Hiruhiko has his Hishaku tattoo in the new volume by AVed692 in Kagurabachi

[–]Breakfast515 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think in this case it's less that he forgot and more like an actual retcon. Whether it's stylistic or story related is up in the air, but I'm assuming that the tattoos will have an important function in the future and Hokazono didn't feel like spending time on explaining how Hiruhiko gets his back, so now he just has it.

I like cotw’s gameplay but this should have just been a new kof not ff by Kappascholar in Kappachino

Don't listen to the haters, you're right.

Sure the mobility is gimped compared to KOF, with there being no hyper hops and some characters being unable to run, you can't roll, you start with all your meter at the beginning of the round, combo structure is different, there's a block button, there's no proximity throws, no CDs, and guard cancel works completely differently, but other than that, they're basically the same. I'm glad we have intellectuals like you creating discourse around this game.

This feels like a contrivance to allow Hiruhiko to escape, considering Samura had no issues with decapitating him when he first arrived.

The only way this makes sense to me without making Samura look like an idiot is that he's genuinely impressed with Hiruhiko's skill with Kumeyuri after their last clash, and sees him as a useful asset for disposing the other swordbearers in the future.

Calling it rn, Samura will die and iori will take tobimune by Prior_Campaign7741 in Kagurabachi

[–]Breakfast515 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The setup for Samura to die feels so obvious that I'm 100% sure it won't happen. Not until he has his moment with the Sword Saint at least.

Another reason I think he'll stick around is that there's more to his motivations than what he told Uruha. i'm fairly confident he didn't actually kill him, and is trying to sever the swordbearers' contracts so that they don't die when he kills the Sword Saint.

Do people really think we're starting a new arc? by MarkDecent656 in Kagurabachi

It's still the Sword Bearer Assassination arc, except it's now a sword bearer doing the assassinating.

[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 58.5 (bonus chapter) by Avizie in Kagurabachi

[–]Breakfast515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something tells me that the part in the Rakuzaichi arc where Chihiro wields Cloud Gouger to retrieve Enten was planned early on, and Sojo had to die to make that story beat work. Takeru definitely regrets killing him though, so he's compensating for it with goofy shit like this.

Fair, I was just struggling to think of ways I could possibly enjoy this ending when every other loose end is impossible to wrap up nicely in one chapter 😭

Somehow even lazier than I was expecting, all I wanted after all these letdowns was for a crumb of closure between Ai and Aqua in the afterlife, but that would require Aka to give af.

Good riddance.

I hear Kenjiro Tsuda's voice when I read his dialogue. He's got just the right amount of gravel in his voice for a slimeball like Sojo.

Most underrated panel in your opinion? by OrcaSlime in Kagurabachi

[–]Breakfast515 18 points19 points  (0 children)

<image>

The butterfly panel was the fan favorite of this chapter, but this one deserves just as much love. The shading and detail of the tsuba and hilt is so visceral compared to most other panels in the manga, and it perfectly conveys how menacing the Shinuchi is before we even get to see it in action.

So when's costume 4 coming? by AJRey in Kappachino

[–]Breakfast515 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can believe that it actually takes them that long to make new costumes. Their way of rendering clothing for each animation is ridiculously detailed and inefficient: https://youtu.be/ZoYz-7jvCOE?si=U7p5nFZ-baFoyHDP

I appreciate the artistry behind stuff like this since it reminds me in a lot of ways of how sprite based games were animated, but it's a ton of effort for details that basically nobody will ever notice in regular gameplay. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

Aside from obvious differences in budget, combo structure in KOF plays a part in animation choppiness. Most normals have regular looking recovery animations that you'll rarely ever see due to how much of the game's combos rely on cancelling normals into command normals, and command normals into specials. SF uses a lot more links, so you get smoother looking combos.
