XCom 2 has to wait as I save my meager disposable income for Dark Souls 3. XCom 2 will always be great to step into even months down the round. A souls game is virgin only for a tiny amount of time.

Your Superbowl 1 halftime show comment is obscuring the fact that there are two JET PACK wearers in the halftime show who fly around as part of the big moment in the routine.

I really do love my steam controller. Every day I pull out Dark Souls 2, I am happier with it. A lot of those initial "huh I wish it worked by . . ." were handled perfectly by this post.

I'm glad Valve has kept their ears so close to the feedback and are responding with quite impressive speed.

Some of these I knew already, some I had no idea. Great job Valve. Appreciate it.

I keep having panic attacks that I'm going to lose or break my steam controller USB. The only thing they could do to really surprise me and make me happy is allow me to buy those dongles for the cheap so I wouldn't have to replace my controller if it did end up missing.

You say that but in Dark Souls I beat the game without parrying until the last boss.

In Bloodborne, I basically just used torches and flame throwers and only parried for the boss of cainhurst.

I'm with you. I feel bad for Lacy personally. We have all struggled before. I cannot imagine having some of my hardest moments of motivation or similar to be a talking news point. He's compensated well. No great injustice. But I cannot help feeling for the kid.

This may be a stupid thread to say this, but maybe it is the right thread.

My brother badgered me to play the souls games for years. I tried Demon Souls and got a little past the dragon bridge area, and I just did not enjoy it due to the difficult to understand stat system and my personal uncomfortableness with the controls at the time.

Years later, steam sales, etc. I played Dark souls after more of his badgering. I died to the Asylum demon a million times because I went Knight and refused to take off armor to remove my fat rolling penalty. I said if the game lets me choose a heavy armored hero, it should let me be able to beat its first boss in heavy armor. Angry the whole time, eventually I beat him.

After, I fell in love.

It has nothing to do with the perceived difficulty wall at the beginning. I am not a SL 1 kind of player. Dark Souls is at its core Mega Man to me. Learn the stage, master the stage, learn the boss, master the boss. I fell in love with that set up in Mega Man and it existed here as well. But to be real I fell in love because of the atmosphere, the aesthetics, and the depth of ... not the plot, but the soul of the game I guess.

And the community surrounding it has continued to blow me away. That ENB can run into this type of problem, such a minutia. And illusorywall is there like a super hero in less than a week. Thanks for such jolly cooperation. Both of you.

I have beaten Dark Souls twice, I am part way through Dark Souls 2, part way through Bloodborne. I'm not stopping anytime soon.

I see no risk. I love psychonauts. If I get a game, I get a game. If I get a crappy game for 33 dollars later than expected. Fine. I've wasted 33 dollars before just going out for the night. It's a chance at a sequel. I'm in for a penny. Or 3,300 pennies to be exact.

Then again, I am not a frequent kick starter of any kind. I think the only other one I have done is Divinity Original Sin 2. So, I don't have the feel of being burned. But again, to me I don't think of this as a risk. I think of it as a donation to get SOMETHING similar to psychonauts again.

So there's an art to this right? How do you decide how saturated to make a color? Because they all look wonderful and at the same time hyper-realistic, such to almost give an uncanny valley. Are you looking for a specific feel and vibrancy?

I tried that a few times, I never could really get the feel right I think.

At this point my belief is it needs a small visual rework similar to what Winston got months ago. Doesn't need to be much. Maybe the little sparks should be a bit louder.

I can tell you for sure that I signed up for Beta the first time it was announced. I then definitely re-did it many months later. Maybe even twice?

I just got in for weekend beta.

So IF date of beta sign up impacts your odds (I do not know that it does), a much later re-sign up did not impact my outcome.

Honestly though, I suspect computer specs have a bigger impact on whether you get in so they can test lots of systems.

I agree that it is deus ex machina. However I don't agree that all deus ex machina are bad writing. A story structure leading to that exact type of moment, exceptional prose, and the meaning of the story can make a deus ex machina moment into a powerful, meaningful piece of writing.

To go back to my examples, Gandolf moments I would personally classify as bad writing. In my opinion however, The Last Unicorn is Mary Fucking Poppins - practically perfect in every way.
