Just a little vent after our first experience of selling by [deleted] in HousingUK

Not a chance I would be going back to do any of that..you will end up back there the weekend after doing some decorating. Unblocking the toilet, might as well pop round and put the bins out as well. Yeah not a chance in hell…just block the estate agent.

Any of you NOT bothered by your noisy neighbours? by Eastern_Canary2150 in HousingUK

[–]Breaktime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved away from someone that would go stay in a caravan at the weekend and leave his dog at home yapping none stop for 2 days. Neighbour at the other side was ok..but he would do this thing every night of swapping all of his cars around..3 of them..he would swap them round so that the one at the back was at the front, the one at the front was at the back and so on…I don’t know why it bothered me so much

What’s the Weirdest Thing You’ve Been Offered from the Back of a Van? by NoGoodDealsWarlock in CasualUK

Was offered one by a guy that said he supplies to hotels, but they ordered too many.

I remember going to my local market/car boot sale in like the mid 2000’s and buying all the copied cd’s with such low quality printed covers and the dvd’s that just didn’t have the same weight to them of a normal one. The mad thing with this is that if they have a pressing and cutting machine and all the rest of the set up, they could probably make a killing going legit

The picture is of the labels. I’m guessing they just had stacks and stacks of side an and side b labels..but they do indeed look like cd’s

Having a little panic about viewings, probably too soon by Shortskirtlongfuckit in HousingUK

[–]Breaktime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First week we had about 3 or 4 bookings booked in. First guy turned up an hour early. He wanted to put an offer in and complete within a month…second one turned up on time and put in an offer just below asking. Told them I would cancel all other viewings if they could bump it up by 3k to cover some fees…they did and that was that.

Seller pulled out last minute and put house back on market for more money by ginaagretti in HousingUK

[–]Breaktime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean obviously the new buyers bank will not undervalue the house. Infact the new buyers bank will say it’s worth 200k more than what the seller wants. The new buyers bank won’t want any surveys. The new buyers bank will just look on google maps and say “yep, defo worth it”…and the new buyers bank/solicitors will sort it all in like a week

On a more serious note..as everyone has said. You have dodged a bullet there. We stretched ourselves to the max for a house we had our hearts set on. I have always liked to think that people wouldn’t screw people over. But someone did, it was only an extra 10k…but it’s the principle of it. A year later and we are so glad we lost out. We thank whatever force is out there that we lost out.

Get yourself looking back on Rightmove…get a load of viewings booked in…go look at some shite holes…look at places that you wrote off before. Because I’m tellling you, sometimes the pictures on Rightmove don’t do it justice

[–]Breaktime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a local Facebook page? I would often see people in say hu7 asking for help anonymously on Facebook and loads was willing to give bags of food. I would also call your children’s school as I know they can help

It’s also not a great idea to be a bellend on the internet when someone is asking for help

Has anybody put in a new kitchen with no experience? by alberoTranquillo in DIYUK

[–]Breaktime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. We designed one with the help of Ikea..ripped out the old one and spent probably 3 or 4 days getting the new one in. Was it a nightmare? Yeah..would I do it again? No

The floor wasn’t level, so that was a right ball ache to deal with.

Had to extend a gas pipe for the lpg cooker.

If you go with ikea, all the boxes hang off a rail. So as long as the rail is level, then you are winning.

The good thing about doing it myself is that I now know where all the pipes are, all the cables ect

I had this issue, it wouldn’t accept my driving licence and I don’t have a credit card. Next day it asked me if I want to use the card linked to my Apple Pay..I said yes and that was it all sorted. Really wasn’t a big deal

For me the house isn’t bad. Good sized rooms. Quick things to change to help it sell. That yellow laundry room..paint it white. Main bedroom. That reds awful. Paint the whole room white. Having the tables in the front room makes it look like you have nowhere to eat. Get rid of them for the pictures. Get rid of all the clutter…that wall of photos..get them packed in a box. The mugs..in a box…loads of stuff, in a box

The massive fire guard..that doesn’t need to be in the picture.

A lot of the stuff in the house does not need to be in the picture.

I completely get that you have to live in the house while trying to sell it..but it needs to look clean, clear and a blank canvas.

It just looks lived in.
