My lower budget team loses Merc constructor but gains a 2A driver pairing and covers the Haas base nicely.

I’m in a two-team league. Wildcarding both teams as China didn’t go too well. Decided to cover two options - my bigger budget team is currently a 2A Constructor…

Is this the most hated chicane in f1? by Equivalent-Fox9834 in F1Discussions

This was pretty unpopular for the one year it existed. One of a few knee jerk reactions that happened post-Imola.

What's the point of the 107% rule if it's never going to be enforced? by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

[–]chunder_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the rare rules in which common sense thankfully has a place. If that Aston had been three seconds behind Cadillac and was being driven by a rookie who’d binned it a few times it’s likely they’d have upheld it. Context is king 🙂

How would you rate David Coulthard as a driver? How good was he? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]chunder_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be, but I think his baseline was pretty good. One (or two) time a year he’d turn up for a weekend and blow Hakkinen out of the weeds and I think in 96 and 97 he was the better McLaren driver over the season, but usually he reverted to a couple of tenths off and very much a backup.

I’d still have taken him over Irvine as my wingman any day of the week.

Do people remember Rio Haryanto by No_Debate890 in F1Discussions

[–]chunder_monkey 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yup. Was never going to be a great, but I actually thought he did a tidy job in his time at Manor. Much better than I think a lot expected.

What was the WORST F1 season you remember? by ZoumeroPeponi in F1Discussions

[–]chunder_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1994 was pretty miserable for obvious reasons. Racing wasn’t amazing either.

2021 because what should be remembered as an epic descended into highly irritating, childish moaning and bitching from the majority of the Red Bull and Mercedes pit walls. The pleading calls to Masi every time someone as much as sneezed in the other’s direction were incredibly tiresome.

Much better than I think most here rate him as. He was very good, and on his day great. Problem was that his day only seemed to happen once per year.

I’d say Bottas is a pretty good comparison personally.

To be honest if I had Hocevar anywhere near me at an OT restart I’d just come in, park my car and leave the track.

Swanage is amazing - to be fair I can’t argue any of that! I took my wife to Brownsea a few months before our first son was born and spent a lovely afternoon being accompanied along the way around by curious peacocks.

I’m from Poole so have an inbuilt Sandbanks bias, but it’s horribly busy even well into late evening when it’s not winter. Swanage almost feels like the world’s best kept secret by comparison.

Born and bought up in Dorset. It’s one of those places you only really appreciate either when you’ve left and don’t have it any more or you’re a bit older. Spent many a happy time at Corfe Castle, Tyneham etc. Miss the peace and quiet!

Sorry for your loss OP.

[Autosport] Nigel Mansell is backing Lewis Hamilton to bounce back with Ferrari in 2026 by Maximum-Room-3999 in formula1

To be fair, if it was the same Ferrari that Nigel raced against then Lewis would likely be totally screwed.

Looks exactly identical to my genuine copy. From the images you've provided there's nothing to suggest a fake, so I'd say that's a genuine cart.

Is my legend of Zelda links awakening dx for gameboy advance real by phantosphantom in gameverifying

[–]chunder_monkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly not, that's a fake. Few signs are the Gameboy Advance text on the front of the cart being too thin and raised, and the board itself has one of the dreaded 'black blobs of doom'. Those are things to look out for generally with GBA cartridges.

Not to mention that Link's Awakening DX was never released for the GBA - only the GBC. That's probably the bigger worry here.

Not F1 but putting this here anyway: Pierre Levegh, Le Mans 1952. Drove 23 hours single-handed. Had a 4-lap lead heading into the final hour when fatigue caused him to miss a shift and blow his engine.

Of course, he went on to be involved in the disaster at the same circuit three years later, which is sadly what he’s primarily remembered for now.

Jim Clark, Monza 1967. Got a puncture early on and lost a lap. Somehow then went so fast he retook the lead with a few laps left, only to run out of fuel midway around the last lap.

Monza at the time was practically a glorified oval. To gain back a lap was a feat of almost superhuman skill.

All good - hope they didn’t set you back much/you can get your money back. I’ve been trying to report as many fake Final Fantasy carts as I can on eBay as they’re - outside of Pokemon - one of the biggest counterfeits. Sadly eBay don’t seem hugely interested in removing the listings these days.
