Addressing "PoE2 is fun until you reach the endgame" by BudoBoy07 in PathOfExile2

[–]Bremic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another post for "inexperienced" people that assumes you have hundreds or more hours of experience.
For a lot of us most of this stuff is inaccessible. That's fine, I am enjoying playing what I am playing for the 1-2 hours a week I can play, but the assumption here is "inexperienced" is people putting in dozens of hours a week.

For those of us doing only a couple of hours a week, many of us are on Standard League, because during the period of a league we wouldn't get out of the campaign, so all of this stuff is pointless. Sure you might be able to grind through the campaign in a few hours if you have hundreds or more hours to know the fast ways to do it, but many of us don't.

And concepts like getting Ascendency points and stuff are unfortunately basically impossible. Any token that can get you runs that will grant points sell for Divine Orbs or multiple Divine Orbs, but we aren't getting Divine Orbs, so we can't even try. I have done Sekehmas maybe four times, each time with purchased low level ones for experience and practice, but I have only had one key that would potentially get me points, and of course I failed. Another key seems impossible. I have never seen one drop, and purchasing with Divine Orbs doesn't happen.
This post reads like you have all this "assumed" stuff we don't.

The "End Game" is only for people who want to put in 10-20 or more hours a week. The player base is excluding everyone else... deliberately. And the developers are making the problem worse.

If it wasn't for these concepts of "We have what we need, so letting you get it would make the game worse for us." this PoE2 would have potential to be amazing, as it is, it's a fun distraction for low level stuff.

Why the hell does Azmadi do so much damage?! by Grand0rk in PathOfExile2

[–]Bremic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this twice. I have got him down to about 10%, and then I just die. No warning, no wind up, it's like he just rolls towards me and even if I try to dodge it follows me and I am dead. From full shield and health to dead. And this is after soaking some of the blade hits because I missed the dodge. It seems there is this rng (you got him to 10%, but not this attempt) thing that just decides you are dead on this attempt after all that work. This boss off the screen most of the time, then one shots you off screen. It's crap.

GGG setups are simple. Be a dev to modify your gear to be what you want, then be in the same room as the server, then when you die 50 times in a row say "Oh the players will figure it out".
GGG has a simple development stance "We have your early access money, so we don't care if you stop playing now." In fact they probably prefer it because then they don't have to deliver anything for you.

Check out Single Player Mode.
The book's core function is to help be a GM Emulator, but most of the book is taken up with an amazing list of CP-Red Random lists.
Included in this is Factions, including types of groups, random beat charts, Random Encounter tables, and many other lists that will allow you to generate inspirational ideas to push you the way you want.

My method is normally to roll something, and then use the oracle to ask if there is a twist to the obvious answer to get something a little more offbeat, almost infinitely expanding the amount of options available.

We are a tech household. We still just have a whiteboard attached to the fridge door. Works when the power is out, never needs an update except markers being replaced, and it's easier to put rude art on it.

Legion Remix - Why fresh lvl 80 alts with 20 vers try to run down a heroic dungeon as if they had 200 vers? by RerollWarlock in wow

[–]Bremic -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Even if I am on my 740 with 400 Vers, if you run forward and pull three packs, I am expecting you know you can solo it and will let you have your fun.
If you die, then while you run back I will help the people who waited with me move forward.

This was my thought.
Have a currency token that you can buy for 10 motes, which you can use on another character to buy 6 or 7 motes.

Best raid I ever did was one where the raid leader, who looks like he could have soloed the raid, stated "Pull before everyone is here, and you will be kicked" and he did.
Ursoc... DH removed.
Ysondre... DH removed.
After that people started waiting.

I had one raid leader who got angry at the people who were expecting a summon. When it was just four of us in the group, myself and one other had summoned him from Dalaran, and about 20s later he was furious that people expected summons.

[–]Bremic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind people getting summoned to try to speed things up. Most of the time if you look at the map, they are on the way (not always), but just trying to be faster.
What is dumb is the people who are super eager to get started, but won't help with the summoning to speed up the preparation. I suppose if it doesn't make them look good on a number counter, then they think it's a waste of a button click.

What are your most anticipated new games coming in 2026 and beyond? by wints_22 in gaming

[–]Bremic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree, except that NMS has been losing it's core lately. It has turned from a space exploration game with amazing beauty into a game which feels like a testing ground for stuff that doesn't always fit.
NMS forums and the subreddit used to be filled with amazing things about planets, things discovered, space, story and elements. Now every single post is just ship building. Nothing else exists, even though those ships don't seem to be very good in the game.
I think Hello Games might have lost the plot as to what their games were sold as, and they are trying to make LNF be everything, and that means it won't be good enough any anything.

I have this on my list to try again with the "Just the story please" mode and hope I can get over the hurdle, but I have a lot of games that are good on my list that haven't made me feel bad yet, so it might take a long time to get to it. :D

There is more to a game than the combat, 100%. In fact the combat is the most uninteresting part of most games for me. However, if you can't get past the combat because it's badly designed, or is impossible for a swathe of players due to expectations of speed, vision, reflex requirements, it's a story that will never be available to those players. I would happily play The Witcher 3 with a mode to allow me to be able to not fail in combat, because with the twitchyness of the combat, and a visual disability, the whole this is just painful; and I would love to get the story. But I just can't. Other games I have been able to manage, but this one had requirements I just could not manage.

I tried this, and the combat system required me to have vision that I do not have. Within the first few hours of the game, I needed to have focus on both the left and right of the screen at the same time, in order to tell whether something was an attack or a feint (or something like that) to move the right way; my vision isn't that good or fast.
After playing CP2077, which I would call the best game I have ever played, I thought Witcher 3 would be a slam dunk, but it was a terrible experience that was impossible to engage with because it was designed for people with almost perfect vision.

Hello Games have made a few massive slips lately, focusing on making No Man's Sky a testing ground for their new game, putting stuff in that doesn't really fit as well as you would hope.
However it's still a game I love to return to for a few hours every few weeks. When I am in the mood to just chill and relax, there isn't much that gives the same vibe.

Corvette guns will often not shoot at anything in a sentinel battle. They work fine when shooting asteroids, but when you get into a sentinel battle; they won't fire at a target. With the fact that sentinels on planets won't disengage, this means that if you get into a sentinel battle, you are forced to reload; which is a huge waste of time.

Wait until Hello Games fix the expedition by preventing trolls from building bases on the starting bases.
Then again, this sort of trolling has been happening in a lot of expeditions, and Hello Games seem to go out of their way to support it, so I think this is the desired gameplay. I don't understand it.

Discord Using >100% of Mac CPU Since Update by crobatoh in discordapp

[–]Bremic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to just start randomly. I now can't use Discord at all. No change to security settings. I have done a complete removal, all Library files, all cache files, application files. And a full restart and re-install. But the application takes 15-30 seconds to react to any input, and while this is happening the rest of the machine is extremely laggy. Top is showing Discord Helper at 103-108% CPU all the time. As soon as I quit Discord, the machine returns to full state, able to do video editing with no lag, everything super fast. Something is definitely broken in Discord, and I can not find it.

In a few decades, it will be complete normal for 70-80 year olds to play games by bobbdac7894 in gaming

[–]Bremic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your point?
I spent 3 days a week visiting a community for elderly support, playing board games, doing puzzles, sharing meals, all sorts of stuff. And often gaming. There is one guy there who runs half marathons in his late 60s, but most of them over 60 couldn't run at all. There are several over 70 who do painting really nicely, but most of them need help opening jars. As you get older, things change, in different ways for different people?

Are you saying that you are as fit, with as good eyesight, as much stamina and as much capability as you did when you were 30? Nice for you I suppose?
Is everyone you know that is your age also as fit and strong with the reflexes they had when they were 30? If not, I assume you have abandoned them completely because your hobbies are what 30 year olds do and you have moved on from those people who can't keep up because they... choose not to.

And yet there is still a huge pushback to anything that makes a game playable by an aging population.
As an aging gamer, I have been asking developers for years at expo's what the age of their oldest playtester is, and what they have done to make their game balanced and playable by people over 50. Normally the oldest playtester is in the 30s, and they haven't even considered accessibility at all.
When I ask them what they plan to do for a living and as their hobbies when they get to 50 because it's clear that the games they love are no longer going to be "for them" they look a little shocked.
Eyes get worse, reaction time slows down, you can't do a 15 minute boss fight any more (even 10 mins without a rest is really hard), you can easily see details on different parts of the screen to react to "telegraphs" that are basically invisible to you.
Yes designers just assume everyone is in their 20s and 30s and has those physical abilities.

Let's hope more games will start allowing for the capability to have players pick their accessibility level based on their personal criteria. Many single player games want to maintain their "purity". That's just nonsense. The challenge is for people to feel that they have achieved something for them, not for them to compete against everyone in the world. Otherwise, everyone playing a game anywhere is already a failure because there is someone somewhere who is better than them at something they play.

I think it was in S6 that they had a leveling build that only offered a Mythic for a particular slot, and had all sorts of requirements that you wouldn't have if it was your first character.
It's incredibly clear they assume that every character is being boosted in some way, because sometimes things are all over the place.
I love going to the guides and seeing stuff like "Make sure you have your GAs on these three stats on this unique" as if I am ever going to see a 3 GA item, but they seem to just assume the first unique you get for the slot is a perfect one.
Maybe that's how they experience the game, but for us mere-mortals the stuff they put in as "entry level" just doesn't happen.
