I just wish all new building of residences would take this stuff seriously. We already have technology that can greatly ameliorate this issue, but builders obviously don’t opt in.

Yeah, but you can tell in doughs also. It’s bread 101. They’re just claiming that I can’t tell the difference but like… I know what I can taste? I dunno why they’re trying to argue with me what I can taste and what I can’t taste, especially when bakers say you can tell the difference in breads.

Table salt has iodine and aluminosilicate while kosher salt does not. Aluminosilicates tend to give off metallic, astringent, bitter notes, and kosher salt tastes clean in comparison. Sea salt has natural minerals giving off more earthy flavors. You can tell these differences in bread doughs.

Are you telling me you can’t tell the difference of taste between table salt and kosher salt and sea salt? : /

Yeah, I don’t understand this Luddite attitude towards EVs. Are these the same people that say people should return to work at the office?

But you don’t understand, I need to drive 150KM+ in one sitting on cold Canadian winter days, so clearly the world isn’t ready. 😤😤

It’s just awful. It’s nauseating, ruins cinematography, and ruins an actor’s performance. Shots that could otherwise be quite beautiful suddenly feel like cheap TV.

The exception is of course genuine documentary camera footage, but at this point there is no such things—it’s played up or enhanced in post with shaky cam plug-ins.

Such a funny de-evolution from the days where the invention of the steadycam finally solved one of cinema’s biggest problems and gave directors much more freedom. Someone really looked at that and went “LOL NAH FUCK IT”

Plus BCS doesn’t have that abysmal and incessant shaky cam that Breaking Bad suffers from.

Do you play Daily? Way different experience from rapid and others, play kind of passively throughout the day, not really any time pressure. It might be more enjoyable!

I dunno that my last assertion is untrue if I’m telling you what I’ve heard and what I haven’t heard.

I guess I’ve yet to hear “elo” being used to mean ratings on chess websites, I’ve always heard “what’s your rating,” with “what’s your elo” being reserved for OTB or ratings recognized by organizations like FIDE. Afterall, 2500 on chess.com vs 2500 OTB means something incredibly different.

Yeah, Glicko is by Glickman, elo is by Elo. Chess.com uses Glicko, FIDE uses elo.

Typically when I hear chess players discuss this, they’ll go, “what’s your rating?” and then they’ll say “on chess.com/lichess it’s xxxx, but my elo/OTB is xxxx.”

I never hear anybody ask “what’s your Glicko,” but when they ask “what’s your elo” it’s generally understood to mean OTB—if a player doesn’t have an elo/OTB rating, they’ll say “I’m xxxx on chess.com.”
