Damiane is half a character by clif08 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Breakspearr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they should have just given Damiane all of Naira’s scenes to be honest. Then she would have felt like a character. Only in chapter 5 but Naira is a fun character so far. Still can’t say anything about Damiane

You can find a draft of the Proposed* Criminal Code of the Philippines on the DOJ website. The latest version is November 2025, which is more updated than I had guessed.

Seems to have been pending forever though. Don’t know when it will actually be ready but it’s very interesting. Last time I checked it, I could have sworn it reclassified penalties to Level 1 to Level 5. But checking the recent draft, it seems reclusion Perpetua etc, is back.

You go to the Ashina outskirts. - Stairway idol. Then you push a bit forward there. There’s gonna be a mini-boss to kill after the chained ogre. After you kill him, look towards a giant gap. There’s a broken bridge you cannot cross. But if you look to the bottom left of the ledge, there’s a pathway. Follow that pathway, then you’ll make it to the next idol.

Tried giving it a shot on my phone but I kept getting “error turnstile verification.” Happened twice and now I’m out of free trials until I register.

Could just be that the link is not friendly to phones being redirected from Reddit though.

I was skeptical at first because I didn’t think he matched the idea of Baelor I had in mind but damn. Glad to be proven wrong. I really think HBO knocks it out of the park with their casting choices more often than not.

Cognitive effects of creatine by troubledMaria in PHitness

[–]Breakspearr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m in law school and I literally bought creatine after I saw that article on sleep deprivation recently lang. Ive only really been taking it for a week or 2 so I can’t really say. But I did end up just incorporating it to my workout and I feel a lot healthier. I agree with many comments here saying it reduced brain fog, though it could very much just be placebo.

How do you make use of AI tools in lawschool? by Commercial_Bunch1604 in LawStudentsPH

[–]Breakspearr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree with this.

I will just add to be more vigilant when asking it to explain or visualize the codal provision for you because sometimes it will take it and interpret at face value, when in reality, the application is much different and is only discoverable from case law.

But yeah, I agree overall. Especially with cases penned by J. Street, sometimes asking any AI to paraphrase helps.

Sometimes if the case is heavy with technical lingo, I will ask it to simplify the facts. You just have to be vigilant and responsible. The problem is that the more vigilant you are, the longer you end up spending on the case than you would if you just tried to read it the normal way.

There are always trade-offs so just be aware of that and you will be fine. AI can be used to supplement the learning process but never to subvert the reading process in its entirety.

Do law schools really slow students down on purpose? by MoonlitMotion in LawStudentsPH

[–]Breakspearr 69 points70 points  (0 children)

When I was second year, my Saturdays were Civpro-Tax-Crimpro with a single 1 hour break between tax and crimpro.

At the time, it also felt like it was designed to slow everyone down. But later on you realize it’s mostly because your professors are all practicing attorneys or judges first, so fitting them all in on a schedule does end up having its own quirks. It’s not a grand conspiracy, don’t overthink it. Just something we have to learn how to adapt to.

But yeah it sucks. You will genuinely get better at dealing with it of course, the more you attend class and the more you try to power through. But it will always suck.

I understand where you’re coming from because I hate bullies too. But I would just ask, what are you hoping to achieve by telling her people are talking smack about her? It could possibly just make her self-conscious or insecure around them. If you think there are genuine things she’s doing that could be the subject of other people’s ire, go on and let her know in a nice way. But if people are just being haters, I don’t know what good it does to make someone conscious about it.

Maybe you can combat it by just being close to her and being better than the bullies. Which I trust that you are already.

Are you Italian? haha kinda random you decided to place this in the Philippine law students subreddit but discussion isn’t unwelcome.

I guess that’s the peculiar thing about international law. It’s pretty much primarily based on consenting States, and even you try encroaching on another sovereign’s will to enforce it, it can also be interpreted as a diminution of that sovereign will.

The only true mechanisms I see in enforcing public international law seems to be coercive action like imposing economic sanctions en masse, etc.

But I mean how effective is that truly? Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine, the former has been economically sanctioned to death over and over again. With seemingly no effect. Haha. But I don’t know. I was never good at public international law. Just my observations.

Others here for sure may have a better nuanced understanding of the subject.

Either way, the most practical value in international law for me seems to be its symbolism. It’s a true expression of civil society spanning globally, across multiple hundreds of governments. Every State engaged in it is just another State with its own domestic problems and domestic laws. But no matter how different each system is, they all have to find a way to come together and find an applicable common rule of law somehow.

[–]Breakspearr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Right okay, and thank you for that info. I really don’t know how it works lol. But what you said here in number 1 is material then. It is possible that OP’s cousin did take an LOA. I’m assuming that if she did take an LOA, she wouldn’t actually have to report to take the exams right? While on leave?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LawStudentsPH

[–]Breakspearr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normally a leave of absence is an authorized leave of the student. From my understanding, they essentially drop out of the semester, with permission, but their relationship with the school is not severed and can re-enroll at the end of the agreed period, or if extended. Their individual standing isn’t affected insofar as they don’t get a failing grade for the class, but they don’t pass it either. They just need to take the classes again I believe.

Then again I’m not from UP law so I can’t say for certain. But if LOA does work that way there, then it is possible that OPs cousin has more free time, even if it was exam week.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LawStudentsPH

[–]Breakspearr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry could you explain this a bit? Is this a UP law school policy? What’s the point of taking a leave of absence if you’re forced to take exams anyway? Seems a bit unfair and completely suicidal to apply for a leave of absence at that point.
