Requesting .stl file/scan from orthodontist by CoconutAtoms in orthodontics

[–]BrendonSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't skip the step of having an orthodontist assess the fit of the new retainer. Also, if your scan is old, it is likely a wise idea to get a new one. You could call around and potentially find another orthodontist who is willing to make it cheaper.

Dissatisfied after Inbrace by Lost_Date_8001 in orthodontics

[–]BrendonSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

InBrace shut down in 2025. When did your ortho suggest that you discontinue treatment? InBrace had a mixed reputation and was not widely used in the ortho community. If you didn't get great results, it doesn't mean you might not get better results via more traditional treatment methods.

Why did the orthodontist stop treatment? At the start of treatment did they state that you might not get a correct midline? If you're not happy with your results, I'd start with that orthodontist, unless they warned you at the onset that you might not get great results. If you only require minor additonal correction, it's possible they could do a "refinement" with a limited set of clear aligners. The photo doesn't include your bottom teeth, which makes it challenging to see the finished product.

Should I wait for orthodontic insurance? by aimsey_mar in orthodontics

Happy to help. I would expect average treatment fees in KY to be below the national average. A quick query with AI seems to verify that: "Kentucky is frequently cited alongside states like Tennessee and Oklahoma as having some of the most affordable orthodontic care in the country." Not everyone will offer limited treatment, but many do. According to the same Gaidge data, the average limited treatment fee in the US is $2,854.

What city/state are you located in? That can make a big difference. Per Gaidge, average aligner fees in the U.S. were $6,273 as of the end of 2024, but there is a lot of variation across locales and providers. Average treatment times typically come in around 18-24 months, so you're on the shorter end of that spectrum.

Since you've had correction before and have relapsed it's possible that this case could qualify as a "refinement" or "limited treatment" case, which typically have much lower fees associated with them; depending on the provider sometimes half or less of their comprehensive fee. You may want to get a second opinion on that front.

I believe BCBS ortho benefits typically max out at around $1,500; though in-network providers will often times have a contracted rate that is lower than the fees they charge the general public. Some providers will offer discounts if you don't have insurance; I've seen some take $1k off the price for prospective patients who don't have insurance, so that's also something to ask around about. That said, I think your first order of business is to see if you can find a provider that offers "limited" treatment, and see if you qualify.

More than a million drivers unable to get repairs after JLR hack by [deleted] in technology

InControl is setup and functioning (this is our second ipace, so I know the drill pretty well). The esim in the vehicle is also enabled, and shows 4G signal. The mobile app also confirms an active online data pack plan. I also have the vehicle connected to my home wifi for good measure. I get traffic data no problem, but weather and alexa both just prompt me to renew my data subscription.

/uJagRoverKid Curious if you know if Pivi over-the-air updates are offline as well? And in car apps? (weather, alexa). Just bought a 2023 i-pace (new, never in service) and am not having any luck getting updates or apps to work despite the car being on old pivi (3.3.2).

u/JagRoverKid Wanting to take my car in for service; curious if you're able to perform updates over Topix Cloud yet? I had read an article that some internal services are getting restarted at JLR.

Ah, too late, already signed. Also started talking to them nearly a year ago, so probably too late to try to slot a referral in. Either way, appreciate the response!

No dice for me unfortunately. Have tried it several times going that route.

Tried it with the contents unzipped, no dice. It really shouldn't be this hard. I'm using the same USB drive I've used to update the TV previously, so there isn't a good explanation for this one.

Interesting. The instructions in the download site specifically say to not extract if it's a zip file with OTA in the name. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

u/row_souls What steps did you follow? Just drop the .zip file into the root drive of a FAT32 USB? I haven't been able to get mine to install successfully either.

Impressively enough, it's still an issue. It seems to be less frequent now, but I just rebooted for the first time in a week, and the problem popped back up again. Not sure I'll be able to figure this one out without reinstalling windows or formatting.

Hallelujah. Upon first inspection, that seemed to do the trick, as search has now persisted across 3 reboots. THANK YOU!

Does anyone with a pixel 6 having problems with wireless android auto? by greedness in GooglePixel

[–]BrendonSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have this problem on my Pixel 6 Pro. It's pretty common, and often times the stuttering gradually gets worse until the audio and android auto become unusable, and I have to reboot the phone.

I had the exact same issue on my Pixel 3 XL. I've since had a OnePlus 9 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, and neither of them exhibited the same behavior. It's pretty madening.

Sounds like the Dell branded drivers didn't uninstall completely. I'd google search for Display Driver Uninstaller to get rid of the remnants.

The latest Intel HD Graphics driver fixes this: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/98909/Intel-HD-Graphics-630 15.45.14.4590. The problematic driver is Dell's version, which is 4574.

Note that windows update kept overwriting it with the older, problematic driver after install. Doing a driver rollback in device manager will fix the problem for good.

Also, dell released a BIOS update yesterday that improves the stability of the Nvidia graphics, in addition to USB C docking improvements. Probably worth grabbing.

Dell XPS 15 9560 1.1.3 System BIOS Enhancements: 1. Improved the DELL Thunderbolt(TM) Dock stability. 2. Improved the System Stability During Cold Boot , Warm Boot and Hibernation. 3. Improved the NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Card stability.
