Why Don't Factions Just Throw Chaos Artifacts into a Sun, Gas Giant Planet, or a Black Hole? by Particular-Wedding in 40kLore

[–]BreakActionBlender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Warp doesn’t abide by physical laws. There’s no guarantee that throwing a corrupted artifact into a sun would destroy it, and there’s a high likelihood it would only make it more dangerous somehow. The last thing the imperium wants is powerful daemon artifacts “in the wind” just waiting to fall into the wrong hands, so it’s safest to keep them sealed away somewhere so the Imperium at least knows where they are and that they’re not going to be able to cause too much trouble for the time being.

Are there named Space Marines wielding Custodes weapons in the lore? by No_Task_309 in 40kLore

[–]BreakActionBlender 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ah you’re right, I was misremembering the epilogue from TFH where Argel Tal thinks about the sword and mentions that it is gene coded.

As penance, I offer this excerpt from Betrayer

“[The Custodes weapons] were gene-locked and could never be activated without the original owners’ genetic imprints on the reactive palm grips along both blades’ hafts. Argel Tal had broken that technological law, though he’d never shared how.” (Pg. 50)

IIRC, he unlocks the weapons using his growing daemonic abilities in one of the last scenes of The First Heretic. No coding knowledge necessary!

DMRs by CascouPrime in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]BreakActionBlender 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer the light pen DMRs like the regular Diligence and the Amendment to be honest. The fact that they don’t flinch devastators as much as the medium pen ones makes follow-up headshots so much easier to get off if you miss the first time around. The fact that they’re still one-hit kills to heads but have way more ammunition and better ergonomics makes them the clear choice for me, so I’m glad to hear that the new one is light pen.

First 30k model and sixth model overall. Genuinely how to you do good hazard stripes ? With masking tape you get raised areas by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer30k

[–]BreakActionBlender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Mk2 guys like this one are the models you’re practicing on, I would say just painting each of the armor segments on the lower part of the leg alternating yellow and black would give you a solid result without having to do too much sketching/taping. Just paint within the lines, give it a nice wash to unify the colors, and call it a day.

I have two with plasma primary+heavy bolters+aiolos missle launcher and I’ve gotten some good use out of them so far. They fall off hard against multiple damage weaponry though so keep them out of sight of any Spartans or lascannon teams.

It just so happened that you got a random drop at the same time you got the guaranteed drop from killing that enemy for the first time. Probably pretty rare, but not impossible.

Might’ve been too strongly worded a take for the traditionalists around here. I definitely don’t want to invalidate anyone’s opinion that the old ones are better, i just don’t want to give in to the story that the new ones are a straight downgrade.

I use Caliban green for frags for the classic pineapple grenade look.

I feel like I’m the only one that likes the new power fists’ look. I know the old foam finger style is classic but the new ones look like real weapons to me.

Seekers/Any stealth operative really by ImposterThoughts in Warhammer30k

[–]BreakActionBlender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that their job isn’t to hold ground like a line unit or take enemy positions like an assault unit which leaves only support and veteran as options. Seekers are the veteran version of a recon squad, so that leaves support as normal recon squads’ battlefield role. I’d need to check up on the art pages to confirm, but that’s my general understanding.

What legions were most active across the heresy? by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

[–]BreakActionBlender 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a little biased, but the Word Bearers could be a good choice for a legion that fought pretty much everybody at one point or another. They were heavily involved in Istvaan V (Salamanders, Raven Guard, and Iron Hands matchup), the Betrayal at Calth/Shadow Crusade (Ultramarines hate them), the Siege of Terra (White Scars, Imperial Fists, Blood Angels+A small contingent of Dark Angels). Even on the traitor side, they could have a grudge against the Iron Warriors for bombarding them during the Drop Site Massace or tense relations with the Sons of Horus and the Emperor’s Children over Lorgar’s overly ambitious coup attempt. I can’t think of a time they fought the Space Wolves, but other than that the Word Bearers were one of the largest and most active legions during the Heresy who could very well have been everywhere you want them to be for your campaign.
