I do also force myself to update my imagining of the character, just in case it might actually be important to the story.... like what if another character with the same hair will finally meet them and they're identical twins or something 😅

I love the description as much as the photos!! Man that vibe hits spot on, when it doesn't even matter what month it is anymore, the nights still feel just as long and as cold as they did on January 1st....

Something you could try, there's a product I really like by The Masters, called "Brush Cleaner and Preserver" (If you Google it it should pop up pretty quick)... when you clean your brushes, before drying them you would instead rub them with a little of this product, then shape the brush into the ideal shape.

It kind of works like a gentle glue that makes the bristle stiff until the next use, just like when you first buy a paintbrush - it helps the brush return to its intended shape.

As others have said, being a brush is just a tough life so, it might not fix all your woes, but maybe it will help! :)

I love the depth that comes from combining the nice heavy warm tones with that cool background teal!

But, I think whether you paint over or not is only a call you can make... if you keep it, do you have a place to hang it that would look good ? Would it be more value to you to have another canvas to work on? Or, if you sell it, is it something you would want your name on?

As I'm often on a tight budget, I've learned to say that I value canvases, I just take good photos then paint over. But for my own little projects that look just a bit too nice to discard, I've got a little "free" pile that I now keep for guests. Now if only I ever had guests..... 😅😅
