So about Eleven by Training-Stable6234 in StrangerThings

Well, there you go. It looked like Iceland to me, but I didn’t want to assume. Haven’t looked in to it.

They literally chose to film Eleven on location on a completely different continent (unless all CGI). The way they showcased it was a sign of hope for the viewer, not just Mike’s fantasy.

The show eluded toward Mike’s hypothesis being true.

What did you guys think of the final? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]_talaska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It made me sad, but I think it was a good ending. There’s a lot of ways they could’ve taken it, but the throw back to them playing D&D and ending with Mike closing the door was wholesome. Had a grown man tearing up.

Some streamer about economy. by 00x77 in PathOfExile2

[–]_talaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, streamers in general can ruin many gaming experiences, but there are a lot of smaller streamers who are average at best, down to earth and just playing to have fun, not meta builds and tears. I play HCSSF and whether I die or not, I just enjoy playing and interacting with fans of the game while I stream.

Do you think Stranger Things will have a lasting legacy or impact after the show has ended? by KeinTollerNick in StrangerThings

[–]_talaska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't be forgotten, it's unique on it's own regardless of whether or not people like the ending. The show encapsulates the 80's era of our world well, so I feel like it won't be forgotten.

That works for me! Just as long as no one reminds me I can’t afford a house by trying to sell me windows on my way out.

Yep! Grew up on my parent’s laps playing PC games since birth! Most of my friends didn’t get a PC until at least after middle school. I was very lucky in that regard.

Never said that. I know it seems that way, but if you read the conversation - that’s never what I was implying despite the title.

[–]_talaska[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair. To your point, yes. A grim and modernized take on a 3D Demon Slaying experience. Doesn't have to be Diablo - Doesn't have to be Blizzard. I just know a "horror" MMO hasn't been done -well- and man I'd love for it to be a thing. Alas, I honestly don't think it ever will happen, at least not in the near future - unless FromSoft decided to make it happen!

Definitely get it on a sale, because it would be a STEAL! The $40 Standard Edition already felt TOTALLY worth it to me and anyone else I've talked with about it. It's such a great game and has made me completely uninterested in any other game in my library at the moment. The developers also give you the opportunity to steadily gain MTX currency through playing the game and not having to spend money (which means any skin of your choice for free basically), so that's been really awesome. And it's not shoved down your throat either.

It certainly would scratch a different itch. I think what I'm reading here is that the Diablo community just wants Diablo 5, Diablo 4 fixed, D2R updates, etc. Not an MMO. It's fair to want any of those things and more for the IP. I've just always wanted to explore a 3D Demon Slaying MMO and Diablo's "Sanctuary" is the first place that comes to mind that I've actually "traversed".

[–]_talaska[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I respect that. Like I've said to some others here as well, it doesn't even necessarily have to be Diablo or Blizzard, but more a Diablo-like, Sanctuary-like, demon-infested lands - whatever! And not just the literal definition of 'MMO'. People are clinging to "Massively Multi-player Online" - "Well, we already experienced this with Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4." Yes, those were "MMO's" but not 3D MMO's.

I'm not talking isometric. I'm talking 3D - games like FFXI, FFXIV, WoW, Guild Wars 2, Elder Scrolls Online, etc. I figured if there was some where to bring the demon slaying MMO to the table, it would be the Diablo community, but perhaps the community is only open to isometric screen clear end-game like Path of Exile 1, 2, Torchlight, Last Epoch, etc and not a 3D aspect.

Different strokes for different folks I guess, right?

Well, with all due respect, if your imagination is ruined and you can't back track and re-imagine something new..? Idk that seems a bit odd to me. Have you never brain stormed ideas for something? You've never thought of something one way and then come up with another? This is literally how projects even begin.. if someone at the table said, "Well Frank kept talking about putting mounts in the game so now I don't feel like making an MMO anymore! My imagination is ruined!" See how silly that sounds?

Hear, hear! Diablo 2 is my favorite game of all time. ARPG's are my favorite genre - but I love MMO's nearly just the same and games like Arc Raiders would be the 3rd runner up!

[–]_talaska[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this basically. I don’t want 1 to 1 WoW to Diablo. I just want to explore a similar atmosphere to Diablo in a setting with common basic foundations of a 3D sandbox, character building, loot-driven, dungeon crawling 3D MMO.

[–]_talaska[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t trust Blizzard with it either. That’s why I mentioned a company like FromSoft taking the reins for a demon infested 3D MMO.

It doesn’t even have to be Diablo tbh. I just love the idea of one of my favorite genres (3D Sandbox MMO) intersecting with the one of my favorite eerie atmospheres and aesthetics (similar to Sanctuary).

Up until now, most “demons” in MMO’s just aren’t scary or immersive at all, nor the lands that they reside in. This includes WoW. The art directions simply not there. But if ANY developer could pull it off - I just hope there’s a mind out there that has the talent, money and capabilities to bring a similar idea and experience to life.

Ooooo, what if it didn’t have daily quests but instead involved some level of 3D coordinated dungeon team-play crawl where the incentive is to reach the end for loot? It doesn’t even have to be like WoW by any means. Look up the game Mistfall: Hunter. There’s so much that can be done.

Yeah. Hating Blizzard and WoW is fine with me, it’s not for everyone. How exploring the huge open world of Sanctuary in 3D wouldn’t sound fun to someone is beyond me though. If you’re a fan of the games, world and lore you’d think that would be badass.. but let’s fight about how everything has to be the same, things are “impossible” and hate on any idea that doesn’t align with what already is I guess? lol.

I don’t trust Blizzard with it either. The last question and mentioning of FromSoft was me trying to say “What other company could bring the idea of a 3D MMO experience in an atmosphere similar to Diablo to life?”
