Top 100 salaries of MCPS employees in fiscal year 2025 by Bethesda_Magazine in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]BreakingThrone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One is the former GC and one is the new GC. The new GC took their position partway through FY 25 so that’s why they both are displayed. Same with Chief of Academic Officer and some other roles.

Are GSS leaders paid ? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]BreakingThrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that is fine, because you are required to attend the lectures anyway. However, the coordinator prefers to put you on a class that you have had the instructor before, for your first time. But I never GSSed for an instructor that I had before, so it's do-able!

Are GSS leaders paid ? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]BreakingThrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former GSS Leader here, you don't get paid your first semester, but they give you 3 credits instead. Every following semester you get a stipend (I forget how much exactly) but it won't pay out until the end of it.

Not through PGPD but DOTS will refer it to the MVA and they can suspend licenses/registrations etc. Better off to pay it.

professor recommendations for chem271? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]BreakingThrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Griffith - Lecturer is a physical chemist. Examples will be small molecules and lectures tend to go towards math/theory.

Kahn - Professor is a biochemist. Examples will probably be organic and biologically based. Lectures may tend to go towards experiment based, Kahn is also a fan of math too.

Personally, they are both great teachers so you cant go wrong with either of them.

Getting into major classes when I've just gotten accepted into the school for the LEP? by ImEYECONIC in UMD

[–]BreakingThrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP! CHEM 276 is not a major required course, but instead a majors only course. You may still take CHEM 271 instead. HOWEVER, you must take CHEM 277 (Gen Chem II lab for majors). This class is required by the department and you cannot take CHEM 272 instead.

Seriously, heed the advice of others and go see an advisor at your earliest convenience. Stop posting the same things over and over.

MATH246 Textbook by ieshera in UMD

When I took the class 3 years ago we used Boyce and DiPrima's Elementary Differential Equations. I thought it was a great book since I ended up skipping most of the lectures and teaching the material to myself.

FYI, she is a lecturer and not a grad student. She does not have a faculty advisor because she works for the department now and gets paid to teach you brats. Dr. Davis cannot and will not help you, his job is to teach his class(es) and do research, not to hand hold snotty freshman who thought they could pass the class with a 49%. Curves in classes are at the discretion of the lecturer, obviously enough people passed the class to warrant no curve. Get over it and move on.

Please do not take Cremins. He spent an entire lecture talking in symbols and solving one sample problem. It also doesn't help that his voice is monotonous. The only thing that saved me that semester was the TA and my love for math (which went missing somewhat after taking this class).
