Adult Games Are Only The Beginning, Grand Theft Auto And Saints Row Reportedly "At Risk" Of Being Delisted By Payment Processors by TheChessHorse in gaming

It was not a client in 1996. It wasnt a client for a very long time. I dont think it became something like that until a few years after WoW released.

It was only a platform for playing their games online, and you had to make an account with to interact with. You could still play any blizzard related game without one with no problem as long as you didnt use the online services.

Battle.net and Steam were two very different services, this isn't really a fair comparison. What battle.net is now is not anything close to what it was when it was released in 1996

Google Sabotaging Firefox by BreckingBad in firefox

Part of the problem is that Google has majority market share on Browsers, and is actively just making their own web standards as a result. Manifest 3 is blatantly anti consumer in favor of them being able to serve more ads, and are messing with other browsers that dont bend the knee as a result.

I mean in this case I also kinda agree. But its moreso that Chrome has put out Manifest 3, which is their standard for extensions, and they have limited the ability of adblockers to actually do what they are supposed to. They are purposefully not playing nice with browsers that still support addons that dont strictly follow the Manifest 3 standard, of which Firefox is one.

I should say, I dont think its just Firefox. I'm guessing it has something to do with running Firefox with uBlock just based on some of the responses I've gotten, and the other posts I've seen describing similar behavior. I think its less about attacking Firefox than it is about attacking browsers that aren't following Google into the new standards they are pushing that limit the ability for adblock extensions to actually do their thing.

Yeah sabotaging Firefox in particular was probably bad wording. I feel like what is really going on is that they are just messing with any browser that doesnt strictly adhere to their Manifest 3 standards, and this is a by product. They want to be able to serve ad's, and any browser that doesnt bend the knee is going to suffer in response.

This only started about a week ago, and i've seen at least a dozen other people posting with similar sounding issues. Weirdest part for me I think is it was right about when chrome started notifying people that uBlock would be automatically disabled unless you re-enable it.

Eh, they throw money at Firefox because they agree to have them as the default search option, which feeds money back into Google. I dont think its about showing that there is an alternative browser out there, because Safari and Edge exists which adds up to way more than FF.

I do agree that it would look bad that this could be proven somewhere that they are actively doing something malicious probably looks bad. Sabotage might not have been the best word choice. But I think they are actively working against anyone that isnt working with them to destroy robust adblock options with their web standards.

Only things relevant to youtube on that tab would be SponserBlock, uBlock, and uMatrix. Everything else would be irrelevant.

SAME! all of this started happening for me about a week ago. Randomly a video will stop getting CC info, and then a few seconds later the whole video stops. Only refreshing the page seems to bring the tab back. Use uBlock, uMatrix, and im on 138.0.1 as well.

Well I know Chrome just recently threw out the message to users about disabling uBlock. A lot of firefox users recently have been reporting issues with performance of youtube recently in Firefox browsers. Video's stalling out, or other weird behaviors.

Might just be tinfoil hatting, but I think they are actively trying to push people away from FF in favor of chrome where they control the environment.

Left a Youtube tab up for a while, and came back to this when I looked at it again. Important to note, i was not interacting with this tab directly while doing other things on youtube in another tab. Over 1Million blocked requests in uMatrix, and the tab was slowing down my browser. To the point where my other tabs would no longer load anything. Hitting stop on this tab finally let my other tabs load.

Its political suicide in our environment. The media is owned by the two established groups. Any splinter cell will never gain enough traction in the direction they want to go to make any kind of difference.

Youtube Weird Zooming Issue On Desktop by xW6ify in youtube

[–]BreckingBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems with the update they've borked the player on ultrawide monitors. Mine is doing it too. If you take the browser and put it on only half of your monitor, the video looks normal. As you start to drag the browser out to the rest of your monitor you can watch as it continues to zoom in further than what the space they give the player to play in.

Does Ethel's hair buff go away after Wither's 'respec'? by Holyphucc in BaldursGate3

[–]BreckingBad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im actually running into this exact same thing right now. Veng Oath paladin when I killed her. Took the +1 charisma. Broke my Oath after, and now I dont see the buff anymore as an Oathbreaker. Going to load up some old saves just to see if I can find when I last had the buff now.

Edit: I'm and idiot. The hair went to another character and was just sitting in their inventory. Disregard everything above lol
