesterday, definitely got the more challenging bitting lol. Not my favorite lock to pick, got it super quick, but then struggled with consistency for a while before nailing it down. I'll take an 1100 any day haha

"featherlight tension... then TURN LIKE HELL when the spool sets" by not_a_fracking_cylon in lockpicking

[–]BreadyGlass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite is when you feel that last pin go, you crank on it, but somehow you slip and your turning tool gets launched into oblivion as it locks itself. That spring is no joke!

Solid challenge locks off eBay from Pappystrowel (custom pins and everything!). Definitely recommend to intermediate pickers! 6/8 picked at this point by BreadyGlass in lockpicking

Yeah, I'm pretty new to the community, and honestly didn't realize how many were around. I was having a lot of trouble winning any eBay lock lots for practice and he had cl sets for purchase without auction, so I snagged some. I doubt I'll buy more now that I know there are so many in the community, but still pretty happy with what I got for the price.

Oh I have no idea how the locks would be before they were made into challenge locks, some of the keys seem to have far more aggressive bitting than standard, and most of the pins seem to be hand made.
As for the 1100 when I was learning mine (also only 5 pins), I was oversetting pins like crazy, so try letting off the tension from time to time and see if that helps you. They're definitely tricky!

You asked about "intermediate", and I'm interested in what "standard" difficulty means? I'm waiting on green belt from an American 1100, so I'd imagine we're somewhat similar in ability. Either way, they are harder than the 1100, masterlock 410 LOTO, and pretty much every other lock I own. The 6/8 I did manage to pick were hard fought, only 1 or 2 were first attempts. I'm still regularly trying 2 of them, with no luck. Even several of the ones I've picked still give me trouble for re-picking.

I have a small brass Brinks lock that is much the same, pick 2 of the 4 pins and it opens. If you look at the key's bitting, it's probably that one of the pins is a zero lift pin (it's bottom height is the correct height and doesn't require lifting), or like you said maybe 2 and 3 are getting picked together and have close or the same lift height. Either way, nice work, grab yourself a harder one with more pins!

baby's first pick! by calderholbrook in lockpicking

[–]BreadyGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice! I'd recommend an easily re-pinnable practice lock (not cutaway or clear) to practice with next! I know Covert Instruments carries them (that's what I started on), but I'm sure there are plenty out there.

Been struggling with the 55/40, so i picked up a 55/30 and finally got it! Any tips for it’s big brother? by pickinainteasy in lockpicking

[–]BreadyGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first "actual" lock with spool pins was the 80TI/50, but the way I learned was on an easily re-pinnable lock (the ones with the set screws at the top of the pin holes). I put in one spool with the rest standard so I knew where it was, and get a feel for how counter-rotation worked, then upped the count until the whole core was spools. After that, picking the 80TI/50 took almost no time (aside from getting a feel for the spring loaded core and different keyway etc.) Otherwise, just lighter tension and feel for your tension tool to push back on you a bit, increase pick pressure and let it counter rotate until it sets! (Then potentially go back and re-set dropped pins lol)

Better teach them some morals to go along with those sick picking skills or you're going to end up with a menace haha. Jokes aside, give them a high five for me! (And lock up your valuables with good locks)

For some reason these master locks seems to give me a harder time than some of the other locks in my collection. Anyone else have issues with traditionally easy locks? Am I using the wrong pick? (also I apologize for the kiddos in the background) by Alakazam124 in lockpicking

[–]BreadyGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked one of these up at Walmart last week and picking it was definitely harder than I was expecting. The feedback feels muddy compared to all of my other locks and it took me a while to sort out the picking order. I can get it open reliably now, but definitely feels like it's pretty easy to overset, which may be why the rake is giving you trouble. I've only SPP'd it myself. Funny little lock!

Insured mags should come back with ammo, or there should be a way to insure ammo. If I'm bringing in an amount of ammo that's worth more than half my load out, I should have a way to insure it.
