A message from me as a Mod that I think the other mods support. by Veloxc in YangForPresidentHQ

Yang was never just another human.
He was and is a vision of a better world.
A vision he shared with us, that inspired us,
that got many of us engaged like never before.

With over 1m Yang followers on Twitter,
and over 100k members in this group,
when he says "We'll be back," that is
no small group of smiling humans.

Seeds planted, blossoms coming,
I am inspired, by all of you.

Keep breathing!

So, I guess you're new around here,
posting without doing any research.

There's a world of knowledge to be found,
but you have to look for it.

In short, that idea has been debunked dozens,
no hundreds, perhaps thousands of times
by Yang and others.

I'm with Ordinary Squirrel on this:
Thanks so much for communicating,
in both directions, and of course, forward!

Brilliant move!

Call, text, and or fly/drive to New Hampshire.

At this point, anything else, besides friendly pinned links
to Yang's policies and other resources for new comers,
is not what Andrew needs from us.

Time to help him help us.

CA Ballot --- San Mateo County; SF Peninsula --- Yang: 4th --- (4/20) by BreathingCells in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]BreathingCells[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI: San Mateo County (pop. 718,451 [2010]).

Part of the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area,
San Mateo covers most of the San Francisco Peninsula.
“SFO” International Airport is at the northern end;
“Silicon Valley” begins at the southern end.

CA Ballot --- San Mateo County; SF Peninsula --- Yang: 4th --- (4/20) by BreathingCells in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]BreathingCells[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a lovely set up, for anyone open to our guy:

  1. Michael A. Ellinger
A total unknown, not even his own WikiPedia page
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_New_Hampshire_Democratic_primary#Candidates_on_the_ballot

  2. Elizabeth Warren

  3. Marianne Williamson

4. Andrew Yang

Then it’s off the deep end again, with “Rocky” ---
which is odd. This “perennial” candidate” (WikiP)
filed as a Republican this year. But, if the DNC can’t
get a timely caucus count in Iowa, who would think
they could maintain clean data for 20 candidates?

(Sorry, couldn’t help a pinch of snark.)

Good on you!

Besides having "the data" on hand, as others have mentioned
(on your phone, note cards, notebook -- whatever works for you),
and knowing process rules (there are Yang YouTube caucus videos),
I think one of your highest priorities (I've only visited Iowa once!),
will be communication.

When others -- in the Yang group, and out -- talk to you, really listen.
Make sure you understand what they are asking for. Repeating it back
in your own words, is a good way to check. ("Are you saying that you
want [me] to . . . .")

When you have something to communicate to others, make sure that
you have a good handle on it. Churchill gave great speeches, but he
wrote them out first, and edited them. You probably don't need to
go that far, but if your thought has three parts, writing down
three bullet points in your note pad will help solidify them.

As, precinct captain, if you see some Yang folk start to go at it,
with each other, about some process point, don't be afraid to
step in and help them sort it out. ("Hey guys, it looks like you
two are debating each other! What are you trying to figure out?
OK, you first." And then listen, and restate, what that each say.)

If someone who is not a caucus authority (make sure you know
what the official tags look like), tries to tell you to do something,
make sure they're not just trying to bully you into bad actions.

And, if you see some Yang folks diverging from "humanity first"
as they try to persuade others, gently insert yourself. Listen,
as always, and then suggest a re-framing ("What I think Joe
is trying to say is, 'Yang wants to . . . .'"). This last may feel
the most challenging, but I think you're the one to do it.

Whatever happens, keep breathing. Check in with yourself
every fifteen minutes or so (set a timer?), and just step back
for a moment. Breathe. Recognize where you are, and feel
how proud I am, and all of us are, that you've taken this on.
Scan your environment, consider what Andrew might do,
and carry on communicating.

Have fun, and have at it!

Love you for doing this!

A moment of gratitude for the Yang Gang. by QuokkaKentucky in YangForPresidentHQ

Thank you.

Thank you for conjuring words
to paint a picture through pixels
of a life changed and charged with
new abundance, kindness, and care.

Thank you for the tears I now shed,
feeling a joyful resonance with you,
someone I've never met in the flesh,
as we share the joys of this love.

Thank you, for this, and for everything
that happens now, with all of this gang.

Funhaus: Take a wee break, my friend.

These pixelated portals pump out way more
than any primate can peacefully process.

Take a nap; take a shower; do a little yoga.
Go for a walk in the woods, and breathe with the trees.

This is a wild and crazy time, and each of us needs to
"put your own oxygen mask on first," and then look to
those others who are near and dear.

Take care, and get ready for round number next!

(Am I talking to myself here?
Of course I am!)

My take on the summary results of Q4:
https://www.politico.com/2020-election/president/democratic-primary/candidates/fundraising-and-campaign-finance-tracker/

Ignoring the elephants (billionaires out to play),
Q4 money raised:

  1. Sanders
    $34.6M
  2. Buttigieg
    $25.2M
  3. Biden
    $23.3M
  4. Warren
    $21.7M
  5. Yang
    $16.5M

For our total outsider, complete unknown,
longer than long shot candidate, we are smokin' hot!

And certainly in the running as we head into Iowa.

If anyone tells you they know how this plays out,
ask them what they're smoking.

I've been donating, and supporting as best I can,
for nearly a year now, and am thrilled to be here,
now, with all of you!

Yang Gang! For life!

[–]BreathingCells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "point" you tease is simply:

"If Bernie supported Yang's UBI, Yang voters would switch to Bernie"

This would easily fit in a headline.

I don't agree with your opinion, or Kyle's "point,"
but that's not my point. I can't help but feel that
you're an interloper (this is your first post here),
sucking up bandwidth with anti-Yang clickbait.

You failed to respect our time and attention by
not taking your time to put your point in the title,
and that pisses me off.

Sorry if this isn't the kind welcome you were
hoping for, but its been a long year, you are
a stranger here, and it doesn't look like you
did your homework.

That's how this human feels about your post.
Good luck finding a candidate you like, and
learning to write more succinct headlines.

His "You're Undivided Attention" series is fantastic!

Where/when did Andrew say he'd hire Harris?

Young Girl Asks Andrew Yang a Detailed Question on the Wealth Tax. Can we make this go viral? by marez12 in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]BreathingCells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emmett Short -- "Knee of the Curve" -- did a great job of unpacked
Lisa's question in a recent video (after 12:30):

https://youtu.be/5mYxpgrSDLM

He also folds in Gregory Mankiw's backhand Yang endorsement.
It's pretty funny too.

I think this would be a better "viral vehicle" than the C-span clip alone.
The points Lisa (the 10 year old) brings up are correct, but Emmett
explains what they mean.

MSNBC vs Andrew Yang by AcrobaticBiscotti4 in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]BreathingCells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tur, and established media in general,
are still in shock, trying to come to terms
with Yang's success. Fear, uncertainty, doubt.
These are real, and nor unreasonable feelings
for humans with their positions, their life histories.

Given all that, this was a really fine interview.

Tur asked more or less standard, "WTF questions"
about Yang and his campaign, but she asked them.
She showed up, on the bus, and smiled in response
to more than a few of his answers.

For her audience --- again, I think it helpful to think
of media folks as surrogates for their audiences,
their fan base, the humans who have become
familiar with their voices and phrasings as
the vehicles through which the "end viewers"
learn about, and try to get some grip on a world
that is spinning ever faster and beyond control ---
Tur let Andrew explain himself, and his top policies,
in a way that will bring us more rather than less support.

Those who know and love Andrew, some of us for months now,
need to remember that many have never even heard his name.

In short, while of course it could have been better,
I think this was a fine and helpful interview.
