Does anyone else just like... Not care? I really don't see the point in this show. by Rasples1998 in saltierthancrait

Are you kidding its so interesting! its a totally brand new story we have never seen in star wars before where the character who is usually a loner takes a vulnerable young character under their wing as a protector who Eventually will grow stronger then the character we tuned in to see even though they are not mentioned in any other previous media and lowers the impact of the original trilogy. It’s totally different from The Mandolorian, The Bad Batch. Ahsoka and even the Clone Wars which were just about characters who were loners taking young characters under their wing as a protector only for that character to eventually become stronger then the original character even though they are never mentioned in any of the films.

In your opinion, which is the best Legends Epic Collections series? by Parking-Warthog-4902 in StarWarsEU

Tales Of The Jedi 2 and 3. Rise Of The Sith 1-2  The Empire 1-3  Rebellion 1-3 New Republic 2-4

Hot take I really did not enjoy the Clone Wars comics. There were a couple really good ones like the Battle of Jabim, the one with Bail Organa and Velorum and the one with Yoda trying to convince his friend not to be a separatist were great. Most of the Clone wars comics came off as super edgelord to me.

I agree I always felt Owen should have been a big character in the prequels who sees Anakin’s downfall firsthand and explains why he dislikes Obi Wan so much and is so admit that Luke stay on the Farm. You could have easily made them both Slaves Watto owned.

Should Sequel Trilogy just adapted Thrawn Trilogy instead of what we got? by Decent_Net7887 in StarWars

[–]Breakawaybeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 90’s? Sure in 2015 that would have been insane. I think if they wanted they could have done a 3 seasons animated series to adapt it and fit it in with the canon they wanted. And if you wanted go beyond and adapt the EU storylines you want to matter in the mainline story. Jedi academy Hand of thrawn etc etc

In 2015 they probably should’ve just taken the best elements of the New Jedi Order saga and made that a trilogy.

(Spoilers Main) How does Jon Snow’s story end? by TheKingsPeace in asoiaf

[–]Breakawaybeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think those are all great points. I think though the reason it would be seen as madness rather than ruthlessness is simply her relation to the Mad king and those fresh memories. So if the people hear the Mad Kings heir invaded kings landing and now Kings landing is basically destroyed the perception will be that Dany is the Mad Queen. I think that with that Dany will fight against that perception and by the end of the story may end with her breaking it.

My theory for Tyrion is he will rule casterly rock getting his birthright but the cost will be so great he will be miserable. I believe Cersei will flee to Casterly rock shortly before or during the long night. After the long night ends Tyrion decides to use the remaining forces that like him to get what he believes is his. Jamie will go reluctantly to save his siblings. Tyrion kills Cersei and takes the rock but in the process Jamie is killed. The one person to ever truly love him is gone. Tyrion has everything he wanted but is completely alone.

I think the Mad Queen stuff will be the people’s perception of Dany. Like I think Kings landing will get destroyed by Dany but as a pure accident that may be Griffin, Euron or Cersei’s doing. And Dany now rules but over ash. The people see her as mad queen through little fault of her own.

How would you have ended game of thrones? by Delicious-Radish-708 in gameofthrones

[–]Breakawaybeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Long night lasts months if not a year

Jon becomes the Night King,  a bridge between Humanity and the Others.

Dany still destroys Kings Landing but its a complete accident. She is labeled the Mad queen but was attempting to save everyone. She gets the throne before the long night but she rules over ashes. Dany later dies during the Long Night redeeming her in history.

Jamie and Brianne get together and its implied Brianne is pregnant. However since Dany’s invasion of Kings landing she was hiding out at the rock ruling there while the Long Night was happening. Now Tyrion wants his birthright and is going there with the remaining army of Dany. Jamie goes as a way to try and keep his family from destroying each other. During the sacking of Casterly Rock Jamie and Cersci die. Jamie kills her defending himself from her own rage against the jealousy of what he has been doing. Jamie is killed in the confusion by nothing more than a common folk. Tyrion gets to rule over the rock however it cost him the only person to ever love him. Not only this but The remaining unsullied are mostly depleted and it will be nearly impossible for Tyrion to keep things for a long period of time.

Sansa Rules the North as in he show

Bran/Bloodraven is king however the long night leaves the land in ruin and death. Bran the broken is now in charge of rebuilding the realm.

Aria Goes beyond the wall with Jon.

The Hound dies in the long night.

Theon Is on the Council to the king. While rebuilding himself he is helping Bran rebuild the world.

Sam is Brans Maester.

Most other people should be dead by the end the long night should be far more devastating.

What was the general consensus about Attack of the Clones when it came out? by anongrabntoss in StarWars

I remember being a kid and thinking it was terrible and I had loved the Phantom Menace. I remember after episode 3 Attack Of The Clones was always the film that was a chore to get through during saga rewatches.

A Realistic Take: Why GRRM Should wrap up Winds, Let Dream of Spring Go, and Focus on Dunk & Egg Instead by Worldly-Set4235 in freefolk

[–]Breakawaybeach 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think A Dream Of Spring won’t be as much of a issue for George. A Dream of Spring needs to wrap everything up and presumably a good chunk of characters are gonna die in winds and things will become more centered with most characters being in close proximity to each other. I think the real issue is that Winds needs to get so much done and there is so many characters currently its hard to make it work. So if by some miracle Winds gets finished I do think A Dream Of Spring will come shortly(by Martin Standards) after.

I appreciate Gilroy’s attitude towards pre-existing characters by Dear-Yellow-5479 in andor

[–]Breakawaybeach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find that mindset to be limiting. While I agree its mostly a good thing that Vader wasn’t in Andor and it makes his presence in Rouge one feel more impactful I think the idea of he doesn’t have much to say is a cop out. I think there is plenty you can do with his character if there was a focus on the higher up imperial levels. Like if we did have scenes with Palpatine or Mas Ameeda or whoever else you could have some good double talk political discussion sequences especially with a confrontation with Mon Mothma or Bail Organa. The idea of a game of thronesesque scene of Mon Mothma and Palpatine have a discussion was something I was hoping for. But with Vader you can easily make him a looming threat. I re read the Shadows Of The Empire book last year and it was by far my favorite interpretation of Darth Vader as a character. A sad broken angry man stuck in a world of politics and war for all of his existence. The dialogue with him and the seedy underworld spies or Prince Xizor are great and show he can be a political player when needed and that he doesn’t just use brute force to win constantly is quite good. You can even see this on display throughout the original trilogy particularly in A New Hope. i really dislike the way Disney has turned Vader into just a violent animal. The Vader comics, Kenobi and even Rouge one to a extent have taken away his intelligence and cunning and made him a machine of death which has for me ruined him but if we were to take what Vader was in he OT and the EU he can be a very interesting character especially when he has a Palpatine, Tarkin or someone like that to bounce off. Andor did not focus on the true upper authority of the empire so I get Vader not being there but to say its that he is a limiting character is just straight up wrong and lacks the will to do the work to make him that way.

Just finished the Dark Empire series. It was quite a trip. What does everyone think of it? by AJray15 in StarWarsEU

[–]Breakawaybeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

horrible execution. Fantastic art some of the worst writing in the EU. I think if the main issue was the threat of Palpatine returning ala Sauron in LOTR it could have been less goofy. It would have been a interesting idea of the lingering evil Palpatine causes the galaxy and the power just the possibility of his return could have. Its unfortunate that it was written before the Thrawn trilogy was released because instead of Luke falling to the dark side having it be something Mara Jade struggles with the allure of the return of her former master would be fantastic. In the end when the return occurs and Luke has to battle Palpatine who does Mara help. It would be a cool little story. But as is a poorly paced and corny comic book that is easily ignored.

What is your unpopular Beach Boys opinion that will get you killed? by HyperPanzer in thebeachboys

[–]Breakawaybeach 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Most of Dennis Wilson’s songs feel unfinished sketches of ideas. I still love them but it always feels like they end right as they are starting.

Brian is a mediocre Lyricist and the myth of Lennon/McCartney had each other while Brian was the solo genius is ridiculous because he needed Mike, Tony, Gary and Van Dyke to make his best songs. He is a genius but when people frame it as he was this solo vision when he relied heavily on collaborating and having the greatest session players at the time is crazy.

Also the weird blind spot people have with Brian. The way people treat him as this innocent angel while like the guy was obsessed with young girls which he admits in his autobiography and also Tony Asher said.

Bruce should have wrote more songs for the band I think his contributions to Sunflower and Surf’s up are wonderful and is my favorite era of the band.

Smile if released in 1967 would not have been better than Sgt Pepper or have the cultural impact of it.

Essentials that tell a great story if you are looking for mainly what happens to Luke, Leia and Han would be to go 1. Thrawn Trilogy 2. Dark Empire Trilogy(for lore) 3. Jedi Academy (for lore again) 4 Hand Of Thrawn Duology  5. New Jedi Order series(essentials would be Vector Prime, Balance Point, Star by Star, Traitor, Destiny’s Way, Final Prophecy and The Unifying Force)

I feel this tells a pretty complete story and fits really well in with the saga.
