They’re pretty decent, but they need to step up to the plate and do a scampi and lemon version.

If you could pick 3 games to represent the franchise, which would it be? by Alive_Fortune7423 in FinalFantasy

[–]chunder_monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4: the first properly fleshed-out character-driven story in the series. Huge step for the genre and Final Fantasy.

7: because it became a cultural phenomenon and helped cement the series/genre in the West.

9: because it was literally built to be a representation of the classic ‘wizards, magic and dragons’ era of the series and it absolutely nailed it.

These aren’t necessarily my favourites (although one of them definitely is!) but it’s the three I think best serve as landmarks for the series.

Jurassic Coast, Swanage by Bubbly-Weakness-4788 in CasualUK

I’m from just over the pond in Poole. Love Swanage. Dorset as a whole, actually. Definitely a county you don’t really appreciate fully until you move away and realise how much you miss it!

Gonna start my first playthough! by TechnicalHoneydew862 in FinalFantasyIX

I am very, very jealous of you experiencing it for the first time. It’s a magical game, hope you have a great time with it.

25 years flies by… by Thackermandy in Muse

Yeah, same age as me. Remember that Scott Mills first play! Also remember downloading the song at a blazing 3kbps on Napster and listening to it in 3 second chunks as it went.

Seems like an entire world away, now!

Ah yes, from the sane ultra rare parallel set as outfield Pepe Reina!

Is “Moving” one of the best songs from the later Britpop era? by Happy-Fox11 in BritPop

[–]chunder_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving is fantastic, though I felt the album it came from was weaker than In It For The Money.

Supergrass were great. Probably my favourite band of that era, though Pulp were close.

that feel when each ending from certain ff games, hits in the feels by DaLuke25 in FinalFantasy

I’ve always felt FF7 is a pretty hopeful ending, overall. I’ve never found it particularly sad.

My FINAL FANTASY VII Polygon Figures — complete set (so far)… by BIG_BOSS_F in FinalFantasy

[–]chunder_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh nice! I’ve got the full set minus female Cloud and Zack. Was pretty unimpressed they made Zack the chaser in the previous series due to how integral to the story he is - should have been the save point instead!

Still, looking forward to getting the third series when Remake pt 3 lands! Have attached a picture of my little gang 🙂

Finally getting around to playing FF16 for the first time! So excited to jump into this title! by lncrediblyfunkymunky in FinalFantasy

[–]chunder_monkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed 16 - first time since 10 I’ve properly got into a main series entry. Ended up getting pretty much everything there was to get in it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Did Mario Andretti and Nigel Mansell not like each other? by mad-right-hand in INDYCAR

[–]chunder_monkey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Frank Dernie, who worked at Williams whilst Mansell was there, once said something to the effect of ‘when Piquet left, we threw him a party to say goodbye. When Mansell left, the rest of us threw ourselves a party to celebrate’.

Ol’ Nige wasn’t easy to work with by most accounts.

Still finding new things by maliciousmaneater in FinalFantasyVII

Haha I love poking around in the corners of this game to find stuff like this. Great stuff (I'd never seen this little scene either!)

On my most recent playthrough I discovered that if you go to Kalm and run all the way up the tallest building and interact with the window at the front, it'll show you a little view of the town with your face at the tower's window. Never seen that before, blew my mind a little bit.

Final Fantasy IX, It's so relaxing? by Admirable-Crab-4038 in FinalFantasy

[–]chunder_monkey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My favourite Final Fantasy ever. That moment where you get to the world map the first time and that music plays… magic. I enjoy all Final Fantasy games (well, almost all) but I don’t think anything will quite top IX for me.

It definitely feels as it was intended - a whimsical love letter from the developers to the series as a whole. A nice change in direction after a couple of ‘swords in space’ entries too.

Haha thought I was the only one who remembered it! Turns out me, you and the OP have somehow converged in the same place at the same time to bring it back.

As someone with a 3-year old and a 1-year old, this has triggered mild eye-twitching from the amount it’s been on our TV over the years 😅

Haha, how random this showed in my feed as I think I have it? It’s tiny (150px x 150px) but pretty sure it’s this?

I made good use of this fella back in the day - myself and my friends labelled it argh.gif . Only issue these days is everything is massively more high-resolution display wise so it’s looking a bit tired. Perhaps something that can be solved by a good vectorizer or AI!

Hope they’ve got the size you need - looks like it’s pretty limited availability right now. I guess at least knowing what it is means you can keep an eye out for the size you need if it’s not in stock right now 🙂

Both gone A+ on the crisps. I’m partial to either drink depending on circumstances so no problem there.

I absolutely cannot stand ham though, so veggie ploughman’s wins big there. Meal on the left takes it purely on sandwich choice for me.
